  1. Works for me Miles. Where are you going to drop anchor for the night?? 28th..29th?? Details..details... Looking forward to meeting the MilesMaster face to face....
  2. I'm running E3's on the front and rear of the '99. The only time I've experienced any side slip was riding down the Chief Joseph Highway into Red Lodge Montana and going over a gazilion hot tar snakes. The bike handled the non-snakepit curves like it was on rails. Running stock sizes and side wall pressures... The new2me '07 has Metzlers, and they're being replaced with E3's as soon as the bank account recovers... The reason most of us went with the E3's is, although very popular, the Avon side wall cracking, and the Metzlers tossing chunks of rear tread. Personally I like the ride and performance of the E3's....
  3. On something that far off I bet they call to verify the price. My first thought was that it's a typo. The T is posted for the same price right below it.
  4. Just took a look at the Venture History section and happened to notice that the color listing by year needs updating... Anyone responsible for that??
  5. Besides all the negative press on this batt they have it listed as something that will fit our Ventures. The dimentions are for something around 4.5 inches square. It won't fit in the battery box of either gen.... That's why I like the DEKA's footprint. BALLISTIC EVO2 16-CELL LITHIUM BATTERY YAMAHA XVZ12 VENTURE ROYALE 1983-1985 Technical Information Dimensions (Metric): 114MM (L) x 114MM (W) x 112MM (H) Dimensions (Standard): 4.5" (L) x 4.5" (W) x 4.25" (H) Negative Terminal Location: Left Weight: 1633 grams (3.6 lb) Voltage (Charged): 13.6V Amperage: 28 Pb-eq A/H Pulse Cranking Amps: 500 CCA Operating Environment: -18°C (0°F) to 60°C (140°F)
  6. Dang!! I just sent a Paypal to Mike with a short note saying 'Hope this helps... Condor' and I get contacted by Paypal wanting me to explain the meaning of 'Condor', and quoting all sorts of leagalize like I was a spy or something, and breaking international law... Usually I don't add a note to a gift, but thought.. what the 'H' this time around. I sent Paypal an email as requested with an explaination about the handle. We'll see how it shakes out.... Also even though the payment is flagged they didn't waste any time taking it out of my balance...
  7. I never have, but if you figure it out let us know. That's why they bring premium dollars when on eBay... Some have replaced the vent with a cover to fill the void.
  8. Looks interesting, however I've never had a problem with any type of vandalism or attempted theft while spending the night in a motel on the road. I do make sure the bike is covered with a cheap black light weight cover. Keeps the bike out of sight, and curious minds away. Plus the cover costs about $20 bucks. I might also add that I don't even use the fork lock... Yes I do take the keys out of the ignition....
  9. Every time I see that term 'Twinky' I get a chuckle... It's amazing how some things just stick. Long time ago when I was a new member...and didn't know squat... I was having some problems. Can't remember what exactely it was, but in trying to discribe what I was looking at, and not having a clue what it was called, I refered to it as a 'Twinky'. Kinda because it looked like one. The dang term stuck....and has intertained me for a lotta years.....
  10. It looks like they got smart. HF was the first place I tried to find something in 17mm and struck out. MOF the socket set I have from them stops at 15mm. However that was a long time ago....
  11. I think it all depends on which saddle rack set up you're after. The flatter saddle racks may present a problem making them fit the roundness of RSV Saddle, however Harley does have a rounded saddle lid and this type may work. As far as getting any info off the board, I'm not aware of a member going in that direrction. Maybe you might have to be the first. http://i.ebayimg.com/t/9481001-Motherwell-Saddlebag-Rails-For-Harley-Davidson-Touring-/00/s/MjAwWDIwMA==/z/n3sAAMXQ01tROVJB/$T2eC16ZHJG8E9nyfoTi6BROVJBSMbQ~~60_35.JPG
  12. The trick is to rotate the slave so the dog ear will clear over the shift rod when pulling the slave out. It actually will be upside down when removing. Same thing going back in. Insert the slave up side down and then rotate making sure the ear clears over the rod. Took a while to figure this one out. That's why I'm so follically challenged.
  13. I just made mine. Works great for removal of the fork plug, and really helps when getting the plug restarted again. The hex is a cut off piece of a 17mm allen wrench, and the only place I could find one was Sears. Every place else stopped at 15mm http://www.venturerider.org/progressive/The%20front%20suspension%20of%20my%2083VR%20was%20continually%20bottoming%20out%20due%20to%20some%20very%20old%20fork%20springs_files/progressive15.jpg
  14. I don't have to worry.... There's Dairy Queen, Micky D's, WopperVille, KFC, etc.
  15. Your AVI will take up a lot of server storage here on the board. Best way is to post it on YouTube and link to it... Who knows, it might just go viral...
  16. Heck, I may not be on your way, but if you ever puttz through the Sacramento area, I'll buy you dinner.....
  17. I picked up one of those in a bike buy, and it was pretty growdy, so tossed it. I think there used to be a member that made those things, but I bet if he's not around Carbon1 could whip one up for you..... I think Squid made a couple in the past too..
  18. If you can find one off eBay, or??? I wouldn't worry about matching the antenna to your radio. I suspect that the OEM's are not matched, but come generically close. Unless you want to shoot skip and run a bi-linier, or just talk to the group on a ride and listen to the trucker chatter, it'll work just fine. Granted you'll fry the finals if you key up without an antenna load, so don't try keying the radio while your searching.
  19. I bet that a bunch of those header adapters could be sold to 1stGen'rs if someone decided to produce them. Since MAC stopped making them there isn't a commercial exhaust builder doing anything for the 83-93's any longer. Adapting Harley's is about the only way. I'd also leave the mounts up to each individual owner....
  20. With the rule of riding 150 +/- miles and tanking up again, the question is why, and who cares?? If you don't feel secure in that you need more fuel carry another half gallon in a spare bottle. REI sells a nice one. I just stick the fill nozzel in the tank and when it shuts off it's enough, and ride another 150miles.....
  21. Actually I used to have a Yamaha wholesale price list from a few years back, and the MSRP's were all Keystoned. I also agree that if a dealer is gouging go find another. However, I never mentioned anything about the MSRP and it being marked up 40%. I did talk about 40% markup. I just figured everyone understood 'over cost'.... For not being explicit I apologize. I just got to thinking. Maybe not all folks are familiar with the term 'Keystoned'. In the retail or wholsale business the term means the the item is marked up 100% over dealer cost, or..... the retail is discounted by 50% to the dealer.
  22. OK so they are Keystoned.... I do shop, but I don't try to find the cheapest dam price known to God like some do. Keep it up and you'll be dealing with Yamaha directly. I do order things through one of my local Yamaha dealers for convience, and they do give me a discount because of it. One of the things I do is to make sure I have the part number in hand of what I want. Takes very little time to wait on me.... unless we BS for a while....
  23. Without going into a long dissertation, 40% is generally the retail mark up on most items, but it's getting killed by online etailers. We all like a deal, but think of it this way. The dealer has to pay for overhead... rent, utilities, payroll, equipment, toilet paper... Etailers don't have to. Yes, some do have brick and mortar's, but walk in and see if you can get the same deal the first time through the doors. When a B&M on the east coast sells something to a one time customer on the west coast at 10% over, it's found business. He still has to rely on local business to keep the doors open. Now if you want to blame someone for the high prices try Yamaha. Some of the prices on their parts are insane...
  24. The boot that Owl makes only covers the portion of the fork that the seal slides over protecting it from UFO's. A seal that leaks because of a scratch or ding can ruin your whole day.... I've been hit a couple of times in the legs with stones while traveling on the freeway that I'm sure would have done damage to the shaft instead of creating a dent in my leg.... YeeOuch!! Dam!!!
  25. Yep, same problem here, and that's what I did to mine.... A lot of members genuflect when they talk about their heel/toe shifters, but I'm not one of them. One more thing I've been thinking about is cutting the length of the peg so I don't have to swing my foot as far out to clear. I really don't need a peg that goes completely across the top of my boot. The 1stGen's are much shorter and IMHO very comfortable when shifting. I read a 'how to' article about shortening the peg somewhere??... The hunt starts...
