We don't check for emissions here either, And no need to take it back to Montana... I registered a '93 1stGen that came from Vermont via Texas. No problem. As long as you have the signed title it's a go... I think all states are compliant with ca smog. Not like the old days when CA 1stGens came with smog junk to meet California requirements....

Found this on youtube about the dealer Milwaukee announcement. It's my understanding that the problems were with the 114??? The bike is registered in Montana, but up for auction here in California. Gotta check to see about the milage rule on an out of state registered bike. I think?? anything under 7500 miles is considered a new scoot. Hopefully 'cause this one has 7600+.. Makes a big difference in taxes.. If you watch the video til the end where they're supposed to run quieter with the same throaty rumble.. This one doesn't sound very Potato Potato Rumbly..:-) California considers any vehicle with less than 7,500 miles on the odometer at the time of purchase or trade by a California resident or business, to be a new vehicle. This is true whether or not the vehicle has been registered in another state.

That was a while back.... Way back when they switched from leaded to unleaded fuel that reeked havoc on our valves.... They're always looking to screw up our lives more because they know better.... :-)

If the 10% didn't get it, the 15 won't either... The problem is with the older pre-ethanol fuel systems. I'm not totally certain, but I'm pretty sure the 10% was around prior to '06....

It's an '06. Must be one of those gas suckers.... :-) I bought it used 6 years ago with 74K original, and it got 15-16 mpg, but lately along with this damn 15% ethanol fuel the mileage has gone to hell in a hand basket... Now I'm getting around 11. Good thing I don't drive it.. or anything else for that matter.. too much... I don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon... After looking at the price of the 2019's, equipped the same way, I can have a new crate 5.6 dropped in it, and toss a paint job on it for around 10 grand. A hell of a lot cheaper than a loaded '19 for 50....

I'm curious.... How many of you farmers have actually killed a rattler??? And what did you use to do the deed?? I've only killed one. 12 ga. Out dove hunting and came across one that measured 5'6" with thirteen buttons when I skinned it out. Decided that I could eat the meat if the time came...

IMHO... if I were ever to carry anything in my pocket it would have to be something small that had knock down power. Trying to defend myself against any aggressor with a small caliper pistol would only end up pissing them off.... I do own a S&W 60 3" in 357 mag with a Crimson Trace set of grips that is about the only thing that I'd ever consider carrying. A small J frame with plenty of stopping power with JHP ammo. It seems silly to have to shoot more than once.... IMVHO.... :-)

I.ve owned and wore out 2 F250 Diesels, but now in my twilight years I wanted something more comfy. So I bought a Nissan Titan LE 5.6. I think the L stands for luxury. At the time it was rated as having the largest cab of all pickups. For smaller folks that's not an issue, but for me it's a big deal.. Love the thing ...... 'cept for the damn gas milage.. It gets about the same as my old '73GMC 4x4. Yada thunk that by now Nissan would have figured out how to squeeze more miles out of a tank of fuel...?? Nope.. they went with horse power. So off the line it;ll pin ya... :-)

Getting to the price issue.... Figure a 16 year old bike with 60K on the odo is worth about 4K in todays market. The Hannigan conversion cost around 10 grand new. Depends on how old the conversion is, but let's say it's 10 years old, and worth around 6 g's... A stab would put it in the $10,000 range. $12,000 is a little on the high side. IMHO... :-)

I'VE BEEN BANNED!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I'm perusing the local guns for sale board and run across a S&W 686 ProSeries SSR. So I started doing some research via Google. One of the links takes me to the S&W Forum website. I couldn't remember being there before, but apparently I had since the auto fill had my email address and password filled in... So I log in and get a nasty looking box that I've been banned...forever... The reason.... Obnoxious Idiot... :-) Then I remember that I got into it with one of the board moderators because he was blowing smoke with his opinions. Imagine that... :-) Me, obnoxious?? Go figure?? It's the only time I've ever been banned from anywhere... I'm so ashamed....

One of the things I've noticed over the years is Yamaha doesn't listen to anything, and they don't understand how leaking info is sometimes the best way to keep their products in the news... Never have figured out why they're so secretive all the time... Doesn't say much for their ad dept... 10-4 on the rear VR caliper.... However I think a weak '83-4 might need a little McGivering to adapt it to a Twogen if the span on the mounting bolts are non-standard like the fronts... I rebuilt one once but can't remember about the bolt span. Anything off an '86 up is a better caliper...

OK here's my spin on this cremation issue. If GOD can raise the dead on judgement day he certainly can put the ashes back together too. Limiting what GOD can do is limiting his omnipotence. I've chosen cremation as well as a lot of the others. I don't worry about what happens to the body after my soul or spirit has already joined his Son and my Savior. Christ died for us that we might live. Jesus said, “God is not the God of the dead, but of the living for to him all are alive” (Lk. 20:37–38). -
So in your 90's huh?? :backinmyday:

A lot of guys end up cutting the H/T, but VentureLine actually makes a toe/toe shifter for the RSV. I've replaced the heel/toe on every one of my RSV's.. I just like the foot farther back on the peg position like a first gen.. And I can move my foot around and not accidentally hit the heel pad. Over 50 years of riding my left toe has been educated to shift up and down...

Hang in there Earl... Seems like the older we get the more butt bounces we take... at least in my case?? So far I've been lucky and only hit my head so nothing damaged... I think?? :-) You take care and heal back to 100%.

I had the same issue with an '83VR that had sat for 3 years out in the weather. I ran a whole can of Sea Foam in a full tank of fresh gas and let it idle for a couple of hours. Maybe burp the throttle every once in a while... At first it ran sorta crappy but little by little it started running smoother. Ran it around the block a few times, sync'd the carbs and she was awesome.... Took it for a 50mi run and then sold it 'cause I already had one.... :-) Just had another thought. Check the diaphrams for holes. They are easy to get to underneath the side covers on each carb. If they leak your not going to get fuel to the motor under acceleration... http://cast-aways.com/CONDORPICS/DOUBLEVRs1.jpg

One of the big problems with the 2ndGens is the rear wheel locking up and making for some exciting moments. Since the rear stopping power is only about 25-30% trying to improve it would only cause more problems.... Changing the fronts to R1's or R6's is all that's needed...

Front end "WOBBLE?" ALSO my introduction
Condor replied to TURBOVEE6's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
If I remember correctly the early '99's had an issue with the bottom bearing race weld breaking, but haven't heard of any complaints in years. I've put a just a few miles in the twisties on my '99RSV and never noticed any wobble. MOF this is the first thread, that I'm aware of, that brings the subject up. First thing I'd do is check for a loose steering head..... -
Steering Head Torque Values
Condor replied to Leland's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Over the years this is what I've done, and it seems to work. Suspend the front wheel and center it. Then nudge it in either direction. It should go to the stops smoothly. If it hits the stops and bounces, it's too loose. If it doesn't make it, it's too tight. Loosen or tighten the steering head nut as needed. Freebird came up with a way to tighten the nut on a 2ndgen. It should also work if loosening is need, but I've never run into a used steering head that needed to be loosened... :-) Should work on a 1stgen as well. You are able to move the steering nut a tad by hitting it with a long screwdriver and hammer. The jamb and the nut will move together. Saves the hassle of removing all the crud to get to the nut....
