  1. Yep, I agree with Don. Not many members in the area, and if any are like me they avoid the city like the plague. The place is a zoo.... Now if you ever get up to the port of Sacramento or Stockton, give me a shout....
  2. I originally went with Venoms on the '83VR on Buddy Rich's recommendation back in '07. Loved the handling, but was one of the first to experience bad... actually scary.. front tire sidewall cracking after Venture West Susanville. Avon replaced the tire with another with only 2 months difference in the DOT date.. About 6 month later the second one started to go, but not quite as bad... Replaced the second, and #3 is doing good at 6K miles with Ft Collins and Cody '09 on them. So third time must be the charm... I decided to go with the E3's on the '99RSV because of the similar tread pattern to the Venom's. So far no problems, but I haven't logged a lot of miles on them either. What puzzles me that some riders are getting great performance from the Avons, while others are not. Since they told Don that there has been no change in the compound formula, what is causing the problem?? Avon has been very tight lipped on the subject... Quality control??
  3. That schematic should help, plus here's a few of the underside and inside. Me thinks I need to get in there and clean up some chrome...
  4. I'll try to take a few pics later today, but maybe somebody will beat me to it??
  5. We lost my wife's father to lung cancer. He was a smoker. 7 years later we lost her mom to the same type cancer and she never smoked a day in her life. Second hand smoke does kill.... Prayers to you, your mom, and your family.
  6. Not only are we getting down to the wire with 11 tickets left, but there are only 13 days left before the gavel falls and the sale is over. Who's going to buy the last ticket??
  7. Yep, the views are breath taking, and after July a lot of members are going to be able to say 'Been there... Done that'.... Truly a bucket list ride.
  8. Whazat?? 68f...?? Hey I'm good down to 50.. My ridin' rules are between 50 and 80 and dry.... Left my vents open on the skid lid the last time we went over BearTooth and it was 35f at the top. I dang near froze the tops of my ears off. Couldn't figure out why they hurt so much until the pain started to go away when it warmed up in Red Lodge.. :cody
  9. Maybe they're the child proof variety.....
  10. Just relating my experiences, you probably have something going on I'm not familiar with...
  11. I've had the slow idle return on several bikes. Everytime it was a sync problem in that the idle was being controlled by the right side carbs and not #2. It usually happens when a previous owner adjusts the idle by using the sync screw next to #4. It will actually work... sorta.... but it will screw up the sync. The bikes always responded by backing off the rightside carbs, and the #1 carb and starting from scratch with the #2 carb controlling the idle. Afterwards the throttle is responsive and returns quickly to a smooth idle.
  12. I've been wondering lately on what the road conditions over Beartooth Pass would be like for the Rally in Cody. With all the weather they've been getting, and BT always being dicey, I thought it still might be snowed in. Not so. The highway is actually open thanks the the various agencies responsible for road up keep. It might be a tad cold and it would be a good idea to bring your cold weather gear. It even got a little nippy on top in '09. Here's the site for up-to-date reports. BEERTOOTH Looks like it'll dry out by late July. :cody
  13. You'd have better luck cutting the heel off what you have now. Mint H/T's are very common while the toe shifter is rarer than chicken lips, and are no longer available. And bring $100+ bucks on Ebay when they show up. A little late here... Geeze I didn't absorb the 1stGen part of the post. Shift levers for the 1stGen's are all over the place.... Go get one off Ebay....
  14. Thanks for the reminder Goose. Gotta go do that....
  15. It could be a burned out neutral blub......
  16. Thanks for the input. I've wondered if the clutch baskets were interchangeable, and would cure the whine. I often opined if you could even use the 83-85 basket, and then end up with a 6 spring pressure plate and skip the Barnet conversion.???
  17. 'oooo' steel wool.... It's found on very small steel sheep....
  18. Looks like he's back in Canada and overnighted in Barrie. ROCKET
  19. You might try using that rubber bead they sell for installing screens in doors. Comes in a couple of sizes.
  20. I think they are too Brad. I've seen them listed, but just went thru all my saved links and couldn't find them. I'll keep searching. Do you just need a lens.... or?? OK see if something here isn't what you need... http://www.motosport.com/cruiser/category/Cruiser-Parts/Lighting/Accent-Lighting
  21. How 'bout when you're not riding? There's always a slight difference in the gear train 'noise' when the clutch is engaged, or not, at idle. But also wonder if your getting the noise at higher RPM's on the sidestand with clutch in or out...?? All this does is seperate areas in the clutch-engine-drive train. Helps isolate the source a little better.
  22. Will it make the noise in neutral at higher RPM's with the lever in or out??
  23. Why don't you ask them if a large drip pan under the bike would work?? They make some very large metal types for cars... I can understand their concern, and they have to draw the line somewhere. Can you emagine what the place would look like if one of these salvers started dismantling a bikes in one of the units and selling them on Ebay...
  24. Yep they're all the same, and these get the 'Condor' Seal of Approval Very nice. ......
