The 1st Annual International VR Chili Cook off is something we congered up because of a certain ol' bird's braggin'. So far we have two members ready to put him in his place. Just to make things clear this will be a 'Slap Down No Holds Barred King of the Hill Best in he West Chili Contest' Judging to be done by all the 'Free Loaders' alive and standing after emptying their bowls, and can still raise one hand. Trophy's awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. For dessert the Venture Rider FLer's will get to create their own 'free-be' Ice Cream Sundaes. Bowls, Spoons, and..... Finger Bowls Provided....... Just bring your appetite!! :cody

Is there a source for gaskets in Canada?
Condor replied to camos's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That o-ring is available from Yamaha. Make sure the plastic isn't cracked by someone over tightening the screws and causing the leak. There are no gaskets used. -
Buzz question again

Buzzing or viabration can be an indication of out of sync carbs...?? -
I've been runing Garmin Streetpilots c550's for a while now and they are 'bluetoothed' to my cell. They look like a Zumo 550, but don't have the sunlight readable screen and a few other do-dads. And they are cheap because since being discontinued by Garmin the only place you can find one is on Ebay. Anyway they work great. I would think any Garmin GPS with Bluetooth would be compatable with the Scala unless the Scala is the weird format, but I wouldn't really think so??

Not all AGM's are equal. There are a lot of things internally that can be altered to cheapen the design... and performance. Generally if you stick with a US made battery it's pretty good. I had a Bike Master AGM die in a year. Finally found the 'Made in Taiwan' in very small text on it. I also have a 'Made in China' AGM that is the same footprint as the Odyssey PC680 that I bought to check out. Although the stated CC's were equivalent to the 680, they weren't. Almost killed it on an all day ride playing the tape deck. So just because it says it's an AGM doesn't neccessarily mean it's great.

Just a side note on the locks. They may work better than OEM's on a 2ndGen. I found on the '99 that the gap between the body and the loop it greater than the 1stGen's and will allow someone to undo the clasp, and it will slide through. Maybe it's just mine, but they aren't the greatest. Been thinking about swapping them out for a set off a 1stGen.... :cody

Try this place for AGM's. The shipping free since it comes via Flat Rate Priority. Best battery... best price. I buy all my AGM's from them. Nice thing about the DEKA AGM is you don't have to baby sit them to maintain them. http://www.bohannonbattery.com/html/deka/etx20l.html

Riding boots that are made for motorcycle riders.
Condor replied to FuzzyRSTD's topic in Riding Gear
They look just like the pair of EMT's I bought off Ebay except the sole lugs aren't quite as agressive as those on the swats. The price is pretty decent. A couple of bucks more than what I paid. Thanks for the link it's a keeper. -

It's tough finding a pair in my size, but I got lucky and found a pair of EMT boots with the side zipper.... Love 'm.... -

Thanks for the feedback James. It sure doesn't look like the clamp has enough height to hold anything up, but I'll take your word for it. The straps are a good idea.... just because...
-
I've been looking at the pics of the ramp, and I gotta ask. What's keeping the bike upright. That clamp can't do it, can it?? I'd think there'd be something like a front wheel chock to keep the bike up???? BTW I just received a 'Super Coupon' flyer in the mail with the price of $299. I hoped the 20% off coupon could be used with it, but reading the fine print it can't.... Dang!!

Hard To Find engine chrome
Condor replied to rrbarrick's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The best source I've found is Ebay, and patients. Just when you find something make sure it's not still available thru Y. Luckily the previous owner put a lot of bling on the bike. I made a list of the aftermarket and VentureLine stuff that had been installed.. I'm sure I missed a couple of things.. and the total came to almost $5 grand. More than I paid for the bike... Whew!! -
Nice job Dave.... :cody

We have a cork screw system right off the coast, like I've never seen before, dousing us with fluids like a pigmy that drank too much beer.... Glad I have a boat out back.... :cody
