  1. In those outlying towns they kinda gotcha. Who's gonna drive 20 miles to save a dime... It was like that even in Visalia when we lived there... although not quite as bad.
  2. You might want to make sure that's not what he already has Joe.
  3. #1 the CB is located under the trunk. #2 Depends on what has been rigged by the PO. OEM is a plug in and permanently attached to the base. #3 As long as you have the aftermarkets, keep them. #4 ???
  4. Can't remember. Blue Chips and the stamp wars wouldn't happen until the late '60's. Remember 20X blue chips? I was driving a company car, and would have to fill up daily. I'd come home at the end of the week with the glove box full of stamps.....
  5. Who'da thunk we'd be getting excited about $3.50/gal.... 3 years ago...... When I filled up my '53 Ford for the road trip to school in Denver back in '60 it cost me 19.9/gal with my penny off coupons. I couldn't believe it when I heard that the going price was .36/gal in Colorado...
  6. They've been discontinued and are harder to find than chicken lips..... I searched a long time and finally found one on eBay.....
  7. And so they understand it in Austrailia it's sndǝɹɥʎdɐʇnqɐuɐʇoɹ
  8. The problem with USPS is the size of the box, which I put in my first post. Just for the heck of it I ran the numbers for USPS and shipping was close to $200 bucks. FedX ran about $130, and UPS came in at $91. They were all insured for $900 bucks. In the past I shipped quite a few MAC Mufflers, and a bunch of Fork Braces using small flat rate boxes, to Canada without any problem, but this one is the exception. I was just trying to save the customer a few bucks, but this time I guess it ain't in the cards....
  9. 2 gens have 'm too, and they're safer because they're chromed....
  10. This is a business customer. I did ask him if he had anyone in the US, but he said he didn't. I just looked up the shipping cost for all 3 options and UPS came out the least... go figure.. Generally they are the highest. I know it's picked up on that end, i was just trying to save the guy a few bucks. The value of the item is $900US.
  11. Thanks, I may reduce the invoice amount down to a couple of hundred bucks, but then I'd be out on a limb for the insurance amount. I was hoping that FedX might be better?? I'm going to double check USPS International Priority for max dimentions. Maybe???
  12. Heads up Toronto. I have a package that I need to ship to a customer up your way. It's about 25# and 18x18x24 in size so this time around USPS is not possible. What's the better choice between UPS and FedX?? I understand UPS can get you on agent fees. Is FedX the same?? Thanks for any advice.
  13. Yerp.... That's what they are....
  14. Absolutely.... Max sidewall psi on Avons only....
  15. and the next time don't torque the cap screw down to 50ftlbs. 10ftlbs or snug will be adiquate.....
  16. I think it's what ever you're going to be able to afford.....
  17. If anyone's interested in what some of the stuff went for, check this page. Wish I had some spare change... one of those Model A's would have been mine. Mom, Dad, and my brother and I rode across the US from N.Y. to California twice in our '29A back in the mid '40's. AUCTION RESULTS
  18. Here's something I've run into a couple of times and found the cure by accident. I'm not saying this is the case here, but when I've stolen another bike because it doesn't run, a couple of times I've found the sync screws on #4 or #3 carb screwed in to far. The end result is when doing a sync ,and with the idle at 1000 using the knurled knob on the left side, after the sync is done the thing won't return to idle right away. Sometimes it will take as long as 30 seconds. What's happened is the previous owner... not knowing what he was doing... tried to adjust the idle by using the sync screws to do it, and it will work..sorta. This over rides the #2 carb, and either #3 or #4 is actually controlling the idle. When the long return to idle happens I will back off all the sync screws on the right side of the carbs a couple of turns, set the idle to 1000 using the proper way, and start the sync over. It's actually a little more than that and I do have a write up I can send anyone interested. When it's done the motor will snap back to idle without any hesitation.
  19. Found this link on another board and thought a few members here would enjoy it as much as I did. If you like old motorcycle barn finds you're gonna love this. It's quite long, so go grab a bag of popcorn and something to drink. There's 8 segments that play automatically, so sit back and be amazed.... http://www.coolestone.com/media/3728/America039;s-Ultimate-Barn-Find/
  20. Besides all the above you might get a can of Deep Creep and after cleaning all the linkage with a carb cleaner, spray it down with the Creep. Even the choke pistons... It will allow the linkage to act faster. The exterior of these carbs can get pretty groady.....
  21. It's my understanding that a 2ndGen part will fit in there and it one piece. Pins will not fall out ever again. Not sure what the part number is, but I'm sure someone will chime in here with it....
  22. Yeehaw nice bike Dano
  23. I would think it would be nothing more the beefing up the frame support, cutting the body to your liking...smallest kerf possible..., and laying in a couple of more fiberglass layers in the flip 'hood' for support and stiffness. Hinges and latches and your good to go. Easy.... Glad I don't have to do it.... Good luck....
  24. Don't even notice any noise.... Bubbs... Actually I didn't notice any noise with the OEM exhaust.... HUH???
  25. I wish they had better pics on their website of how it looks flipped and closed. I bet if you called Mary at Motorvation and told them what you plan on doing they might help with some engineering plans... http://www.motorvation.com/newIndexPix/100_2126.jpg http://www.motorvation.com/f2kids1.jpg
