  1. Amazing stuff. Probably Speed Graphics. A lot of them were set up by a few folks that really knew what they were doing....
  2. Looks like the storm door is finally open in the Pacific. We Westcoasters get hit first, and then it heads north into the midwest. The one you're getting hit with went thru here yesterday. Brace yourself, the one due in here later this afternoon is going to be even stronger....
  3. And you're runing in fifth gear to get better millage... Right??. Kick it down into 4th and see what happens. It's a weird phenomena with these motors, they get better MPG with higher RPM's.... Ya can't lug them and expect 40mpg....
  4. No frogs around here. Ma nature turned the A/C on, and we're finally getting a little winter. Snow in the Sierras yesterday and a strong cold system headed our direction for the next 2-3 days. I may be able to water the lawn this summer afterall.....
  5. In today’s world of digital photography, I miss the art of taking a good photograph. I miss the expectant wait for the developing process to see if what I think I saw is what I recorded on the film. I miss the rules that have been generated over years of trial and error that hold true today as well as they did 100 years ago, and don’t mean a thing in the electronic world... I guess I just miss the romance of shooting silver film. So I drag out the old Nikon F2, and fire the shutter a half dozen times, get my fix, put it back into it's camera bag, and slip my digital in my shirt pocket…
  6. I bet you'd get a more diverse response by posting this question on a GW site...
  7. Try disconecting the Deka and see if it will still hold a charge for a month. If it goes down any at all, it's the battery. I know it's a long time, but that's the only way to check static discharge. Case in point. I murdererd my Deka in the '99 by running it on battery only to Cody.. the story's been posted on the board a couple of times.... I took it down to 8.9vdc on the multimeter. It did recharge in the motel room over night, and I did run it back to Sacramento, but I can't leave it sit for more than a month without it going dead. It used to be good after sitting for 3-4 months. I think it's screwed up, and I'll probably replace it come summer. BTW I do have an aftermarket rectifyer installed. It was the reason it died on the way to Cody.
  8. There's a ton of them on Ebay for around $20 bucks. Do a google search for
  9. I don't think it's the mechanics problem. That's the way the '83 brakes DON'T work normally. Delinking the brakes will help a little on the front, adding HH pads will also help, but the only way to get a big improvement is convert to R1 or R6 brake calipers. The only problem is it's not cheap. I'd delink, and then shop Ebay for the things you'll need at your leasure....
  10. I'd been up in the triples a couple of times with the '83, but I don't care what bike I'm riding the thought of a tire blowing out at that speed always brings me back to sane MPH's pretty damn quick.......

    SCAM??

The scammer is posting all over the US on Craigslist. I notified CL and they haven't done a damn thing about it. I even tried flagging because the ads are all posted in the wrong area, and they just keep coming daily.
  13. Since you're trying to save a few bucks, replacing might be the cheapest way to go.... unless you want to try Gleam Toothpaste. Those polishing kits are gonna cost you with no guarantee...
  14. I knew that.... But there's still no help for those under 25 as they are already brain dead.... and it has the reverse effect....
  15. I wonder if that stuff is part of the Catalytic Converter??? Otherwise that's a weird way to get rid of your ex-wife....
  16. You didn't mention how old, and what type battery you have?? An old battery can be charged to full, but can loose a charge very quickly just sitting. Best way to to check is take it to you local auto parts store and have them put a load test on it. I had a battery in my Suburban that checked out fine using the multimeter and would take a full charge, but it wouldn't hold a charge sitting overnight. Took it to my battery dealer and he got the same results.... until he put a load on it. It croaked. It had an internal short. Also what is the charge rate when it's in the bike?? Anything in the mid 13's or over 14.6, and you could have a funky rectifyer...
  17. 110ma battery drain isn't enough to discharge a 250-300cca battery over 3 months. Reducing it to a 70ma draw won't make that much of a difference. Me thinks you still have a basttery/charger/rectifyer problem...??
  18. Check to see if the ignitiion switch hasn't been by-passed...
  19. Google: yamaha venture "royal star venture" -chevy -chevrolet -ski -snow -rs -snowmobile site:craigslist.org
  20. You might toss another set of pads on....and check to see if the surface of the rotors haven't got some junk on them...

  22. Don't think it's going to be long before this one goes viral.....
  23. Dang, the time of the year is right, and there's enough time to do some 'think' planning.... Might be a real good reason to hold a Cody Reunion...

  25. I'm not sure, but how about copying the shortcut link and posting it in the sig file instead of the actual pic??
