  1. Need some help guys. I've been looking for a small welder to do some light welding and picked up one at an auction this past weekend. It's a small Home-n-Shop Craftsman stick welder that has the goofyest lead set up I've ever seen. Wondering if any of our resident welders might have a clue on what it is and how they're used.... Pics attached.
  2. Heck no... Go for the juggler. Tell him the tranny is toast, and the engine will have to be R&R'd to do the repair..... Now that's a bargaining chip....
  3. 4th and 5th pins behind the clutch basket have probably fallen out. Not a difficult repair. Here's a link to the problem. The tech write up is for a 1stGen but should apply to your RSTD as well. Also I believe that a 'new improved' segment off a RSV will be an upgrade... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=40713
  4. Classic example of high siding. Gotta love dem delinked brakes... They were both in the wrong passing on a double yellow. The car had already been passed by the first two bikes and they were also double yellow illegal. That's what happens when these guys think they're on super bikes and a closed track. Testosterone time looking for an accident to happen. My opinion... rider was at fault for exceeding his ability and passing illegally, and the car should have beeen cited for an illigal pass.... if they ever found him or her?? IMVHO
  5. I have an EBC rotor on the back of the '91. Rusts up like an SOB if not used regularly..... If I ever need to replace it I'll go stainless....
  6. All good suggestions, and should eventually be done, but I'd start with the battery if it's fairly old. I had the same thing happen on my '83. Swapped out the rectifier, soldered the whites, and a new AGM battery. Problem solved.
  7. Dang I laughed so hard I almost wrecked 'm..... http://www.cast-aways.com/CONDORPICS/santacheeks.gif
  8. Now I'm wondering if you don't have a bad spot on the starter armature or a direct to ground short?? I don't know what amps the starter solenoid is rated for but I imagine it'd take a bunch to burn one out.... Might be time to pull the starter, rebrush and clean, and check the cables??
  9. Did you have it in neutral?? Sometimes after sitting in gear a long time the clutch plates will stick together and even tho the lever pulled they don't disengage. When you rocked the bike they may have broken loose??? This is just a wild a$$ guess???
  10. Found this one on their website for $6 bucks. SHEATH
  11. All that stuff is cool, but..... as fast as these things fire they only deliver 180 rounds due to barrel length, and reloading's a b1tch. I think that's why we don't see them on the battle field. Long range accuracy would also be a question due to the short travel of the bullet over the lans and grooves. In essence the usuable portion of the barrel is only 3-4 inches. Close range they would be deadly. Plus do they take AA or AAA's Actually Daisy made a caseless 22cal rifle, where the propellant was ignited by high pressure air, and they did work. I wholesaled a few them back in the late 60's. It was an interesting gun but I haven't seen or heard about them since.
  12. I hear ya... My 375H&H gets your attention. Don't wanna shoot anything bigger..
  13. This is great news. Many thanks for the update.....
  14. That's about as close to an after death experience you can have without the white light....

  16. Impressive results. Almost the same size as a 12ga shotgun bore...
  17. Usually things that get that kind of response will get posted again in a couple of weeks. I check WOOT every morning, but slept in till after 6 this AM. Already sold out. At first I was a little disappointed... Dang!! But then asked myself when the 'H' am I going to use it, and even at $135 bucks it's too much sitting for more than it should.... (insert sour grapes emocon here) So for those that did pick one up we want to see lots of video's......
  18. :clap2:
  19. $5.12 a can locally. OK my daughter works for ACE Hardware and get's them at cost....
  20. Theres's a guy from Florida on Ebay that occassionally posts an auction.. more of an ad.. for rebuilding Venture saddles. I just searched and couldn't find anything at the moment. But... I did save his pictures for the RSV and the RSTD. They are attached. It looks like the TD saddle doesn't sit as deep as the RSV. It might be an illusion, but I've studied them closely and I don't think so. I just had Rick mod my pillow top, but haven't had a chance to test it yet. I sorta go into hybernation along with the bike for the winter months. However, if I find I still need help, I just may ask to see if he could do a TD over an RSV pan. Since I only ride solo it's just the saddle that needs to be smoozed.

The .177 is the same size as a bb. Fairly small and good for target practice. The .22 is larger and better for pest control...... The RSW has a good reputation and $219 seems to be a good price. I'm sure you could find it for less... you always can... but if you need it buy it...
  22. Thanks for posting that. My Grandmother owned a house at 6th and Genessee. I tried to find it on Google, and I don't think 6th exists any longer. It's covered with cement... Born there... and once a Buffalonian, always a Buffalonian, but..... Go Niners!!
  23. Maybe I'm wrong here, but doesn't the rectifier control or limit the stator output?? That was one of the issues addressed when Dano put together that Shindengen Rectifier group buy. The newer rectifier will allow up to twice the needed amps of the OEM rectifier. The OEM limited to aprox. 26amps and the Shingenden allowing up to 50 amps output, and therefore able to handle higher amp demands for cold weahter gear. It's been a while since the discussion so memory may have faded.....
  24. There are a couple of guys on this boards that have made hitch receivers. I picked up an R-Mark for my '99RSV that does a great job. I thought about one of those hidden hitches, but they were more than I could afford. One of the things I did pick up and like a lot is a gimbled hitch ball instead of a rotating coupler. Towed the trailer for the first time to Cody in July... and I'd never towed a trailer before... and it was a piece of cake. No problems what-so-ever.....
  25. Yeah, non running '83's and '84's are parts bikes and not anywhere near that value.... It's a 'Dirty Harry' bike... "You feelin' lucky today... are ya??"
