  1. 10-4 on Leatherby's Elk Grove Bro- I don't know if they have wet fries, but if they don't I'll order up a pile of fries and a bowl of gravy and we can make our own...
  2. Wow compared to your ordeal I feel blessed... I know the feeling about that life sucking thing. At the 2011 International in Cody I could barely make it to the restaurant for dinner after riding all day on the way. Ask Lone Eagle?? I'd have to stop two or three times just to get there and generally most were next to the motel. Riding was OK, but walking sucked. When I got back to the barn I parked the scoot and didn't fire it up for over 3 years. After doing all sorts of tests for the heart, and finding nothing, just for the heck of it I filled out one of those DIY poop tests and sent it in. They called me immediately and scheduled a colonoscopy, and that's when they found the tumor. It was big. A month later they were slicing and dicing. Here's where the blessed part comes in. After surgery where they also took 16 of the lymph nodes and the nodes were all negative... The tumor was benign. It still took 21 days in recovery before they cut me loose. Lost 60 pounds in that time. I looked like death sucking on a soda cracker. It also took 6 months to gain back some of the weight before I even wanted to look at the bike again. So compared to what you've gone through I'm a piker biker.... My new thing is the heart. They did a angioplasty and found a blockage in one of the arteries. I thought they were going to stint it, but they decided to leave it alone 'cause there was evidence smaller capillaries were growing into the area, and by-passing the blockage. So I feel lucky... I think it's time for one more butter pecan ice cream and order of wet fries the next time you're visiting the kids... :-)
  3. That looks like it might be the ticket. If it doesn't have a posi in it drop in a Detroit Locker and yer good to go. I bet it could be made into a comfy sleeper.. Oh, the possibilities.....
  4. Hear ya amigo... When they did mine 6 years ago, I lost about 18" of pipe and I got a free appendectomy while they were at it, and my sex drive went up... now it's all in my head... :-)
  5. Is that when you were on a Fornication.... Sorry, just had to do it...
  6. WOW!! I thought I was the only one who's teeth that have gone to hell in a hand basket... Very timely subject Puc. My uppers are toast. The bottoms are OK, just a couple of molars that had root canals and then went bad after ten years or so.... So anyone thinking about a root canal...they don't last, and if you're going to fork over the cash you might as well get it done by getting implants. You will anyway later.... For some reason the uppers are a train wreck. They are disintegrating. I have some that have broken off below the gum line, and other where half the tooth cracked off. I had one bicuspid on the right side that got so loose I pulled it myself and saved $350 bucks for my dentist to do it. It was so loose the damn thing almost fell out... On the the Mexican implants. I've been looking at getting inplants for 6 months now. I came across a local dentist that does mini implants, which is basically dentures anchored with about 4 posts instead of trying to keep them from popping out when they are free floated?? I thought about talking to them to see about the cost, but the question does come up as to food particles getting under the denture?? There are lots of referal websites on having implants done south of the boarder and depending on the cost I may go that way.... Por Que no? It seems that there are quite a few dentistry websites.... My one nagging problem is how much longer am I going to be around, and would it be worth getting a new set of chompers
  7. Yeah, but what do they do to the scope to make it vibration proof and sell for less than a center fire rifle????? Curious mind wants to know.... I should have been born in Missouri.. Show ME.... OK I just got of the phone with Leupold and the tech stated that their rifle scopes will work on an air-gun. He couldn't vouch for other manufactures, but their's will.... And this is a fairly new phenomena with the newer high powered pellets. Certain brands of hi-power air rifles are really bad on scopes, but some more than others. I asked about viabration or harmonics and he said it had to do with the rebound of the piston against the air cushion of the chamber. The piston when fired form a high psi at the end of travel and not all the compressed air makes it out of the chamber and the piston 'bounces' back and then forward as the remainder of the air escapes. This keeps the piston from slamming into the end of the chamber. All this happens in a nano-second. So I would think that any high end scope would work on a break-rifle. El Cheapos, not so much... My 2¢
  8. I still don't believe it..... OK, I found this... https://www.airgundepot.com/air-rifle-scopes-overview.html It's a nice write up, but..... it still doesn't address what they do to make break barrel air-gun scopes resistant to this 'viabration'..., and sell them for pennys in comparison to rifle scopes... In my feeble brain it keeps thinking that because of the special construction of a Break-Air specialty scope they would actually cost more... not less.
  9. The seller can be either a private party or an FFL, it doesn't make any difference. The gun must be shipped to an FFL-1 or 7 or ?. That's dealer, repair, manufacture. All your FFL needs to do is supply the seller with their FFL number and they can check it here... https://fflezcheck.atf.gov/fflezcheck/ The info will include the shipping address etc. The decision as to whether you can legally purchase the gun is up to your FFL, not the sellers... You're not required to send them a thing. 'Cept Money.... :-) Here in California we have what is known as a CFLC (California Firearms License Check) where the shipper needs to register with CA and then apply for a shipping number via a phone call, plus include a copy of their FFL. The receiving FFL needs to fax or email the shipper a copy of their FFL. A lot of folks biatch about the system, but I like it. Takes all of the scam possibilities down to a bare minimum... A lot of dealers with their nose in the air refuse to go along with the program. I look at them as being a little seedy to begin with...
  10. Never heard of that, and I've never seen a listing of a scope for sale that is 'specially made to work on a break barrel. All I know is that when you pull the trigger on this one the gun moves to the rear like all the 'real' guns do. Maybe you should think about it as the mass of the piston causes the lighter action/barrel to move in the opposite direction which in this case is toward the stern m8ty... I guess another way to think about it for every action there's an opposite and equal reaction... As far as the scope I don't think any movement one way or the other is going to effect the internals of a quality made scope....
  11. Hah!! Fooled ya..huh?? Believe it or not that thing is a 177 pellet break barrel. 1400fps,and it takes a 900lb gorilla to cock it. And weighs in at around 9lbs. The barrel comes fluted with the silencer. I picked the thing up in a local auction and when I got it home and opened the box the bi-pod and scope were missing. You know what they say about assume?? :-) Anyway the scope doesn't bother me, I have several Brunton 3-9x40 sitting on the shelf that I stoled off eBay years ago that I'm sure will be much better than the one that came with it. Rings on eBay are 12 bucks shipped from the US. I'll have to contact Winchester to see if they have a set of pods?? And the thing actually has some recoil. More than most 22's I've ever shot over the years. The only reason I bid on it was because of the Ruger Air Rifle I picked up last year, and this one came from a major also.... It's the collector in me....
  12. Now that's slicker than snot on a brass door knob.... Wadda they cost?? That will be the deciding factor on whether I'll be another proud owner... :-)
  13. That shot gun was a Winchester Model 97, and it was probably a riot model, not sawed off. We used to call them knuckle busters, and actually very popular 'cause you could keep a round in the chamber and use the hammer safety. With the hammerless types you had to rack one before firing. I think the 'zapper' was actually called a 'Sap' ? because of the sound it made when making contact, but then again it may be a Zapper.... Hmmmm?? Properly placed behind the ear was when it was most effective... Now they use Tazer's.. Stun by remote control.... :-)
  14. Those were half moon clips that took 3 rounds and linked them for speed loading. Generally the back of the cylinder had to be machined to take them. For really speedy loading full moons strung all six round together and were sorta a snap fit from the outer edge. I have a bunch for my 686-7 plus pro series (7 rounds). They came with the gun when I bought it from a competition shooter...
  15. Well I did finally find the Black Powder Colt stuff.... Way more than i can afford.. I was hoping that they'd also have some Italian copies.. more my price range, but sadly nada.. So as long as we are on gun auctions here's another that's happening right now.. https://auctions.thegunrunner.com/ I've purchased a number of rifles and such from them over the years. Lately I've been chasing black powder and this month's auction has a few. Even newer Colt reproductions... They do this every month and post 50 guns a day starting on the 7th and usually end up with 400-500 for the month. The first 50 are generally the pricey lots. Things get better after a couple of days... :-)
  16. Dang!! That's almost in my back yard... Perused the first couple of pages of listings, and will keep at it until I find the Colt black powder SAA stuff. I'm a sucker for the old late 1800's style sidearms. And....they can be shipped to my door. One of the last few pleasures of living a california and gun collecting.... :-) Thanks Puc...
  17. Good for her... I've been wearing glasses ever since hi school and the last clay I busted was 1973... right after registering 4,999 PITA and ATA targets for the year... That was 46 years ago... GULP!!
  18. :rant:I used to use Ammoseek all the time, but once again the Kalgov has done it to us, and screwed up buying ammo out of state. It can be done legally by anyone having an FFL3/COE, but just about all out of state ammo dealers don't want to mess with the shipping into Kommiefornia for anyone. All ammo purchases need to by registered with a licensed ammo dealer. What I can't figure out is why they just don't ship it and let the receiver worry about it being legal or not??? Since when do kommiefornia laws need to be obeyed by someone that lives in another state?? The law does absolutely nothing to help with illegal gun control, but it sure does harass honest legal gun owners. Any non Kommiefornian consider yourself lucky... Sorry Puc but this whole gun issue get's me a little riled...
  19. Could you be a little more descriptive on which lower cowling???
  20. I like the new way of tipping. One flat fee added to the bill. It used to be that the passengers would be running around tipping the crew as they saw fit with some just stiffing them. It is a major source of income for them and with the new style they all get equal shares. We still left a few extra $20 bills laying around for those that went out of their way for us.... Once you've taken a cruise on NCL you become a Latitude and get some free-bee's when you sail with them again... I get a monthly 'deal' email from them. Some look interesting... :-) BTW.. Loved Alaska, just not the ship.
  21. My wife and the kids went on an Alaskan cruise out of Seattle with Celebrity in mid July'09. (Bro-in-laws recommendation) South east Alaska. Juneau, Skagway, Ketchican. We did several shore excursions and wandered around town shopping and sight seeing. I still use my walking stick from Skagway Hardware... more than ever lately... :-) Don't forget to pick up an Ulu knife.. We've also done the Caribbean aboard NCL, and if I were to do Alaska again that's the line I'd pick. With Celebrity it was boring while underway, and they didn't know that folks like to have their coffee before 7am. There was just nothing to do except sit around. While on NCL 'freestyle' the trip was just as intertaining as the shore leaves. Food was just as diversified and entertaining.... 24/7.... I'm not sure if NCL is still doing freestyle, but if they are I highly recommend them....
