Gives me another reason to stay away from Street Vib's in Reno. Too much 1% activity.... Seems like every time something is successful it doesn't take long before they start screwing it up.

There's another small history arrow next to the page forward/back arrows in the menu bar. Click on it for a drop down menu and go directly back to the thread page. Saves lots of time.... Saying thanks is easy.... -
anyone have a guage pod for sale
Condor replied to 54chevybelair's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The patent is owned by the Venturer's. They purchased the remaining stock and the patent from the estate, but no one knew where the molds were. I suspect they are still laying around on the shelf of the mold maker somewhere in the S.F. Bay area. I've contacted Brent to see about making copies of the one I now have... The Venturers intertained the possibly of making more, but found that cost to produce exceed demand potential. The pod will hit the OEM riser caps, and I had given thought to modifying the pod to clear them along with a few other changes. Clearing Barons risers would be next to impossible. I did contact a couple of vacuum molding companies and didn't get a return. I didn't persue it because of getting wrapped up with this years International Rally. But... just last week I found a production shop in the East Bay area that might be a source. I plan on contacting them this week to discuss possibilities. I thought that the pods could be sold without guages and let folks put in their own. Stayed tuned... -
Bleed the clutch and check the expansion hole it's probably plugged. While you were riding the country lanes the motor didn't get all that hot, but when in Branson in stop and go the fluid heated up and started to expand, and since the reserve hole was plugged it started to push on the slave piston, and the clutch started slipping... A good indicator is after it sits for a while and cools off the clutch will start to work again.... until things start to heat back up. If you ever get to that point that you're standed take an 8mm open end and crack open the bleeder valve briefly. It should take pressure off the slave and let you get back to civilization...

Actually you can compile a group of favorite imocons that will appear at the bottom of your post editor, and are available without having to bring up another page to search through. Makes things real easy to comment on a post without having to jump through hoops... Without realy looking I think the feature is located in your CP?? -

Take a look at the Garmin c550 Streetpilot. Has everything you need and does a great job. I own 2. Looks just like the Zumo. I picked them up off Ebay in like new condition. One for $80 and the other for $55. Bluetooth to link to your cell, MP3 that can be plugged into the aux jack by the tape deck, and a GPS... Waddda deal....

You can get to the back of the speakers by taking out the turn signals to check the speaker plugs. Might be the first place to look... Also remove your radio cluster and clean the contacts underneath the controls. They have a tendency to get a little grody... You also need to add the year of your Venture to the sig line under your handle, or mention it in you post so we don't have to guess or go to your CP file to find out.

Think a change of underwear would be in order after this...

That happened to me while runing along the Sacramento River a few years ago. I went into a blind right curve, got about half way thru it, and an SUV had crossed over the center line cutting the corner. I had to lay the bike farther over and pray it would stay stuck to the road. That's about the time I fell in love with Avon Venoms. I missed that dam car by inches... Took a few minutes to get the heart started again.... -
Can't get carb sync going.
Condor replied to goatman123's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Agree'd. Don't back them off until they fall out, but do back them off a few turns. IF a PO has tried to set the idle using the #4 sync screw the whole sync will be screwed up and the carbs will be next to impossible to resync. You really don't need to get into the venturies. Just back off all the synch screws and start from scratch..... -
The trick is to not ride in the rain, and to stay out of the oily center of the lane if you can't... Glad you came out of it only slightly dented Rick....

The other alternative might be to sell the bike in Calgary and be done with it. By the time he factors in the costs to ship it, and what he could get out of it, he could buy another locally... unless it's sentamental...
