GoPro 1080p HD Helmet Hero on Woot today 12/17/2011
Condor replied to Dave77459's topic in Watering Hole
Usually things that get that kind of response will get posted again in a couple of weeks. I check WOOT every morning, but slept in till after 6 this AM. Already sold out. At first I was a little disappointed... Dang!! But then asked myself when the 'H' am I going to use it, and even at $135 bucks it's too much sitting for more than it should.... (insert sour grapes emocon here) So for those that did pick one up we want to see lots of video's...... -
:clap2:

Theres's a guy from Florida on Ebay that occassionally posts an auction.. more of an ad.. for rebuilding Venture saddles. I just searched and couldn't find anything at the moment. But... I did save his pictures for the RSV and the RSTD. They are attached. It looks like the TD saddle doesn't sit as deep as the RSV. It might be an illusion, but I've studied them closely and I don't think so. I just had Rick mod my pillow top, but haven't had a chance to test it yet. I sorta go into hybernation along with the bike for the winter months. However, if I find I still need help, I just may ask to see if he could do a TD over an RSV pan. Since I only ride solo it's just the saddle that needs to be smoozed. -
The .177 is the same size as a bb. Fairly small and good for target practice. The .22 is larger and better for pest control...... The RSW has a good reputation and $219 seems to be a good price. I'm sure you could find it for less... you always can... but if you need it buy it...

Thanks for posting that. My Grandmother owned a house at 6th and Genessee. I tried to find it on Google, and I don't think 6th exists any longer. It's covered with cement... Born there... and once a Buffalonian, always a Buffalonian, but..... Go Niners!!

Maybe I'm wrong here, but doesn't the rectifier control or limit the stator output?? That was one of the issues addressed when Dano put together that Shindengen Rectifier group buy. The newer rectifier will allow up to twice the needed amps of the OEM rectifier. The OEM limited to aprox. 26amps and the Shingenden allowing up to 50 amps output, and therefore able to handle higher amp demands for cold weahter gear. It's been a while since the discussion so memory may have faded.....

Second gen trailer hitch
Condor replied to BARKEEP1956's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There are a couple of guys on this boards that have made hitch receivers. I picked up an R-Mark for my '99RSV that does a great job. I thought about one of those hidden hitches, but they were more than I could afford. One of the things I did pick up and like a lot is a gimbled hitch ball instead of a rotating coupler. Towed the trailer for the first time to Cody in July... and I'd never towed a trailer before... and it was a piece of cake. No problems what-so-ever..... -
Yeah, non running '83's and '84's are parts bikes and not anywhere near that value.... It's a 'Dirty Harry' bike... "You feelin' lucky today... are ya??"

Wonder what it looks like dried off??

When I had the camera biz I had everything alarmed. Motion detectors in the garage and living room, and all the windows and doors. Around here the majors will install a system for practically nothing if you sign up for the monthly monitoring service which is usually the highest around. It's almost like a cell phone contract. I've seen ATD around but the other you named is not familiar and probably local to your area. I had mine system installed by a private local for a reasonable price, and the monthly was fairly low too. I let the alarm expire after reducing the big camera inventory but still have the big ol' alrarm bell under the eave by the front door and stickers on the windows. At least I think it's a deterant....

Sorry about that... Had second thoughts about what I'd originally posted... All I can remember is baby sitting ni-cads constanly. Between flashes, cameras, and motordrives they were a PITA. And became very expensive to replace over the long run. Lith's lasted much longer. MOF I had a Megellan DX10 marine gps in my ditch bag aboard the boat. It was powered by a 8 AA liths, and after 10 years of just sitting I checked the voltage and they still read 1.5vdc. Surprised the 'H' out of me.

Edited... The biggest PITA about a Ni-Cad is you have to use them constantly or they'll go bad, and they also forget to hold a charge when constantly being topped off. In construction work on a daily basis they'd be great. Kill it and recharge... ditto. Let one sit around for months and it likely will be useless. That's the beauty part of a Lithium. You can top it off daily no matter what the charge condition, and low use will not hurt performance.... To each his own...

That certainly would do it Bob.... You don't see too many full maps... We'll pick a date that won't bump heads with the International, The Kooteneys, The StarBQ in Nevada, or Maintenence Day. Most of these are in June and July. So it'll probably be in the August/Sept time zone, and it'll be a long weekend. Friday, Saturday, and back to the barn on Sunday. So that's not going to leave a lot of room for any long distance travel unless someone was already planing on being in the area on vacation. It's still up in the air as far as anything carved in stone yet. This thread is basically to give us an idea of where to hold it, and that's basically going to be on how much interest we get out of SoCal.

I was getting dizzy occassionally. Went to the Doc and he explained that 'old folks' start getting calicium flakes floating around in the inner ear ,and when one gets dislodged it screws up my balance. Sometimes it would last for a day or more. He told me that when it happened to sit down and tilt my head back and move it from side to side. It works... for me anyway... Now when I hop out of bed in the morning and bounce off a wall, I do the side to side shuffle and within a very short time I'm back on an even keel again. The good thing is it starts when I get out of bed... not while I'm riding down the freeway on two wheels..

We use to Zap ni-cad Camera batteries. Doesn't take much, just a blast of high voltage for an instant. We used 110vac. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, but it was worth a try. Disclaimer... Try at you own risk.. !! I think that the Ebay item is doing that with a pulse generator..?? Thank God for lithiums.....

Maybe a new set of pads too....

I hear ya Owl... But those guys on the east coast need to find out what real chilli is all about....
-
Ya know youse guys would be more than welcome, but it would be a heck of a ride from SLC for just a 2 nighter....

This is just a feeler to see how many VR members from the west coast.... Vancouver, Washington, Oregon, NorCal, SoCal, Nev, Arizona would be interested in doing a 'weekend' Venture West V in 2012. No specific place or dates, just would like to know of any interest at this time. I'll try to do a poll... did one a long time ago but can't remember exactely how I did it.... Meanwhile your post will work.
-
Count me in. If we hold it in Visalia the SoCal group would be close enough for a weekend overnighter. But.... Susanville would be great too. I'd say if SoCalVR's don't chime in let's do Susanville. The Black Bear Resturant puts out a great cherry cobler...

has anyone tried this air filter set-up?
Condor replied to reddevilmedic's topic in General Tech Talk
Your right, but since I'm talking about venturi vacuum and airflow what happens when throttle's open? Venturi flow increases. If there's a restriction in the air flow supply a vacuum is created. Or maybe you have a better explaination of why these bikes run like cr@p with the air box lid off.... Doesn't take a rocket scientist... just a little common sense. -

Good info Earl. Rejetting the carbs would be the only way to keep the fuel amount adiquate for highend performance with a limited travel slide, and would give the results you discribed. I wonder how the ebay seller can claim 4mpg increase, and still maintain highend performance?? Unless like you discribed the highend permormance is sacrificed unless rejetted. I'm getting a headache....
