    need help

Sounds to me like you have a couple of dirty plugs. Toss in another set and then tell us how it's running. Sea Foam will foul spark plugs....
  3. Yep the link above covers most everything. I leave the cap off and the drain open and stuff a garden hose in the fill that is adjusted to about the same flow as the drain, and then let the motor idle for 10 minutes or so to flush out all the old coolant. Satisfies my paranoia....
  4. Check to make sure your expansion hole at the bottom of the reserve isn't plugged up first. Not that all the advice given so far isn't good, but making sure it's open will save you a ton of bucks. I had a slipping clutch when I bought my first '83. New Barnet springs, new discs, master rebuild, gaskets, and my wallet was $200 bucks lighter, :mo money:and I still had a slipping clutch. I got lots of great advice from this board, but nobody mentioned anything about cleaning out the expansion relief hole. It was a wrestling match, but I finally found it. So all I'm saying is check it first....then go for the springs etc...
  5. Yep, Me too.........
  6. To put this thread back on track, and get it away from what you'd do or what you'd say. I'm grumpy about the number of calls that we are getting wanting donations, and not whether or not your going to answer the phone, give the caller an earfull, or how you're going to mess with their minds..... Telemarketers have been part of our society for years now, and can't be avoided. It's the amount of sleeze bag oportunists that are jumping on the band wagon trying to scam honest folks out of their hard earned money under the guise of helping one trumped up organization or another that probably doesn't enev exist other than their bank account.... Still Grumpy....
  7. The E4 code is fairly common. Are you sure you just don't have another bad controller??
  8. Actually it's not legal, but it isn't illegal either. There isn't a vehicle code on it one way or the other. So they just turn a blind eye.... I wouldn't be a bit surprised if lane spliting weren't a major cause of a lot of the accidents, injuries, and fatalities since most of the traffic reports seem to be on freeways during commute hours.
  9. I misssed that. Thanks for the link.
  10. Are the rest of you as sick and tired of all these phone calls from one obscure organization or another trying to raise money some political or social cause. It seems like all they do is think up some 'cause' and start calling. What a rip. I tell them all to put their head in a very dark place.....
  11. While sitting here in the office every morning I have a news radio station playing in the background. Now that the weather has turned warmer every morning and evening I hear traffic reports of Motorcyclists down, Motorcyclist vs Semi, Motorcylist Abulance on it's way, Life flight, Fatalities..... etc. I'm not talking about once in a while... it's every morning and evening!! It's like mayhem carnage. While typing this another motorcycle accident to the hospital report was just given... It scares the cr@p out of me, to the point I don't run any errands around town any longer. It just ain't worth it...
  12. I agree with everyone's recommendation of higher psi in the Avon. It will also elimate any side wall flex and future cupping... MOF take it right up to max side wall pressure. On the tar snakes you might not have put a lot of miles on the tire yet and still have the new tire finish and it needs to be scrubbed a little more.... Go ride in the twisties... As far as mixing tire brands don't worry about it. I had the same situation with a partially worn rear EII and added the Venom to the front. Ran that way for 6,000 miles without a bit of a problem. Many others here on the board have also.
  13. That's because of all the extra crapofornia additives they require, and all the extra taxes they slap on a gallon.... but it ain't political.......
  14. I picked up one of THESE before the trip to Cody last year. Had a chance to give is a try coming back thru Nevada with temps up around 100. It works, and impressed the 'H' out of me....
  15. Ain't it amazing how much bigger the bike gets when it's layed over pretending to carve a twisty.......
  16. Different mounting system......
  17. Ya know, what I can't understand is??? We've been foster parents to one grand child since she's been 3 months old, and it took me 4 years before the IRS would recognise her as a dependant when filing taxes. They withheld all our returns claiming that we had to prove she lived with us and attended a local school. I finally got things straighten out and got all the returns updated and refunded. They even paid us interest on the money they kept.... then they sent us a 1099 so we had to pay taxes on it. Then we took in our second grand daughter, and legally adopted both... 2 for the price of one..cool!!.... #2 was 5 at the time, and we had to submit the papers proving that both were infact our now legal childern. We basically had to jump through hoops. When I see what's going on with illegals claiming neices and nephews without proof, it makes my blood boil. D@mn right this is political........
  18. Super Fine!!!
  19. Does it hook up OK when you first start out and then start slipping in the higher gears when warmed up and runing hard. If the reserve level is OK, then I agree with Squeeze, and strongly think its a plugged expansion hole in the base of the clutch reserve.
  20. Heck, can I borrow it??? I have the VentureLine Toe/Toe, and am now thinking about cutting the toe peg in half. Makes it easier to get the toe under or over. 'Bout the same length as one on a first gen. It'll even give more room to move around....
  21. He usually shows up at the Barret Jackson Auctions throughout the year. The last one he was sick and didn't make it.... He will be missed. Talk about leaving a legacy....
  22. On the '83 the vacume for the booster is different than all the rest of the years and the hose comes off a bib on the #2 carb instead of off the manafold. My thought is the hose is toast and leaking, and you're not getting any timing advance as well.....
  23. You can get writting paint pens at some of these crafts stores. I picked up one in white and another in orange. I cut the tips to a point and redid my '83. I didn't take a lot of time, and I'm sure anyone could do a better job than I did. I just told everybody it was in Klingon...
  24. That's just about minimum you're gonna get for a CLASS reading on the fronts, and that should be low enough to take the drain screws out and not take a bath... My '83 used to bottom out at 7...
