muffler help
Condor replied to newfiedad's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
In the past I'm sure there were quite a few companies making 1stGen exhausts. Unfortunately the last two, MAC and Jardine, have finally stopped making any plug and plays. There have been a few that have used Harley's and I think I remember one 'Cherry Bomb' glass pack installation from a few years back?? They would both need smoozing... Check with Dano on this board. I think?? he may have removed the MAC's on his '84. He might still have them.... -

muffler help

I'd suggest replacing them. Rust outside probably means rust inside. Just make sure you pick up a set that will fit the 83-85 VR. The '86 and up have a different thicker mounting tab.... Have the seller send you pics of that tab to make sure they look like the muffler tab you have. A lot will swear that one size fits all because they really don't know what the 'H' they're talking about.... -

I'd say no since it has the remote adjustment and truck bracket screws. Yes it can be done, but pack a lunch.... -
Hey..hey..hey.. Now wait a minute....

I've had thoughts about buying a Go-Pro but the price turned me off, as well as the hard line price fixing aloofness that they had. But... the Drift looks interesting, and I found one place that has them priced at $209 when doing a Google. I also found this nicely done... I think... Youtube that gives a pretty good sales pitch for one. Christmas is coming... Hmmm?? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BW3521vp_1Y]Drift HD170 Camera Review at RevZilla.com - YouTube[/ame]

Generally they are spread out over sometimes days. To have this many in a 4 hour period and still be rocking is really unusual. If you keep double clicking on the chart it will keep magnifying the image until you can seperate the events. Looks like someone hit the area with a load of birdshot.... Hmmmm?? I wonder if this has anything to do with me tripping over the bike trailer tongue and taking a header in the middle of the front yard yesterday morning???

I'm kinda a weather nut so I'm always interested in things having to do with earth changes. Some of you may have heard of the happenings in Turkey, but I've never seen anything like what's happening right now. Check out http://quakes.globalincidentmap.com/ A couple of 7+'s and a bunch of 5's in the last couple of hours. Wonder what's going on???

After looking at the smaller RSV rear view mirrors I thought they wouldn't offer nearly as good a view as the larger mirrors on a 1stGen. Surprisingly.. for me anyway.. they actually gave a better view. And looking around my wide body ain't easy... However putting any type of button stick on convex would take up too much room. I have seen buttons as a stand alone attachments which might work better, but again... for me.. I don't see the need...

Is there any reason why highway pegs wouldn't work?? They also make a highway floorboard that looks kinda nice if you want something with a wider foot rest....

drilling holes for trunk rack
Condor replied to mike042's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When I replaced the trunk on the '83 I set the rack on the new lid and aligned it the way I wanted. Then drew circles around the feet. Took it off and drilled through the center of the circles. Worked for me... -
That's an awesome looking bike, and I like the aux. switch placement. Something I've never seen before......

If you haven't done so you might try going back to a Dino oil. My '99 makes a little noise... 'bout the same as the '83... at lower R's once in a while when starting off, but it quickly disappears above 1500-2000 rpm. The p.o. of the '99 only used Dino, same as I used on the '83, and I don't know if that's the reason for the low whine, but I'm going to continue.... I think I read somewhere here that Y installed matched gear sets on the early Ventures...and I may have gotten lucky on the '99?? The 'I' basket may help, but you're never going to know unless you try....

LA Choppers Slip Ons

If you have them mounted tight to the bolt at the bottom of the saddle bag the whole bike must be swaying.... -
Just an FYI for anyone shipping something from US to Canada
Condor replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
That's a thought. I used to use GreyHound, once in a while years ago, but when I checked a little while ago it cost a ton, but it might be something to look into for Canada. -
ruh roh.... smoking a bit...
Condor replied to 86venturejay's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Check the inside of the air filter box. You may have blown some oil up in there when it was overfull. It'll run down the venturi and make an engine smoke... -
Just thinking.... This year we did a chilli cook off at the International in Cody. I bet a Corn feed at next years Rally in Buffalo would work. The first time I ever had BBQ'd corn was at our place in East Amherst a... er.... a long time ago, and I still remember it.... It musta made a heck of an impression....

I'm not sure what the deal is for totalled vehicles in Canada, but if they total the '85 do you get to buy it back for a few bucks?? It doesn't look all the bad and bet it could be TLC'd back into riding mode very easily. Most of the damage looks to be the left upper. Keep eatin' dem Motrin....
