  1. I just measured the spare H/T I have and the pegs are 13" inside to inside. Not much room. I was always hitting the heel peg and not let it come back up for the next shift. PITA. If you think 13" is tight you should try a 1stGen H/T. 9" between pegs. Anyway I just got rid of the heel peg also, but went with the Venture Line. IMO the toe is easier to use because the foot is all you have to move. With the heel the whole leg needs to be lifted.
  2. Ask for the 10 and maybe they'll give you early retirement.... After all what good are you going to be with a gimpy foot....
  3. That would work.... It looks like you have the same?? highway pegs too. I've actually been giving some thought on shortening the front peg by an inch or so.. I get along fine with the short 1stGen pegs, and the larger peg seems to get in the way a bit... big feet ...
  4. Knew what you meant... Didn't know that they didn't take air....
  5. Sure as long as it's an 1800cc, less than 4 years old, and in coast to coast condition.... so's I could sell it and buy a couple more 2ndGens....
  6. Do you still run the same air pressure in the front forks as you did prior to the Ricor's??
  7. Why is everything so dang expensive in Canada??
  8. It may be over kill. I was pretty happy with the progressives in the '83. Just thought I'd ask if anyone had tried them yet??
  9. Installation of the center stands on 2ndGens all have that problem if they are smog emissions equiped. Attached is a copy of the installation of a Rivco CT. Maybe it'll help, and yes the valve can be relocated.
  10. Outstanding.... Brad, when you see him tell 'm Condor needs to order a tape deck plate...
  11. I'm familiar with the Race Tech Imulators, but ran across this info on another board, and found it very interersting. Anyone here gone this route?? I'm thinking the Ricor Valve, plus the ease of installation, along with a set of Progressives just might be a great way to go. They are pricy but not much different from the Race Tech's..
  12. Thanks for the bit of Venture Lore Greg. I didn't realize that the UK Venture was so limited. It might have been mentioned in the past, but if it was, I missed it....
  13. When I rebuilt the Bubbs I used Ceramic packing. The original fiberglass... or whatever Bubb uses... was completely gone when I took them apart, and the previous owner was complaining that they were too loud. So far I've put around 4000 miles on them and with the Ceramic they seem to be holding the decibels. Nice rumble at idle, a little bark when hitting it, and hardley noticable while cruising down the highway. I picked the Ceramic up from an Ebay seller.
  14. I wouldn't waste my time changing the rear Dan. It'll work just fine with the R1's.... I R1..U12?
  15. Hmmm?? I thought you were asking me if I knew how to use the front brakes?? My bad, guess I was mistaken. Can't answer for anyone else.... can you??
  16. The '86 already has 4 piston calipers, and they don't realy need any help.... unless you want to add those cool looking blue or gold 'dots' with the R!'s...
  17. Yep that too... Goes without saying, I'm still here.... Any more 'Yes buts' out there???
  18. The '86-'93 Venture 1300 was not sold in the UK??? Wow!! That's a tid bit of info I was not aware of.....
  19. Oh Oh.... Annies ticked. Alan.. better run....
  20. My wife and I walked the Wall 25 years ago. One way.. we couldn't go back....
  21. I never could get use to Heel/Toe floor boards on the '91 so pulled them off and sold them. I also got rid of the H/T shifter on the '99.
  22. Just thinking a bit here... but harmonics will loosen bolts over a period of time... It could come from tire tread, or the final or?? You may have put the bolts on and after 3 days they finally worked their way out. If you had left them out originally the problem would have started emediately. Probably not torqued down enough. You might want to pull them out again a put a dab of Loc-Tite on them to make sure... I think??
  23. No I haven't Gary. Never found the need to try one. However, I have been riding motorcycles for over 50 years with seperate rear brakes, and am actually pretty good at controlling rear brake pressure in a panic stop on many different bikes before ever riding a linked '83 Venture. I finally did go to the R1/HH/MKII mod, and the improvement over the '83 OEM was like night and day, and I didn't touch the rear brake or either master. Granted the R1 mod is more money than de-linking, but with de-linking all you've really done is doubled up on front braking with poor calipers. Doing both may be to the point of over kill. Like brakes that are too weak they can be too touchy as well.
  24. R1 calipers, and HH pads, with MKII forks would have made life even better without de-linking...
