I generally carry a S&W 9mm in the trunk of the RSV when on the road. It goes into into the motel room with me at night. Here in Kalifornication to carry concealed you'll need a CCW permit issued by the local County Sheriff, whether carried in the waste band or some type of big pocket pants, and the gun needs to be registered to the CCW at the time of issue. It's not the case of thinking 'what should I carry today??'... The title of the video got me going, and I thought it would be interesting to see what they came up with that made a gun legal. IT turned out to be a lengthy discussion on what type of cargo shorts to buy and screwing around with half a dozen mouse autos that would be OK to fit in that pocket that will take half a Yak. So it was boring as all get out. Not one of Hickocks better videos... IMHO... Zzzzzz!

70's!!?? I don't count birthdays anymore.... Me and Jack Benny are still 39.... Just ask Rochester.... :-)

On fantasy Saturday you can still buy a castle or two with the :mo money:some of these peeps are tossing at high end garage queens... I just finished up watching the last of BJ and the last day didn't hold my attention as much as the first when the prices would come close to taking all of my retirement poke... I also streamed the auto paraphernalia auctions. Some of those signs went for more than I could buy a nice RSV.... Must be nice to have that kind of money. The only way I'll ever see it, is win the Lotto.... That's my fantasy... :-) No that's not my fantasy... My fantasy is to be sitting in the bidding audience and have so much money that it means nothing to go big.....

It hit 75degs. here in Northern Hotel California yesterday......

That's the first day when all the bargains roll thru. Craigslist condition. I consider it 'my day' By the time it hits Saturday it's fantasy time.... :-)

Ain't that the truth.... I have quite a few 'Holy Sh_t' moments seeing what some of those cars I've owned are bringing.... I like to record the auctions, and then I can fast forward thru all the Mustangs, Camaro's, and Corvette's..... :-) You can stream the Barrett-Jackson auction right now. The signs etc. auction starts at 6a Eastern, and the cars start up at 9a. Here's the streaming link if anyone's interested... PALM BEACH

I have Mecum and Barrett-Jackson auctions programmed to automatically record when they start showing on TV. This week Mecum started on the 4th and recorded for 6 hrs. I usually view the show while messing around on the laptop, and I might start and stop it on my time. So where am I going with this?? Unbeknownst to me, toward the end they had a collection of motorcycles cross the block. 130 of them. Ducati's, Honda's, Yamaha's, Harley's etc. They even had a V-Max1700, and it went for $7K. They were all mint low mile bikes, and I wished I were sitting in the bidders section... Ida walked out of there with quite a few bikes and not be broke.... Anybody else see it???

Well I've got a different name for 'm but the end result is the same... That's why I hate attending an auction with a large audience.. In a group of 100 people there's always 10 that have more money than brains..... I do well at nickle/dime auctions that has something I can sell and it's expensive. Generally they will all fold at 10-20% value, and I'll get a great buy. I bought 300' of G4/HT 5/16th anchor chain last week for $125 bucks. Sold it yesterday for $300. Retails for around $450-$500. Quick turn, and doubled my money!! And getting back to the '34 Plymouth.... It still has a couple of hours to go and it's siting at 22K. While watching today's Barrett Jackson's auction from Florida an awesome '33 Ford Sedan Custom, that wanted for nothing, sell for 16K....

Waaaay back, before I quit smoking and occasionally smoked a pipe, Zuiderzee was my pipe tobacco of choice.. Don't think they make it anymore?? As far as chopping the stuff up with a scissors try putting it in one of those electric coffee bean grinders. Burp it a couple of times and there ya go... Never done it, but from experience on rendering teak sawdust down to a powder to mix with resin it works great!!

Well it's up over $20,000 this morning. Too much now that I know a little more, and looking over it with a fine tooth comb. It's an old build that has been driven a lot. The engine is nice but doesn't present well enough to be 'showy'.... Running boards are fiber glass, and I bet the fenders are too. So it's not an all steel body which is most desirable... Chrome looks like it's due to be re-done. And to top is off I watched the first day of the Mecum Auction and there were a couple of street rod roadster show cars that were drop dead gorgeous that sold in the 14-15K range. So all in all this one is way too high. Plus there's a 10% buyers premium tacked onto it which takes it to 22K. Add sales tax and you're talking another 1.5K. The '34 Plymouth's that came up when Googled were higher but looked a lot nicer... IMHO... :-) :icon_lurker:

NICE!!!! I've had the hots for one of those for quite a while now. The only problem is it's not on the CA Roster so the only way to find one is buy it from another CA resident. And of course because it can't be imported from out of state they get pricy.... They pull $750+ for a clean used one... Hopefully the SCOTUS will declare the damn roster unconstitutional....

The way the law reads is you can't buy, sell, import, or manufacture any mag over 10 rounds. There was one part of the bill that made it illegal to own one over 10. I have a 14 round Smith that I had to pick up a couple of 10 rounders for just to make it legal. And...maybe I squireled away the 14's. So now they're legal to own but I'm not sure about the using them part??... I'll have to check on that one??

It's just as bad as all those Ford street rods running around with SB Chevys in them. Actually I don't blame them. SB 327-350's are a hell of a lot easier to work on... :-) Well.... it's off and running. I checked earlier and it's already up to 10G's+. Basically because two guys with no brains are in a pissing contest..... I don't think that cruise is gonna happen.... :-( Heck I just checked again and it's up to 16....

Yeah, it wasn't surprising. What really tics me off is they spend our tax dollars to pass their damn unconstitutional gun laws, and then we have to dig into our pockets to fund the legal fees to fight them. It's a double edged sword. We're screwed no matter what end of the stick we're holding... Also with any gun action that's being tried, you'd think that every gun organization needs to beg for money to fund the cause. Whether they have anything to do with it or not.. Talk about a gravy train... And it seems like every beg email I get they're always short of their goal. It's almost like the cure is worst than the disease.... OK off soap box...for a while... :-) Sorry you jumped the gun (pun intended) on the hi-caps Puc. I'd say that if... they hand carried them back home no one would be the wiser.... It's not illegal to own a hi-cap if it was acquired before the 10 round went into effect...but who's to tell..?? I have a couple of 30's for my 10-22 squirled away... They are legal except for a brief period after Prop 63 was enacted and that part of the bill was canceled...

I got a call back from the auctioneer, and it is registered and current. The floorboards are fiberglass, and the fenders might be also?? That would make a big difference in value. They do have the side covers for the engine, but will need to be modified to work unless they are temporaries. Permanents would need to have a piano wire right down the middle of the top. Plus the engine isn't 'chromy' enough to be of show quality. So it will be interesting to see if there are any people foolish enough to toss big bucks at it.... It presents well, but after studying it a bit it does have issues. I thought I'd toss 5G's at it right when the bidding starts... That should be safe enough.... :-) For anyone interested in the rest of the items here's a link https://norcalonlineauctions.com/auctions/northern-ca-classic-car-auto-auction-norcal~1561/

Agree'd... The problem I see is there isn't anyplace to mount the plates, or even if the bumpers are still laying around. Lighting?? It'd need those to be street legal here in Kalifornica... Not to mention passing SMOG.... Maybe once around the block?? Gonna be interesting to see what it sells for.... PS: I just caught a glimpse of a license plate under the back of the rear. Can't believe they didn't include that in the video??

Here's another one close to me?? Can I afford it??????? I did send them a note inquiring about registration etc... So far I haven't heard back...

The Redas look good, but it is strange that they don't give capacity?? The largest from REI is 30 oz. which is a little shy of a quart. If the Reda's are around 1 gal. they would be my choice. Just remember to leave room for expansion when filling them. It could get a bit warm in an RSV saddle bag. 'Specially black.... I remember two members that pulled into Cody WY on fumes 'cause the forgot to top of in Thermopolis 80mi away and nothing but prairie between the two towns... A couple of those Reda's would have given piece of mind.... :-) One RSTD..4.9gals. One RSV w/trailer..5.9gals...

Ok, here's some more info on the 10 round mag issue happening in Kommiefornia.... I received this this morning. So I guess it still means that you can't cash'n'carry or sell a hi-cap after 5p-dst, or you're a criminal... until the liberal courts decide if the law is unconstitutional.... Yeah, a federal judge just declared it unconstitutional, but.... the state will appeal, and until the stay goes thru and becomes law, the 10rnd mag restriction will still be in effect. So, anyone buying or selling hi-caps will be subject to legal action... So hold yer horses on buying anything... We'll get excited...or disappointed... later.. Remember any appeals go thru the 9th district federal court... About as liberal left as you can get...

Nice video of the Candy Store.... :-) There are quite a few wildcat calibers in 6.5 mm that have become mainstream lately. Many of them appearing in the last 10-15 years or so. The Creedmore is really popular, and I'm not sure if it's because the name sorta rolls off the tongue, or it's that much better than all the rest. Posing a question about a 6.5 on a gun board is almost as bad as asking what's the best oil on VR.org... The NOS stands for Nosler of the bullet company. They are also making their own ammo. Military snipers latched on the the 338 Lapua, and every testosterone laden 20 year old had to have one. I own a 338RUM (Remington Ultra Mag) in a 700LSS. Not because I just had to have one, but I won a bunch of custom manufactured ammo in an auction and then had to go out and buy a gun to shoot it in. Ain't rationalization wonderful.... :-) I'm also a staunch supporter of the 6.5, and have been shooting one for close to 60 years, in 264 win mag. 264=6.5. I think there are so many flavors of ammo 'cuase every one is chasing a rabbit that doesn't exist..and never will.. A rifle that will shoot like a frozen clothesline to 1000 yards, deliver knock down power at that distance, and has zero recoil...

A big PUC WOW!! Thatsa nice rifle... It's hard for folks to realize just how much work goes into customizing one of the older Mausers... I picked up this Custom Kimber in 6.5x55 Swede made with a '96 Gustoff Mauser Action. It was built when Kimber was in Clackamass, OR. Not anywhere as nice looking as yours Jeff, but still pretty neat. Most if not all of my Mausers are drilled and tapped. Never realized it was that much of a problem?? Here's a couple of pics.
