To BUB or not to BUB

Mine pop on deceleration too. I haven't sync'd them yet, but when I do and it doesn't help the smog is going to be plugged or taken out completely. There's a nice write up in the tech section on how to do it.... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=485 -
Shindengen voltage regulator
Condor replied to frankd's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Here's the Shindengen web listing for what looks like their rectifier.... Maybe someone can do a little more research about them. http://www.shindengen.co.jp/product_e/electro/reg.html -

Not really talking about leaving the bike because help was needed to get it back on it's feet, but having it go down when off center at a lesser angle than a bike without a single wheel trailer. Mention was made about the center of gravity being higher somewhere in a previous post?? While pulling my two wheel I can't feel any difference in handling at parking lot speeds or at 70 plus. I forget it's there. I did gently drop my 2ndGen in a gas station with the trailer loaded to max, and it didn't effect the 'stand it back up' proccess one bit. So from what I can gather, A single wheel trailer is different and does look very cool , and you can get it into a motel room at night , but when full effects low speed manuverability, and may make getting it back up a little more difficult unless unhitching the trailer ..... IMVHO....

1984 venture linked brake system
Condor replied to Jay A's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
In Bobs last post he doesn't get close to saying anything like you discribed.... Unless it's from an even earlier post. In that case you might want to use the 'quote' feature to avoid any confusion..... -
1984 venture linked brake system
Condor replied to Jay A's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'm with you Bob. Linked 2Gens brakes might have solved the rear brake lock up. But... I ride both style braking systems, and really can't complain, or get too cerebral about why one is better than the other. They both stop their bikes very well. I did take care of the inheirant weak front brakes on the '83 but never delinked. Never felt it was needed. I also don't feel it's neccesary to have brakes that will stop a run-away locomotive. Brakes can be over-kill... My -
I think the big problem will be the range of any trail camera. They're usually set to work within 20 feet or so, and I doubt the perp is going to be that close?? I'd go with a survelance multi camera type and recorder. I recently saw a 3 camera for sale on WOOT for $199 bucks. I don't know what trail cameras go for but that's about half of the systems I've seen at SAM's Club.

I have a 'devils advocate' question.... Everyone seems to be concerned about the hitch weight, and it is a valid question, but what about added off center weight?? When leaning the bike...and trailer since it is a one wheel.... does it significantly increase the effort needed to take the bike and trailer off a side stand when fully loaded, or when in a 'oh krap' mode when accidentally getting way off center when stopped just before gently laying it down horizontally.... I think we've all been there at least once.... Also what type of effort would it take to pick the bike and trailer back up on their feet?? Has anyone ever had this happen???

I think the ticket hear is the man what's LOUD. RK's don't meet this requirement. I'd suggest a set of Nasty Boys, or Sampson's.... Now that's loud.... Actually an older set of Bubbs with the battening blown out aren't too shabby either....

Rick, What's your battery showing for charge volts. If your stator isn't putting out enough to charge the battery, or the rectifyer is fubar.... and the battery's CC's are low it will cause the motor to die when the RPMs drop. Longer start times will also be becasue of this. Even a weak battery will will cause problems. I'm in the electrical camp....

On my '89 TransAM 5.7TPI it turned out to be the fuel pump. It acted just like a clogged fuel filter. It was a PITA getting to it as the tank had to be dropped. Mine died about 40 miles outside of Las Vegas in the middle of no-where. Believe me you don't want that to happen.

From Twin Falls to Wells Nevada it's about 130 miles and there's one station at Jack Pot. From Wells to Ely is about 140 miles. Not much in fuel between these towns. It's been 40 years since I made the run from Ely to LV, and there was only one station in Pioche at 110 miles south of Ely. There may be others by now, but it's still pretty vacant on the west side of Nevada. From Pioche to Vegas it's 180 miles, but you'll start running into stations at 160 miles north. If you plan on riding the bike take extra fuel just to be on the safe side. The scenery is great and it should be on everyone's bucket list...

To BUB or not to BUB
Condor replied to Mr.G's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Slip yours off and take them in. It's not a big deal to remove them. 1 hanger bolt and one clamp bolt on each side. The Bubbs will slip right on with out a gasket..... Just make sure the dealer includes the OEM (Bubb) clamps.... -
To BUB or not to BUB
Condor replied to Mr.G's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Back when I was going to college we lived in an apartment house complex and I rode a fairly loud Aerial Square Four. In the morning out of courtesy I just pushed the bike out into the street before firing her up.... -
To BUB or not to BUB
Condor replied to Mr.G's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I'm so glad you asked... It means they can be taken apart and repacked. Packing will deteriorate and disappear over time, and the sound will get louder. Some like the result and leave them that way. If you don't, the Bubbs are "repack-able".......
