  1. I think there's an adjustable hex plug at the base of the upright. You'll need to take the seat off to get to it.... Or not... but at least you get to see the base of the backrest and figure it out.
  2. Remove it and cap off the bibs. It's the YICS added to California models in the early years to satisfy C.A.R.B. smog rules which were more stringent than the rest of the US. After 30 years the thing is leaking everywhere. Make sure you toss a carb sync at it afterwards... Your bike is probably a TDKC. BTW you might want to replace the vacume advance hose between #2 and the boost sensor. By now it's probably leaking too...
  3. Just day dreaming here, but I wonder if... when inflating the tire..... the air is run through a dryer on the compressor. Like if it was used for spray painting. And the air should have some moisture in it??? Does that make sense??? :confused07:
  4. These engines love high RPM's. First and second gens alike. Lug them down and they'll suck gas like a horse eating oats.... Probably the best fuel economy you'll get is riding in the mountain twisties and using 2-3-4th, and very little 4th. You'll get +10 mpg. Seems weird but it happens....
  5. Drive a power spoon to stir my coffee in the morning....
  6. Here's everything you wanted to know.... and maybe a little you didn't... http://www.venturerider.org/modules/history/index.php
  7. I want to apologize to everyone for my sarcastic remark. I have a tendency to fall off the wagon every once in a while..... I'm going to my room now....
  8. Looks like the prop biz is booming.....
  9. Now that was real original... Stutter often???
  10. You're trying to compare apples to oranges. The Venture engine runs better and get's better fuel milage staying in a lower gear and turning higher RPM's. The only thing 5th will do for you is get you there quicker over the long haul on the slab at 80+mph, but it sucks gas doing it....
  11. They actually came with a spring indent when new, however I haven't seen to many still attached. Haven't got a clue as to what causes them to disappear.
  12. I've found that just leaving the audio on overnight will put a load on the battery . Doesn't kill it, but it does slow things down in the AM start. Turn it off and things are much better...
  13. Judge Joe Brown.... Who the 'H' is that???
  14. Lynn. What's the difference between 5/8" and 14mm masters. Is smaller better??
  15. I just had a friend upgrade his front brakes to R1 calipers on his '99RSV, and he couldn't stop raving about the difference. He said it was an OMG moment. I'll be doing the same thing to mine later this spring. It's a plug and play job. Pick up a clean set of R1 or R6 calipers off Ebay for $60 bucks with shipping, and that's all it's gonna cost.... The best bang for the buck mod you can do on an RSV.
  16. Whats the E3 look like? With 5000 miles on it I'd think it would last the summer. I had an E2 on the back of the '83 and thought about replacing it before taking off to Ft Collins on '07 just to be on the safe side. Posted a pic of the tread here on the board and the consensus was to don't worry about it and ride. I did. It finally wore to where it had to replaced in '09 before the Round-Up in Cody..... BTW that's just about it when it comes to tire size....
  17. OK I'll bite. What are the other 19?? Enlighten us.....
  18. Back in '89 my wife and I walked the wall.... one way... I couldn't turn around and go back the way we came. Emotions took over and I cried like a baby.... Still effects me to this day... had to grab a Kleanex...
  19. Almost looked like there was a spacer missing. Attached are a couple I just shot of my 99RSV.
  20. HUH??????????????????????????????
  21. Since the part is chromed plastic I'd go ahead and pop them and hit the whole part with a clear.
  22. Get a set of polorized sun glasses....
  23. It's something that a Condor uses on occassion.....
