    An old thread, but what's better to talk about in the winter to warm the bod up... ?? From personal experience using plain water and using Gator Ade... In '07 after the National in Ft. Collins I rode up into Idaho to visit the 'kids'. When I left the next morning I did 10 hrs in 105degs drinking Disantes at fuel stops. When I got back to the barn in Sacramento I felt pretty good, but it took me 3 days to stop peeing orange. In '11 when riding to and from Cody Wy we drank Gator's at every rest stop and fuel stop, and never experienced dehydration. Temps weren't quite as high as '07, but it was still pushing 100degs. I might also add the besides the change in fluids I also wore different jackets. The first trip I wore a mesh jacket, and the second I wore a solid textile with vents that provided good circulation, but not anywhere near the air movement of the mesh which did add to the 'wicking'. The end result was I'll continue to go with the Gatorade and wear the textile.

    Yep.... Been buying and selling on eBay since '98 and have never had a problem. One thing I do is transfer any received payments to my checking account as soon as I'm notified. I also received one payment of $8,000, and didn't run into any limit restrictions. Now they do consider me a commercial account....maybe that's the reason?? Or... maybe they feel sorry for me 'cause I'm so old...

    You'll get a lot of feedback on this one with a bunch of theory about what to do. Here's mine, and some answers to your questions. Getting the right year can be confusing, but basically it's any of the years where the bolt holes are horizontal rather than later models which are generally verticle. eBay pics will help finding the right ones. You can also use R6 calipers, and yes they will mount in place of the OEM two piston calipers. Just replace the fronts. The OEM back brake has plenty of stopping power already, and you don't want to over do it and get yourself in trouble. As far as the master cylindar goes, I personally wouldn't worry about it. Run with what you have. The addition of the 4 piston R1/6's will give you plenty of performance increase. The best place to find R calipers is eBay. Nice clean pairs usually sell in the $50 buck range. Shipping shouldn't be more than $11 bucks as they'll fit in a medium Priority flat rate box. When adding the new2U calipers install Speed Bleeders in them. They will help bleed and make flushing the system much easier. Have fun.

    It's my understanding that the ethanol comes from a seperate tank??, and is mixed right at the pump. If none is added...there ya go...

    Wish things were the same in California, but I just checked and we have 5 in the whole damm state. All in NorCal, and still too far away to pop in for a tank of real gas. I could make this political, but I'm just going to say 'thank you' CARB....

    I looked it up by the name and the address using Chrome, and both times it show'd The Buckeye Valley Firedistrict. There's not much to Buckeye. I've used the Hwy85 cutoff to by-pass Phoenix traffic. It goes right through the middle of Buckeye, and if you blink you'll miss it.... I suspect the business is being run by a off duty fireman?? And he may be operating without any inventory, and ordering from jobber/wholesalers when needed. When this gun buying frenzy started they ran out of stock, and he got caught with his fist in the coconut....

    This is a screaming deal. Both Honda and Yamaha dealers try to get $3+ each for the washers. Didn't have any luck finding them anywhere else. I picked up a bag last year. Now all I have to do is figure out what I did with them.....

    Yep. They were the maker of the trailer I had in Cody and was ripped off last Feb. Mary and I have had a few long talks over the phone. She likes to tell stories as much as I do....

    My original idea was to run north into Canada and back. No plinking there... And at $4K the bike doesn't get me any too excited.... I'm still raising two teenage girls, and the idea was to put the younger in the passenger seat and the oldest in the car and pull a trailer with the 'stuff'.... That's why the side car, and not a trike. Maybe I could just send them off to their aunt's for a month and take off by myself. It would be a lot cheaper....

    That's made me reconsider this whole side car thing. Getting it to steer with the easy steer would be OK, but I'd still like to take the side car off and ride solo. From what I've been reading the bike wouldn't handle all that well with the easy steer installed and no car... I'd still like to take the girls on a walkabout for a month this summer, but maybe taking the Suburban and doing KOA would be better??? Or maybe say the heck with the whole thing and take a cruise to Hawaii....

    My first 1st was an '83VR with low 40's on the odo, and after tweaking it with the standard things one does to a new2me I rode it to Fort Collins Co in 2007, and then back via Idaho without even a hiccup. In 2009 I rode my new2me RSV with 47K up to Cody Wy. and had all sorts of electrical problems. Luckily on both break downs they happened around help. The first in a small town, and the second on the way back on a group ride over Bear Tooth Pass. Friesman rescued me on that one by riding the 16 miles back to town and getting a battery back up to me. So on the reliabilty issue, I don't think age has anything to do with it, but more maintenence and upkeep. 1stGens just have more time to be neglected. Address the issues and any bike will serve you well.....

    :sign yeah that: PS: I might also add that the trick to removing and extracting the slave is to use an 1/4"x#25 allen head socket and a longer extensioon for the two hex bolts, and to get the slave out rotate it upside down as you pull it out. This allows the dog ear on the slave to get past the shift linkage. Reverse it to put the new one in.

    I'm right at your weight and running E3's on a '99RSV. 40psi in the front and back tires seems to work for me. I also run air pressure at 7psi in the fronts and 45psi in the rear... PS: I also used Freebirds trick to tighten up the steering head bearings, and that got a lot of the sloppy..loose.. feeling out of the steering...
