  1. My new play toy. Just picked this one up out of Wyoming. It's a Uberti Remington 1858 Army BP44 converted to 45LC... Kinda cool..
  2. Only in Kommiefornication... Geesh!! We're paying right at $3.90/gal and it's 15% eth. There aren't any stations that pump non-eth left. I generally use Shell when touring and out of the state. The bike runs better and get's better gas mileage. My Nissan Titan's MPG has dropped 25% since they went to 15..... One thing to consider about the price of gas is this state has about 50% of the cost per gallon is taxes. So they tell us the eth gas is cheaper, and then they jack the taxes up.... I just noticed the LPG site that I use to fill the BBQ tanks has just dropped the cost per gal to $2.18... There's a lesson to be learned here. Drive less...BBQ more.... :-)
  3. Can you even find non-ethanol gas any longer???
  4. If that was a miss fire.... not a good sign.... Must be that bargain basement ammo???
  5. I've worn out three pair of Berky's, don"t spit or chew, but collect guns and knives.... Am I confused???
  6. Ya know how to tell a real cowboy?? If he has a quarter in his pocket.... he ain't a cowboy.... Ya know how to tell a real cowboy?? He's wearing Ah-di-da's.....
  7. Nothing fancy... I wet them down with balsamic vinegar and then put on Pappy's Rub. About a half hour before taking them out I use brown sugar, apple juice, and a smidgen more balsamic for the finish glaze. I start at 400degs for about half an hour, and then reduce the heat to 225 for about 4 hours. I remember one time we were cooking ribs, chicken, and tri-tip for the Camillia Cup Regatta, a local weekend sailboat race, on Saturday night. We planned on a couple hundred to stay for dinner. Once the aroma started to drift across the marina they started coming out of the woodwork. We held are own for the first 300, but eventually ran out of brickets. Left the last three racks in the BBQ and the next morning when I opened up the lid they had finished over night just from the heat of the cooker. When I cut them up the knife went thru the bones like they weren't even there... And they were awesome!! :-)
  8. I have shot a few things off the back of a moving truck..and sometimes sitting on the hood out here in the USSR of the Left Coast. Never a clay bird, but lots of Pheasants.. Next to our duck club there was an irrigation ditch and those ring necks would come out of the corn field to water late in the day. We'd drive the old 'ranch' truck along the ditch road and they'd flush back into the corn. Some didn't make it... :-) Nice Trellis BTW...
  9. I bet I'm one of their best consumer customers. I have Speed-Bleeders on ever bike I own...and a couple that I've sold. The best bang for the buck you can install on your Venture... Had a new one that leaked in the clutch slave the morning before I left for Cody in '09, and they sent out another by rocket, but couldn't wait around pulled one off another bike and it's still on there....
  10. Can I move in next door???
  11. Is it your wind shield or your helmet that is not sealing well??
  12. I've done a lot of slaves on 1stGens with the 2 piece rod and ball, but not the 2nd so I gotta assume that your one piece rod is out of a 2nd. The seal sets between the slave and the block, and to remove it the slave needs to be pulled. It is not accessible from the basket side. Another trick is getting the steel rod out is with one of those skinny magnetic lost nut retrievers with the end that is about the size of a small pencil. Aluminum is non-magnetic so it'll attract the rod only. The only way I've found to bleed the clutch and get all the air out is to force the fluid up thru the slave and into the reserve using applied physics. Take about 5-10 minutes. I have a write up on how and why it works and have sent it to a lot of members over the years if anyone is interested?? The trick that so many hang their hat on getting air out of the system over night by pulling the lever and tying it to the grip is an old wives tail. I think it's mostly passed around as hearsay and not from experience. There is no way in hell air will come out of the system, because the system is closed to the outside world... Some have gotten lucky and not done a thing and given up, come back the next morning, and miraculously the clutch works and do a happy dance. That's because the system was open over night and the air escaped. If anyone has the time there's a 50:50 chance that will work. Also once the system is air free, and during regular yearly maintenance, the clutch can be bled normally using a Speed-Bleeder which replaces the standard bleeder. They have my highest recommendation for bleeding both the brakes and clutch. My 2¢
  13. Love those last two pics Puc.... So now I'm confused??? Would they be Pic-pucs or Puc-pics....
  14. From the title of this thread I thought it might be a seating problem.....
  15. I'm thinking it might not be the brakes but, worn axle bearings.... Had that problem on the '83 and replaced the bearings. Solved the 'brake' noise... :-)
  16. I'd start by cleaning the power plug in the back of the dash..... There are electrical contact cleaners available on the market...
  17. Agree'd... ME TOO.....

I went to my local Harley Dealer and he just gave me a set of take offs.....
  19. Good show ol' man.....
  20. Thanks for the link... Great site!!....
  21. It's really simple.... It's Supply and Demand. I've been in the used market for close to 40 years, and I'm seeing that in everything. My marine equipment business is way down. (Luxury). Used gun asking prices are up, but the market is very slow... Motorcycle sales are definitely on the skid... Saturated market... It will rebound. Seen it before and it'll do it again. I think it's all based on consumer confidence... Once folks have dug their way out of debt, and they have a surplus of money and feel safe,, they'll start spending again.. IMHO....
  22. I noticed that too Bob...??? I gave thought that maybe it's only running on one cylinder since it's sitting there just idling?? Thanks once again for the enlightenment 'O'Harley Master' I somehow just knew you'd chime in with great words of Pucster wisdom....
  23. When I picked up my first '83 Venture it came with a melted bottom of the right bag. The cause? A dragging rear brake pad. The previous owner had replaced the caliper, but when it ran down the road the rear brake locked up tighter than a frogs a$$..again.. That's when I learned about plugged expansion valves and the the need to bleed the brakes regularly.. I replaced the bag, and I think I still have the old one up in the rafters somewhere?? Maybe I'll see if I can find it and take a pic... Back to the subject at hand... I'm in the 'lean' camp. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is a leak in the manifold under the #4 carb.. It might be nothing more than a loose clamp??
  24. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Puc... I've had to deal with the passing of my wife and 3 of my kids, and know it ain't easy... But there's a lot to be said about 'time heals all wounds'.. It gets better.. May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You and the family.
