  1. As long as you didn't bleed the clutch and just messed with the basket there shouldn't be a problem with the clutch disengaging... Valvoline makes a wet clutch oil in 10-30 and 20-50. I ran 10-30 in the winter and 20-50 in the summer in my '83VR without a problem. On occasion I might have used Castrol 20-50 which is my oil of choice for all my rolling stock. When you mentioned that everything was OK when you tucked her in for the night and in the morning the clutch wouldn't work makes me think that any air in the lines worked it's way back up to the master and the hydralics when fubar....??
  2. #1 A roll of toilet paper for emergencies, and hope you never have to use it
  3. Well flying fool is gonna get some help.. From the looks of it that same front is headed your direction ... So brace yourselves.. this time the white stuff is coming from California... And yeah those river city' tenters are probably in the market for new tents... Around this time of the year they start opening up shelters sometimes CalExpo...
  4. Two days ago we had a forcast of being windy for the next couple of days... Ha!! After the two days of almost hurricane winds and horizontal rain, and my back yard looks like a war zone. The big tent lost it's cover and it blew the covers off my 3 RSV's that were inside. My patio umbrella ended up on the other side of the yard against the fence and had to have leaped over the power lines and a tree to get there. The pole was still laying there, but my 50# umbrella base is missing in action?? Shingles off the roof.. tarps somewhere in the Sierras.. Today light winds and rain. The RSV's are getting soaked. And this is California folks... ๐Ÿ™‚
  5. I guess things are a lot cheaper in Florida.. The last time I picked some up here in California it was $7 bucks a box of 20 Federals. On sale at $6 once in a while.. At $.20/rd...$4/box.. you should have bought a ton...

  7. Yeah, George and I shared one of the wildest rides I ever had on my old '83VR coming back from Ft Collins in Colorado. We split off from the rest of group at Rock Springs WY and headed north. Me to visit the kids in Shoshone ID, and George going back home to Seattle. On they way we got hit with black storm clouds with 65mph winds out of the west. The road was two lane with semi's headed south. They'd pass us and we'd end up on their side of the highway when they'd block the wind, and then get blown back after they past. I think the big advantage was the frame mounted fairing of the 1stGen. A lot easier keeping control of the scoot. We stopped in Karrammer WY for fuel and George's eyes were as big as saucers. His remark... That had to be the worst conditions I've ever rode in!! I think I had an advantage due to being a lot heavier and harder to shove around... George being pn the lighter side..not so much...It's one ride I'll never forget... ๐Ÿ™‚
  8. One of our older members @GeorgeS from Seattle was into HAM and had it mounted on his '93VR. I don't know if he's still around but you might check?? I do remember he had a couple of batteries mount in the saddles for power... If no longer active you might try the HAM listings for Seattle...
  9. Thanks for that video Scott. Makes my heart go pitter pat... Especially while listening to the Beach Boys in the back ground... :-) I think the big problem is folks looking for something special... Maybe it's time they all went back to 22LR, '06, 308, and 270win.. Guess I'm as guilty as the rest when looking for 45-70gov, 44-40, 38-40, 32-20, etc...
  10. Ask the seller if he has any problems with the tranny popping out of 2nd gear....
  11. I remember that bee hive that's 90 miles from Cuba... ๐Ÿ™‚ Ironically we were also 90 miles from Cuba when we vacationed in Cancun MX. Funny fishing story. While at a yearly biz meeting held in Naples I tried to fish for Snook from the banks behind the hotel. There was a drop off from the lawn down to the a sandy area where I stood. While plugging away and bringing the lure back an alligator followed the lure right to the rod tip and came up about 4 feet from my tootsies. I ended up back on the lawn and to this day can't tell how I got there... Packed up the rod and went back to the bar to settle my nerves....
  12. I see ammo up for auction at the Gunrunner.com auction. Lately there has been a shortage of firearms to fill their monthly 500 lot auction so they've been listing more and more ammo. I don't need anything right now but also check https://ammoseek.com/ when searching or pricing... https://www.gunrunnerauctions.com/
  13. Good idea.. The only thing that might mess things up is it's a '98 and most of these places deal with current models...
  14. Well got'r home this morning... I didn't drive it, but a buddy did. We stopped for lunch and he was impressed. He stated it rode great and didn't feel like a 1-ton...and no issues. Once home I did run into a couple, but nothing earth shaking.. Mostly light bulbs, and a drivers inside door panel. That may be a problem. I called 4-5 local wrecking yards and got a big Nada... Looks like the hunt begins... Pulling big stuff was my intention With a couple of big boats, and some heavy trailers... And I'm thinking of doing a ride-about next summer. It will probably be the last time I'll have a chance to do something like this due to getting old and crotchety... My wife and I circumnavigated (whew!! big word..) the US back around '95.. Looking to maybe doing it solo again.. Taking a couple months and visiting family and friends... Rigging the van as an RV sleeper with porta potty, and airbed etc should work?? The back end of this thing is huge!! Anyway it's a bucket list plan...
  15. Praying for a quick and complete recovery...
  16. Thanks Dave..Hope I will. Can't pick it up until next Wed 'cause of all this Covid BS. Calling in the AM to make an appoint.. It's down in Stockton and a buddy is driving me there, and hopefully we can find a place to grab lunch. Gov Neusance has just placed a 3 week lock down on some of the surrounding counties,,, Grrr!!
  17. In 2013 I picked up my Titan in an auction. I love that truck... however one thing I've had a problem with is the 5'6" bed. Put a sack of groceries in it and there ain't much room left.. This morning I cured the problem. I now have room to spare. A Chevy 1 ton Extended Van.. Bought it off a retiring electrical contractor. It's a '98 with 150K on the ODO. Runs great, and doesn't look like a '98. The guy was a fanatic when it came to his vehicles. I used to have a '98 Suburban and it served me well. Gave it to one of my grandsons... Hope this one serves me just as well.... https://d278yjzsv5tla9.cloudfront.net/user_images2/346688_1621431.jpg
  18. OK So I thought I'd register to bid on the Mecum sitr. The first part was OK, but then they wanted to know what kind of tooth brush I used I said screw it and went else where... Thought I'd get OK'd for the Las Vegas auction, but now I'm gonna keep my millions...
  19. I might also add Mecum had a 2020 Vette in white that acted the same way... I wonder???
  20. My first car was a '53 Ford 2-door. Kinda in that mint green color. Hated it. After doing some leading and Bondo work I took it down to a local body shop to be painted metallic white. Fords white was a off brown white unlike Chevy's blue white. The painter couldn't find a metallic so he said he had a can of black metallic that he could add to the base. I agreed. What I ended up with was an off white grey in the shade and it would blow your eye-balls out in the sun... I loved it. Always wanted to do another but never had the occasion.. I also did a frame off restoration of a '69 Honda CB 750 sand cast. Did that one myself in white lacquer. You do not want fuel to drip on that stuff... Don't ask me how I know that... ๐Ÿ™‚
  21. Nice job, but... patina means a lot on something historical. Rather than restore it to working condition and making it look like a bunch of other reproductions I'd let it sit in a mixture of 1:1 white vinegar and water to clean off the corrosion and leave it alone rather than torching it and sand blasting,,, My 2 cents...
  22. Here's your excuse to come out west Scott. Up for bid tomorrow.. Friday the 13th.. Ooooo! This one looks an awful lot like the Vette you're eyeballing. Maybe the same one if it didn't meet the reserve at indy..?? I don't know a lot about all the little details of the Corvette history, models, etc, but I like to go fast.... And Butter Pecan.. ๐Ÿ™‚ https://www.mecum.com/lots/LN1120-422412/1968-chevrolet-corvette-convertible/
  23. I donno Puc. I had an '89 Firebird TPI that I could slip into, and was comfortably tight and a blast to drive.. Always wondered if one of the Vette's of that era would let me in the door... Only thing I wasn't ready to give up the 'Butter Pecan'.... Speaking of bucket lists...here's one itch I might be able to scratch... It's coming up for auction in a couple of weeks... :-) https://d278yjzsv5tla9.cloudfront.net/user_images2/345402_9364607.jpg
