Sorry Zane, I interpreted your post to read that you also had to swap out the MKI AD's to the MKII forks.... My bad....- 14 replies

You can't swap out the AD's. The MKI's are hydralic and the MKII's are electrical. When I changed mine to the MKII's I left the AD's on but didn't wire them up. Progressives and the CLASS took care of any 'diving' when hitting the brakes...- 14 replies

Tried the link and got an 'item removed' notice. So I guess it's a done deal. The set I put on the '83 I didn't even have to change the pads. They worked fine. 'Course anything that helped on the '83 was an improvement....- 14 replies

I picked up a set of mint Blue Dots with the stainless lines for $40 bucks. If the lines will fit I'll put them on the '99... No way they'll fit a MkI... Actualy if I remember correctly I have a rear that has a stainless wandering around here somewhere??? BTW both of the R1 calipers wil fit in a medium flat rate box @ $15 bucks to ship. Don't let them get to ya....- 14 replies

I'm not sure on the '85 either, but if if it does have 4 piston front calipers they should be plug and play. I usually just replace the fronts, and leave the rear alone. I've picked up several really nice front sets off Ebay for $40-$50 bucks. Blue dot or Gold... doesn't make much difference. $100 for the 3 sounds a little steep. I'd do a search daily when looking, and eventually someone lists a set that really wants to sell them. They are not a rare item. Look at THESE. Do an Ebay search for R1 Calipers or R6 calipers.- 14 replies

I think I picked up the Mercedes off a news report, but OK BMW if it makes any difference.... All those german cars look the same.

Dan.. Any R1 or R6 caliper where the mounting bolts are on the side and horizontal will fit your '86. The type that won't work are those with the mounting bolts are on top and vertical. They're sorta easy to distinguish. The vertical calipers look like a brick. Trying to figure out what years will work gives me a headache....- 14 replies

Everyone's coming out with a V4. I'd like to see a V6 built on the new V-Max engine to give the BMW1600 a run. Maybe two configurations. Cruiser/Bagger, and Sports Tourer. FI, full analog guages on the CB, and LCD cluster on the T, integrated audio/cb on both, ABS and Traction control, slipper 6 speed. Also wouldn't mind seeing a V6 super bike.

Ditto on the driver... but he was driving a Mercedes... The other part of this I don't understand is how in the 'H' did the rider end up so far under the Mercedes??? And no helmet, no jacket, no boots... no nothing....

Unless you get spring resistence from the clutch pack pressue plate to return the fluid into the master the slave will bottom out to max and then not go anywhere. Check the pressure plate...

green light triggers
Condor replied to mike042's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I was always getting stuck in left turn lanes with the '83. One day a bunch of us were visiting the local BMW shop and the service manager talked me into one of those 'new improved' magnets... I went out and zip tied it to my center stand leg. Left hand hang ups were no longer an issue. The only time I would get hung up is on one of those mechanical triggers that needed a cars weight to make it go. Plus around here a lot of the left turn controls are now radar controlled. I haven't had any problems with the '99 because of that.... maybe??? -
You're gonna have to remove the basket again and check assembly. Check that the push rods are moving correctly by gently squeezing the lever and keeping a finger on the rods. The pressure plate may not be installed right. It only fits one way. Keep rotating it untill it seats down on the discs.... Bet that takes care of you problem.... Don't ask me how I know that.... Installing progressives
Condor replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yep, pitch #3... Also I noticed that in the second pic the cup washer is on the wrong end. It goes between the spring and the PVC, and the cup portion fits into the PVC, not into the spring end. That keeps the spring from chewing up the plastic and the plastic centered in the column. I also found two of those washers in my '83..one for each end.., and I cut one PVC in half. Don't know what the preload length ended up being, but it worked...- 8 replies

I sat on BigBob's while we were in Cody. Not built for large economy sized folks.... I didn't even move and it was uncomfortable.... Enjoy your ride....

Actually it's the reverse.... Wind resistence and 5th gear use fuel like a horse eating oats. When running in the twisties and using 2-3-4, braking in second and powering out of the curves will give surprizing mpg results... And I'm not the only one on this board who's found that out. I know it sounds goofy, but it's true.
