Shift lever/housing/shaft broken
Condor replied to GilbertHall's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I guess what you're welding is the stator housing. When you get it off you should be able to see the shift rods and check for any other damage. As far as feel goes it may..or not... change. If you have floorboards you probably also have the heel/toe shifter, and it may be applying too much torque with your style shifting??? Bleeding the clutch is done at the slave bleeder valve. -
Thanks. That settles that. Gonna get rid of the headset speakers....
-
Because I have about 5 or 6 headsets. Might as well.... ?? Good point. Anyone have trouble transmitting on the CB when an RSV is on dash speaker??
-
While coming back from Cody with a stator that was putting out a charge I could finally turn on the CB to listen via the dash speakers since I didn't have a helmet with wired up with J&M's. I could hear everything Vic said thru the dash speakers, and I could reply... 1 click=yes, 2 clicks= no, and 3 or more clicks= did you see that set of....?? Now I'm thinking about cutting off the speakers of the headset, and just wiring in the mic. Think it might work to transmit only?? I have the room to mount the mic, it's those thick speakers that are a PITA. Beside I hardly ever listen to audio anyway... Whatcha think??

The big difference between the MarkI (83-85) forks and the MKII(86-93) is the spread between the caliper mounting holes. The MKI's are 88mm and the MKII's are 100mm.

Fixed the cotton picker.... Still not sure exactely what the problem might have been. It was a toss up between the VGA port on the graphics card being bad because of no use, the VGA cable supplied with the monitor being bad. or possibily the VGA port on the monitor being bad. What I ended up doing is buying two cables to do some testing before sending the monitor back. One VGA-VGA, and one DVI-HDMI. Tried the later first and it worked. I now have red, and I ain't screwing with it no more. Picture is as sharp as a tack, and the color is awesome....

Don't see any mention of syncing the carbs after the cleaning. Might also consider changing the plugs..... -

There are several studies that have been done about hearing loss and wind noise while wearing a helmet and riding a motorcycle. It may be the biggest contributing factor why so many of us need hearing aids....?? Here's a excerpt from one such article at: http://www.ridemyown.com/articles/safety/earplugs.shtml Now how does all this tie into riding motorcycles? Well, we all know that there is a lot of wind noise when we ride at speeds of about fifty miles per hour or more. And for those of us who ride with little or no fairing or windshield this noise can be pretty loud. Exposure to this degree of noise will cause damage to those hair cells that are located in the hearing portion of our ears. This is not a “maybe will cause“, but is a “it will cause“ situation. How much damage and how long before enough damage is done before we notice is unpredictable. Some people are much more susceptible than others and may sustain damage much, much sooner than someone else exposed to the same conditions. And this is where ear plugs will help. I’ve focused on wind noise, but any relatively loud noise will do the same thing-loud exhaust systems, hammering, power tools, lawn mowers (yes including the new quiet ones), weed eaters, and on and on. The use of ear plugs will certainly lower the volume of the noise you are exposed to, but surprisingly will aid your hearing to some degree at freeway speeds. The frequency (pitch) of the wind noise is very effectively muted while lower frequencies much less so. Now don’t get me wrong, you’re not going to put in ear plugs and go out for a ride and find no wind noise, but the wonderful mechanical and exhaust sounds unaffected. But, what you will find is that you’ll still be able to hear the engine well enough to gauge engine speed or telltale signs of a problem. You’ll also be surprised just how tiring the wind noise had been and how much less fatigue there will be after a ride. I routinely ride with a half dozen other people who rarely if ever used ear plugs until I started riding with them. Five of the six now routinely use them, and the sixth does when he thinks about it. Each of my friends already has some degree of hearing loss and each thought what difference will wearing ear plugs make if I already have trouble hearing. Beside being less tired at the end of a ride, by using plugs they are protecting what hearing they have left. The damage that has already been done is permanent, but if a person does not protect what hearing they have, further damage will occur. Whatever loss you presently have will worsen if you continue to subject yourself to loud noise

Hey it has somethin' to do with water....

Yeah, and to think my first major in college was Electrical Engr. Good thing I switched to Marine Biology huh?? :rotf:

I think it does have a DVI, but it doesn't have the flat spade like the one in the pic that I posted.... What's the advantage of DVI over VGA??
-
Wish that was the problem on this one. Just checked both ends of the cable. Everything is perfect.....

That's the plug from the old monitor and apparently it works fine. Nice to know what to call it. I'm going to invest in another VGA cable and see what happens. If it's still FUBAR I'll return the thing to WOOT. Too bad 'cause it's a great monitor for the money.....
-
It does have an HDMI port. Maybe I'll give that a try. Already tried that... No luck... Here's a pic of the plug Rick. You tell me... I've never run into one of these before. It came with the 19" Dell LCD Monitor. The card has this and a VGA port in it... The old monitor has a VGA port also. At least it looks like a VGA... 9 pin..?? The new monitor has an HDMI. Don't see why it can't be hooked up to a cable box??
-
Thanks Rick. I did, and installed the updated driver for the Monitor. Rebooted. Still no good news. I can't verify the VGA cable is good since I don't have another to compare it to... It may be the cable???

Need some advice guys. I picked up a refurb 'famous maker' (HP ) 23" LED monitor off WOOT a couple of weeks ago. Installed it using the VGA cable and I'm not getting any reds ecept when I bring up the internal RBG control menu. On the internal RGB adjustment the bar shows nice red/green/blue colors, but the screen is only shows BLUE and GREEN. Thought it might be the VGA cable so fiddled with it, but no improvement(red). The computor is a DELL XPS 400 that I picked up 2-3 years ago. I have no problem with the color display with the original Dell Monitor using their priority cable, but now I'm wondering if the original Graphics Card is doing it's job?? The optimum resolution is 1920x1080. I can get close and the screen is really sharp but the resolution adjustment only offers 13 something by 8 something?? WOOT offered to take it back at their cost, but I'm not ready to give up on this thing yet. Any ideas??
