Just called J&M. It pays to go to the source... Their 'Dongle' along with their cable will convert our 2ndGen audio systems into wireless bluetooth. So the possibilities are endless. I'll be seriously looking at one once I know the helmet will fit my fat head.

I found this on another board with references. From what I can gather it ain't easy... CVOHARLEY.com has it all explained. The (2) methods used are a 1.6" core drill bit or cutting the collector in half, removing the CAT and re-welding collector. Cutting the collector seems to be the choice for complete removal of CAT. The 2010's have another issue as the O2 sensors are located right at the collector and with the CAT removed causing issues with cross-talk between sensors. All this info is on the CVOHARLEY.com website. And now that I re-read it, they're refering to collectors.... Don't know if that's 'Harley Talk' for mufflers or not....

Or a Dingle.... I sure the folks here will take 'Dongle' and run with it.... Still would like to know??

I think you may have the cart before the horse on this Ebay thing. Selling things off the bike before it closes probably won't set well with the buyer. Once Ebay closes, and it doesn't sell, is the time to start talking to the members interested in some of the parts. Just be aware that you will end up with a lot of left overs parting it out,,,, Good Luck.... -
SO... I just picked up this Nolan 103 helmet off Ebay, and now I'm looking at possible bluetooth head sets. Nolan makes one, as well as J&M... maybe others??. Both will interface with my GPS or phone. But... I'd like to find an adaptor that would plug into the Audio cord on a 2ndGen, and be able to link to a bluetooth headset eliminating the hardwire. Then I could RX and TX with the CB. Basically that's all I'd use it for as the GPS has an integrated MP3 player. Question... Is a J&M Dongle a bluetooth adapter??

If I remember correctly the later mufflers have a catalytic converter in them. I also think?? the 07 is the year of the bike the muffs came off of. I also think?? I read somewhere?? that the converter can be removed.... Me thinks I think too much....

1991 Mk2 VR front rotor
Condor replied to Mike Mercury's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I just did a search for R1 Rotors and R6 rotors. Several popped up. Here's one set of fronts off a 2001. ROTORS It's the later 2003? and ups that went to the new style calipers, and I'm not sure if the rotors off them would fit??... Squeeze sent me a list of what would work for the calipers, but I ended up just looking at the way they were mounted. I used a set of blue dot R6's on a set of 89 rotors and they worked fine. -

Earlier R1 and R6 calipers will fit the '91 MKII rotors. Any of the R calipers that are attached to the forks with horizontal bolts will work. On later R models the bolts are vertical.. FA 252 HH pads, and you're good to go. Should be a plug and play job. -
Ha!! I didn't own it, but I ran it... My first computor 'experience' was running a Buroughs 220 back in '62-'65 for Allstate Ins Co regional in Pasadena Ca. Everything was on r/w 1" tape drives with punch card input. 10K of memory. It was tubed and it sat in a 20'x30' room with a sub floor that allowed space for the A/C to keep things cool and stable, and I sat in it. Fixed address, bianary. Gawd those were the days....

wifes honda shadow 1100 problem...ideas please
Condor replied to painterman67's topic in General Tech Talk
I had pretty much the same problem with my RSV in Cody this summer. Turned out to be the rectifier. I knew I had problems before I left as I was getting 17vdc when the bike was running. I didn't have time to mess with it before leaving so tossed a new rectifier in the trailer and took off. Apparently I was running on battery power only. 17 volts..no amps. The battery died 80 miles from Cody. I'd run about 1200 miles and 2.5 days on battery power only. The DEKA was dead.. dead..dead... 8.9vdc on the meter. To make a long story short, replaced the rectifier and problem solved... -
Nothin' helps as much as lotsa amps to the starter, and coils...

Yep, I've blown out a few cpu's over the years. Heat will really screw things up. I've been running Trend virus checker and firewall for 15 years. Ever since I final got a virus. They did a free scan and found not one but two of those buggers. Back then they gave me very good directions to manually get rid of them. Saved my A$$, and been with them ever since. Now days they will scan and clean without having to do a thing. I also run Advanced System Care to keep things debugged and tweeked. I was going to bid on an IMac G4 laptop this morning but the bidding got carried away, and I didn't know that much about the G4, so bailed on the bidding. The size would have been great to take on the scoot. I tried to do a little investigating online, but the prices were all over the place, and when I saw the memory at 128 meg and RAM at 128 I thought it probably was an earlier model?? Maybe not but like I said???.....

I have one of those programs already installed... inSSIDer 2.0. The three strongest router channels are 1,6,&11. So that shoot's down a 'good' idea....

OK, I've heard some remarks about VR.Org being an Eating Club with a Riding Disorder. Wondered if anybody has been watching 'Hairy Bikers' on the HISP cable channel. They ain't riding Ventures, but would fit in here really well..... Even the wife get's a kick out of them, and I find myself laughing.... a lot.... My kinda folks...

Depends on the overall condition of the bike. If it's had a lot of love and TLC, go for it. If it has issues, I'd think twice about it.

Yep, ya gotta know the secret word.... That usb stick is a good idea. Thanks. My current CPU/PCI is buried under the desk in my detached office about 30' and 2 walls away from the router. Being able to remote the stick up on the window sill would give a much better line of sight to the router. My only question is will it support dual band, or does it still live in the single band world?? I tried to find some reference to it but couldn't. I did finally end up on the TP-Link website and see they are bringing out a TL-WDN4800 PCI. 450mbps, dual band, and three antenna technology. Price may be a problem, but it's worth looking into..

Hmmm?? OK I play solitare and do crosswords.. Does that count.

Thanks for the suggestions Mike. From the git-go it ran a little faster and then started to bog down again. Finally couldn't get a thing to move so did a restore. Back in business again, but still have the original problems. This Dell is about 5 years old and it might be getting tired. I still think it might be a hardware issue. I'm running a WMP54G PCI with a newer E4200N dual band router. It should be backwards compatable with the G but there might be some issues. Also is seems like I have very little cache. Downloading multiple pics takes a while where it used to be instantaneous no matter how many there were. Just checked the wife's machine and it's running 14mbps down and about 7 up. Same router different PCI. And her computer is not a storng as this one... 2 megs on the board and about 100g HD. So I think I'll go shopping for a 600N PCI and another graphics card. If that doesn't cure the problem there's always target practice....

OK Mike, I went and did the reset. And.... when I did the restart I got a 'Welcome to Windows 8' window, and asking if I wanted to install it?? I didn't, but wonder now if it might be something I should do??? BTW, Things seem 'spunkier' when browsing, but I have tried it with a video site yet...

Thanks Joe. I think that was the first site I used. Ping times ran 11,11, and 10ms for the 3 tests. I'll go give the wifes a shot later on this morning... I haven't had my first cuppa coffee yet... Stay tuned...

I wouldn't know where to begin to find that stuff, but thanks for the reply. Yeah it would be a ways away..... Thanks Monty. I did go to the link and I see where they have a mail in rebate going on that get's the card down to around $20 bucks. That is another option, Thanks... Thanks but I don't play games... Hand eye co-ordination sucks.. I have a fiber optic line from the ISP at 15mbps, so it's pretty fast. I just did a few speed tests on a couple of different websites and the upload ranges from 2mbps to 8.30mbps. The download ranges 6.3mbps to 12.84mbps. San Francisco, Texas, and NY sources. You may be right about the bottleneck being on the ISP's side, but since the times are all over the place I thought the reason might be the card. It's just been within the last month that I've been experiencing the dithering and pauses. I may replace the card just because since we've replaced about everything else in the wifi path. However I will call the ISP in the AM to see what they've got to say. BTW my wife's computor is doing just fine. It's a slightly newer model. You did mention BlueRay needing a bigger faster cache. That may be the reason as I'm now getting some NetFlix in Blue Ray?? Thanks for the insight... I'm at 3megs RAM. I could go to 4, but wonder if that would make a big difference??? Thanks everyone for all the help so far...
