  1. You'd have better luck cutting the heel off what you have now. Mint H/T's are very common while the toe shifter is rarer than chicken lips, and are no longer available. And bring $100+ bucks on Ebay when they show up. A little late here... Geeze I didn't absorb the 1stGen part of the post. Shift levers for the 1stGen's are all over the place.... Go get one off Ebay....
  2. Thanks for the reminder Goose. Gotta go do that....
  3. It could be a burned out neutral blub......
  4. Thanks for the input. I've wondered if the clutch baskets were interchangeable, and would cure the whine. I often opined if you could even use the 83-85 basket, and then end up with a 6 spring pressure plate and skip the Barnet conversion.???
  5. 'oooo' steel wool.... It's found on very small steel sheep....
  6. Looks like he's back in Canada and overnighted in Barrie. ROCKET
  7. You might try using that rubber bead they sell for installing screens in doors. Comes in a couple of sizes.
  8. I think they are too Brad. I've seen them listed, but just went thru all my saved links and couldn't find them. I'll keep searching. Do you just need a lens.... or?? OK see if something here isn't what you need... http://www.motosport.com/cruiser/category/Cruiser-Parts/Lighting/Accent-Lighting
  9. How 'bout when you're not riding? There's always a slight difference in the gear train 'noise' when the clutch is engaged, or not, at idle. But also wonder if your getting the noise at higher RPM's on the sidestand with clutch in or out...?? All this does is seperate areas in the clutch-engine-drive train. Helps isolate the source a little better.
  10. Will it make the noise in neutral at higher RPM's with the lever in or out??
  11. Why don't you ask them if a large drip pan under the bike would work?? They make some very large metal types for cars... I can understand their concern, and they have to draw the line somewhere. Can you emagine what the place would look like if one of these salvers started dismantling a bikes in one of the units and selling them on Ebay...
  12. Yep they're all the same, and these get the 'Condor' Seal of Approval Very nice. ......
  13. I've never heard the term 'bundling' before. Years ago in California a person could get double coverage and payouts from two different companies, say from their auto policy and company medical insurance, but they have closed that loop-hole and made it illegal. Years ago I was rear ended and got whip-lash. My auto paid off, and so did my wifes company medical. Didn't expect it, but got it anyway. A little side note on the Geico flaming that's going on here about them quoting cheaper premiums by reducing coverages. Folks have it backwards. Tell them what coverage you want, and then get a quote of the premium for comparison. Don't tell them what your current premium, and ask them to beat it. Of course they will... at the expense of your overall coverage. Just like the company you are with now if you ask them to reduce your premium. I've had excellent service from Geico, but if you're uncomfortable dealing online, then by all means see an agent.
  14. OK, my apologies.... Hey, can't be right all the time. Good to know. This subject has been discused in the past, where was this info then?? So can I assume that we can put an 85-93 trunk on our 83-84's without a lot of modification???
  15. One of our local women riders had an 18 wheeler trailer run over the top of her. She came close to not making it. One year in the hosipital and tons of surgery she's still with us and riding again. Albeit on a Can-Am Spider. Big semi's will always win...
  16. Nope, the '87 MKII is a 3 piece set up while the '85 still takes the one piece like the MKI '83-'84. The '85 trunk is sorta unique as it's larger like the MKII's but shaped like the MKI's.
  17. Sounds like the rectifyer... There were some Indian Rectifiers purchased by members about a year or so ago. Much better unit than OEM. You might try posting to see if they have all been installed. You might be able to scare one up. Times and intentions do change....
  18. Tentative plans are to leave NorCal early Friday morning, the 22nd, and overnighting at the Motel 6 in Wendover Utah that night. The next morning heading to Cody via Rock Springs Wy, and getting there late afternoon. It'll be a couple of long days in the saddle, but you can collapse and recouperate all day Sunday... Anyone from the area planning on doing the trip are welcome to join up. Breakfast will be at Brookfields Resturant I-80 at the Madison Ave exit in Sacramento....
  19. Yep, that's all the time left to order VR International T-Shirts. July 1st is the deadline. The reason is in order to get the shirts to the See the CODYFlyer for all the info, and the Pre-Registration Form for sizes and prices. There are still a few Trailer Tickets left... I think?? I you do decided to add trailer raffle tickets to your form, and the 300 have been previously spoken for, we'll refund that part of your Paypal payment. So don't be bashfull.... These Cody T's are really cool... :cody
  20. I'd try to pick one up off Ebay for cheap that's guarantee'd not to be DOA. Swap it out and hope for the best. If nothing else it'll make a good addition to your 'stash' bucket.. On the 1stGen's there are three white wires coming out of the stator that go in and out of a connector under the side cover. Not sure if the 2ndGen has anything similar, but that connector will get dirty, get hot, and melt. Might be another place to look?? If it is on the 2-Gen, removing the connector and soldering the wires together will get things running again.
  21. I'd have one ready, but sometimes we get lucky and the old one stays together... The wires for the gear indicator don't go into the stator housing....
  22. Nope...don't look good. Although I'm surprised that the voltage didn't drop more while turning over?? This is a little related. The rectifyer on my '83 looked fine but was doing the same thing. Swapped it out for another 'stash' unit and it was good to go. Just for kicks and giggles I think I'd try another retifyer before going for the juggler...
  23. So what's happening that you need to rebuild the brakes??
  24. Did you happen to check the volts at the battery posts while running?? And if so what were you getting??
  25. OK I see it now... But that is one ugly gasket...
