  1. Aw common Russ... It's going to be framed... It'll look great on the wall, and when you get old it'll bring back some great memories....
  2. Me thinks the Freebird is feelin' good tonight..
  3. Whoa!! Don, that's one heck of a bid for the last ticket only... I'm sitting here trying to think of something whimsical to say but I can't. I'm also trying to think how we can work this out?? Now if I take the three outright for $25 bucks, and leave the last one on the bidding table, I'm afraid no one would bid against you.... I think?? Then again maybe someone would?? OK, here's the deal. I'm going to take the 3 tickets outright for $25 bucks, leaving the final ticket on the auction block. Anyone with cajones big enough to up the anti, post your your bid here on this thread. Vic and I will make sure you get ticket #300....
  4. Yeesh!!! It's only the last four... and the last one comes along for the ride.... Sometimes ya gotta buy the whole enchilada just to get what you really want. Biddings still open.... to everyone... So far I'm in the drivers seat... Bidding closes Friday 7/1/2011 at 6PM in case anyone feels like sniping...
  5. Hey Russ,, My 'bid' is $30. Wanna up it?? The winner could be in there....
  6. Welcome to the site. It looks like you're going to need more than just the LH upper fairing. The sub-dash/speaker housing doesn't look in too gooda shape either. Don't toss that chrome vent when you do find one off an '86.
  7. Trailer Ticket Auction.... I'll give ya $30 bucks for the last 4 tickets.....
  8. I guess I'm not that old after all. My favorite fast food place was McDonalds. 15¢ burgers and 10¢ fries....
  9. OK so you've been around a while. And to answer your question, the manual does not explain how to tell when the tank is full. I guess you can empty the tank and then put 5.3 USgallons in it (manual)...stop pumping... and that's where it should be when it's full.... unless it's very hot or very cold, and that a whole 'nother subject. Since you are already sitting upright, just fill it up to the bottom of the neck and be done with it. BTW 33mpg with the Voyager Kit and two up ain't all that bad.
  10. I just stuff the nozzel in the neck, and when it clicks off I quit pumping. Next time do it again and divide the miles traveled by the gallons. Should give you a good idea of the MPG. Close enough anyway. If your heading out on a trip and want to make sure it's up to max full, top it off on the center stand and ride. On the '83 I'd usually start looking for a station around 150-165 miles. At 150 it'd take 3.0 to 3.2 gallons in the twisties, and 3.8 to 3.9 out on the slab.
  11. MKI clutch assembly should replace the RSV or MKII clutch assembly. Like I stated above we discussed it, but haven't tried it. But unless there's some drastic redesign of the clutch in the RSV's... the same bike that still comes with a tape deck... it should work..... The only way to find out for sure is give it a shot....
  12. This is just a guess but maybe an inline resistor is needed to make up for the difference in electrical draw?? There's several tech articles on how to solder the CMU if the red light was a problem before you did the mod.
  13. The MKI pressure plate will not fit the MKII basket. Barnett makes a conversion plate that will.... I looked into doing this and talked it over with Rick at Buckeye about it way back when. If you use the MKI basket there's no need to go to the Barnett to get the 6 spring plate. So anyone who's thinking about doing this, and buying one off Ebay, make sure it's a MKI clutch.
  14. We have a buckle maker who has donated to the Cody Rally. http://www.cast-aways.com/CODYPICS/exoticstainless.gif The link is on the DONOR PAGE
  15. I have. Put MKII forks on the '83 with R1 calipers. Left the AD's on and buried the wiring, and moved the Progressives over from the old forks. You also need to use the MKII rotors. Bought all the parts off Ebay over a period of time. Total outlay was a little over $125 for the front fork/triple tree assembly, R1's, and Rotors. Vast improvement over the OEM 2 piston calipers.
  16. What weight oil are you using?? Around here I go to 20w50 during the hot months, and 10w40 during the winter.
  17. Nah.... Then I'd just go out and buy a Harley, and get one of them accessory drip pans....
  18. Whew!!! You rock Brad. Got tears reading that one.....
  19. I'd think it all depends on why you need to replace the header?? If it's rust due to your climate, humidity, and salt water inviornment, I'd replace both... just because. If you crunched it, and the other side looks OK then replace the one side. Never have had to replace the header but being on the outside it shouldn't be all that much of a hassle...
  20. I sold out of the group buy fork braces late last year, but lately a few members have expressed interest in more... so I just ordered another 10 braces and they should be shipped out this Friday. If anyone is interested go to FORK BRACES for pricing and pics. For those newer members that aren't sure what an improved brace will do, they make the forks works together, improving straight line stopping, rough roads, and making it easier to hold a line when cornering. One of the best bang for the buck improvements you can install on your bike. Condor
  21. I can't get used to the H/T shifter so going to Toe only. Plus I'm seriously considering getting rid of the floorboards and going with pegs....
  22. I thought about that too, but if he looses his ISP can he still pull the money out of Paypal?? Maybe a snail mail check would be more helpfull??? If enough of the 'family' get together and send a few bucks I bet we can ease the pain. That's what families are for... Right??
  23. Great Job!!
  24. Your '83 CB was aftermarket. The '89 should have a PTT CB control on the left side near the clutch reserve.
  25. That really frosts me when companies do that. Dangle the carrot, and then make it super difficult to get it. $50 bucks is fifty bucks and the customer should be able to use it anyway they wish. If they were truthful and told about all their restrictions up front they might not have had as many buyers. Another strike against Avon....
