  1. Getting a leak could become pricey... Actually the '83 runing at high temps on 100+ days never boiled over.... Just used Prestone.
  2. Dang! That's some nice work...
  3. Not neccessarly. You could install a factory CB that became available later on. And I beg to differ with Rocket below. The amp on my early '83 did not have a mic plug. Quite possibily Yamaha started adding that feature late in '83, prior to the '84 release, as a lot of things were tweeked during that first year. I like to call the '83 a 'Beta' Model....
  4. Here ya go Russ....
  5. Since the clutch doesn't have a resistence point like a brake, and can be compressed all the way to the grip without increasing line pressure, there's no way the clutch will produce more hydralic line pressure than a brake. I stand by my first post....
  6. I just check the site every morning when I boot up. I don't need any emails... I buy enough of this stuff anyway...don't need no mo.
  7. I am a member.... I guess I'm not set up to receive the daily special email. If you're refering to the speed bit changer from a couple of days ago, I picked up 3, and the steam mop yesterday for our hardwood floors. I probably average 1 WOOT a month. That Flashcam is kinda cool, but I didn't see it listed.
  8. Well guess what?? I just posted a reply to a thread and it happened to me. Background disappeared. I refreshed the page and it returned. Never...ever had this happen before.
  9. I usually get about 7 miles after the fuel light comes on and I have to switch to reserve.
  10. :confused07::confused07: Don't see anything selling for $99.95 on WOOT today, or yesterday???? NMI
  11. Holy Rat Feathers... Did I say something wrong...
  12. I don't think changing the clutch line to stainless will have any benifit since the pressures in the lines are not like those we develope in the braking system. It takes a lot of pressure to get the line swell... IMHO
  13. I may be that your vertual memory size is limited, and your internet conection is slow, so you're downloading a new page everytime you visit?? JAWAG....
  14. Not sure how the aftermarket CB mic hooks up as I've never had one. On my '83 sans CB I actually cut the mic off a J&M headset and just listened.
  15. The problem with the slave removal is the tab for the lower hex screw sits on the back side of the shift arm and does not let the slave come straight out. A lot of members get it to come out by playing around with it and when it finally falls out haven't got a clue as to how they did it... Here's the 'trick'. Once the slave is loose drop the bleeder arm down and rotate the slave while moving it out. This allows the top tab to rotate over the shift arm. When installing it, put it in upside down and rotate the other direction. This will get the bottom tab over the shift arm. I hope this makes sense to folks??
  16. My oldest owns one. 2008 I think?? She likes it a lot, and gets good gas mileage... I drove it once for about 40 miles. Couldn't move, but was able to step on the gas pedal...
  17. Yep.... 'Specially the '83 Beta Model....
  18. I agree with the term 'pricey'. If it wasn't for picking up this helmet.. w/bluetooth... off Ebay for a pittance, I probably wouldn't be posting. No way I could have afforded one... As far as Bike to Bike... that's the reason for trying to find something that will allow bluetooth to the RSV audio system. Then I'll be able to use the CB. J&M does state that theirs has the mike feature, but maybe only with their headsets?? Don's link looked interesting, but I didn't really see anything relating to a mic. I'll give them a call if J&M doesn't pan out.
  19. I LIKE IT!!!!
  20. You might also think about going to Dunlop E3's. I'm running them on the '99 and like them. I've only put about 4,000mls on them, but they don't show any sugnificant wear. Bought them from Jake Wilson for around $225, and the local Y dealer installed them for $90.. ON THE BIKE!! So $315 total is a heck of a lot better then the $600 for the 404's
  21. They didn't make an OEM CB in '83. Therefore they didn't have the PPT feature on the lefthand controls. There is an interface cable that comes off the AMP for connecting to the helmet, but it doesn't include mic feature. They did make an aftermarket CB for a while. Qual Comm... or something like that. They show up on Ebay every once in a while.
  22. Yep I think you're right Dan....
  23. Yep this link takes me to the Bluetooth page. The other one took me to some sort of page that seemed to be dealing with wired only, and I really didn't see any home link off of it.... Gonna have to study a little further.....
  24. If I remember correctly one of our members used a couple of washers betweeen the head of the bolt and the cover to seal the old gaskets successfully.... however I agree... replace 'm with 2ndGens.
