Not to say your way won't work Brad, but I've found that when doing an R-1/6 caliper swap I leave the pistons compressed and the Speed-Bleeders open when bleeding the first time. This reduces the internal caliper cavity, and there's not as much volume to move when getting all the air out of the system. After the caliper bleed, and lines are free of air....then close the bleeders and seat the pads. Makes bleeding a lot quicker and easier then the old pump and crack method...

Back in '07 I added Purple [something], a water wetter, to my '83 while at the VR National in Ft Collins. Because it was hotter than he11, and the needle was sitting just under the red during the ride to FC, I decided to give the wetter a try. On the trip back...still in the triple digit temps .... the needle dropped down 2-3 widths. Since then it's always run cooler with the better heat transfer properties of the wetter. I might also add it didn't take a complete flush and add to the system like ICE, but just added a couple of capfulls to the radiator coolant and a capfull to the oveflow...just because.

Are you moving there or just visiting?? I have a good friend who owns a horse ranch up on Occatillo north of town.. Likes to ride dirt and goat trails. If you're going to be there a while let me know. Maybe you could talk him into slabin' it?? I may be down there this summer to visit...

I get the same thing, but only once on the first page. I don't use the phone that much to get on the board so I just delete it once and I'm good to go... I can see where multyiples would be a PITA....

Happy B-Day Larry. That make you 39 'n' sumptin'??

I've been watching 'Fantacy Land' aka Barret Jackson, and often wonder what some of these buyers do for a living to afford dropping that kind of coin on some of these '50-'60 resto-mods. I have to admit the intertainment factor is there, but the dream value wanes after the first day with the also rans in the 10-15K range... The Mecum Auction is running in Kissamee FL online. It will go live on Velocity TV for the last couple of days later this week. It's more my speed as far as values go. At least I can dream a little.... The big difference is Mecum has reserves and can be removed once sanity sets in with the seller. BJ is white collar and Mecum is blue collar.....

1987 Venture Royale Jumps Out of Gear Under Load
Condor replied to GuardsmanUSA's topic in Watering Hole
With a 100 thousand on the odo you may never know how it was ridden from the git go, but if the previous owner(s) baby'd the trans gear engagement it's very possible that the dogs have been rounded off over time. You might try shifting aggressively through the gears and see if that might clean up the dog edges. I had an '83 that jumped in and out of gear when I first rode it. Figured what the heck and really hammered the shifting. After 100 miles it stopped jumping and clattering... -
Seperate accounts might be an even better way to go rather than 2 cards under one eBay ID....

Just out of curiousity, but why do you have 3 CC's listed with Paypal?? Even one you don't ever use... I have one registered, and it has both the P.O. and my Phys. address. I've never had a problem??? :confused07:

Lookin' good. Don't forget to post a few pics of them mounted on the bike...

I would think that if it's clicking it's pumping. Disconnect the fuel line and see if you're getting fuel through the pump. IF not then it's the pump. If you are I'd suspect a blockage in the fuel line somewhere. Did it react this way before you changed the filter??

Friesman called it in his post, but to make it clearer.... my fingers will be cold.. and I'll be dead... I've never seen or heard of one made out of chrome. Every pod I've ever seen has been black plastic. But....maybe someone had a plastic one chromed?? Personally I'd leave it black. That pod in chrome would reflect a bunch.

Hard to tell Don, but you're probably right. This Chinese company does injection mold production. I just thought it might be cheaper than having them vacumed here in the US?? The scary part would be sending this one out of the country and it disappearing.... Heck, I've even looked in having them printed?? The pod will ever so slightly hit on a stock RSV, and forget about risers. I thought about relieving this one a tad before having anything done to it.

I've contacted Brent from the Venturers and have permission to reproduce the one I bought from you last year. So the patent isn't a problem. The only stipulation would be to offer them to their members at the same price. The other problem is I've been a little under the weather, plus lazy, and haven't pursued it. I did just received an email from a Chinese injection molding company, and have just started giving production some thought again.

So far the family has dodged the bullet out here in CA. I have been taking the oldest to the hospital for tests and using hand sanitizer before during and after the visit. Hope the flu shot wins.

Yep, the wife and I took that cruise out of Galvastan aboard NCL. It was a hoot. We didn't do a lot of expensive excursions, but one we enjoyed was the jungle cruise in Belize. Roatan was interesting as all get out. Visited an Iguana farm and had lunch at a restaurtant on the way back, where we tossed back a couple of Salva Vidas. Good stuff!! We didn't go ashore in Cancun because we'd just spent a week there the previous year, so we took a siesta... In Cosumel we took a circumnavagation of the island and then took off by ourselves and ate lunch in the mall called Bucket of Shrimp or something??? One of the things we liked about NCL freestyle is the constant intertainment and unending eats. They have a cafeteria that was open 23 hrs a day at the stern. The buckets of bacon and sausage were my favorites... One of the things you gotta do is have dinner at the resturant on the top deck. It has a $20 cover charge, but their idea of surf and turf is fillet mignon and 2 lobster tails... Have a great trip. You're gonna have fun....

In the boating world we deal with condensation all the time. When it comes to fiberglass hulled boats generally one or two light bulbs.. depending on the size of the boat.. will keep interior temps above dew point, but with aluminum and steel hulls the only answer to the problem is complete insulation. Basically making it a giant thermos bottle. In the winter your building will suck in humid air during the day, and then at night cool off to dew point. The idea is to keep the humid air away from the cooler ceiling and walls. Another way to combat the dew is to keep air moving during the night to match the temp of the outside air. When the interior temps are the same as outside temps you won't get condensation. On boats we install solar fans in the hatch covers. The things charge up during the day and run most of the night. After looking at the pics the ceiling and walls look to be aluminum?? If so I bet it's hotter than he11 during the summers in Texas.

Yeah, I remember those good ol' days in East Amherst... The point is you don't have to go out to plow. How do you plow 4' of snow?? 6" at a time....
-
I donno... I imagine when it gets around 6" deep you could go sit down at the computer, stay warm, and have fun. You could even have more fun more often if it's really coming down....

Impressive, but all I could think of was why didn't he use hex cap screws instead of the slotteds and a few phillips???

R6 & De-link Brake Questions
Condor replied to luke000's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just re-read your original post, and one thing you didn't cover was the compatability of the R6 calipers to the '83. Be prepared, you're going to have to replace the front forks with a set off an '86+. The '83 fork caliper holes are 88mm, and your R6's have a 100mm spread. I might also add that I did this to my '83. The increase in stopping power was impressive, and all I did was replace the calipers.... I know Gary has been playing around with different types of caliper mounts. I bet if he designed something to adapt the 88 to 100 there'd be a heck of a market for them??? -
I had a couple pair of Kit Foxes take up residence under my shed/office for a couple of months last spring. We no longer have a rodent problem....
