Kinda like what a 2ndGen looks like....huh???

Ever since Japan moved 13' closer to California, Mama Nature has gone nutz. There could be a lot of areas that will have temporary to permanent climate shifts. I took a year of Climatology in college, so have been a frustrated closet weatherman ever since. The oceans control the weather and it's fragile. Ocean temps around Hawaii have increased by about 1.5 degs. That's all it takes to screw things up. IMHO the seismic event in Japan opened a rift, and has been heating the waters which in turn have been effecting the weather. It'll take a while to figure out the repeatability of what's been happening, but if we have another year of the samo-samo in 2014, we might consider changing lifestyles....

Great!!! Now I gotta go find a chainsaw... or a willing barmaid.. Guess that's what happens when you can't find a church key...

I'm waiting for the V6 based on the new V-Max motor. I don't care what tour bike they stuff it into. If BMW can shoehorn a transverse inline 6 into the 1200LT frame, surely Y can slip a 3 wide into something they already have with room to spare. I bet it would rattle the cages of the other builders, and capsure a big market share of the new bike touring market. All I gotta do is live long enough to see it.....

What kind of performance to expect when pulling a trailer?
Condor replied to etcswjoe's topic in Trailer Talk
That's my thinking as well.... -
Another thing that might have happened is the fuel overflow cut off may have gotten stuck when you dropped it, and is not allowing the tank to breathe. I think that may be the same thing I'm dealing with. The '07 ran fine until I 'tilted' it coming off the trailer. The engine 'tilt kill' worked, and the fuel didn't spill anywhere. Now it's hard starting and runs like crap. Gotta check that valve. Or take the cap off and see if it runs any better?? I'll also check the fuel pump and install an aftermarket if needed. BTW Goose covers that in his tech article about using replacement parts.

IMHO that rack isn't made for the 2ndGen trunk. It looks more like it came off a 1stGen MKII. The MKII's have a cowling behind the passenger back rest the needs to be cleared. Attached is a pick of the rack on the '07RSV with the strap on the base as well as a duplicate strap under the trunk lid for stiffness and support. Don't laugh. It took a long time to get the bike in that perfect position to take that pic....

So what's wrong with getting a shorter windshield if it's upper body cooling you want?? I think the original poster complained about engine heat at 80degs. Last time I checked around the ankles is where the exhaust sits.... Still confused about that engine heat though???

I've seen several sets on ebay over the years. Just never knew if they were oem, or??,,, and the sellers didn't either...

The big question is are they still available, or have they drifted off onto the 'discontinued' list?? BTW, thanks for IDing them. I didn't know where they came from...

I picked up a set of E3's due to absolute neccessity right after buying the '99 a couple of years back. Total from JW was around $215 on the door step . Everything is digging into the pocket book more these days.. My local Y dealer mounted both tires for $90 bucks...on the bike!! Rode in, walked to breakfast, came back, and rode out 2 hours later... The good ol' days!!!

hid headlight causing cb problems
Condor replied to Atoolnut's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hmmm?? Good thing huh?? I thought HID's ran a ballast like a flourescent. I guess I was mistaken.... -
Yep..yep..yep...... Pledge and a micro-fiber towel. Cheap and very effective...

Probably the same reason florencent lights screw up AM stations on the radio??? -

I hear ya.... The wings I have on the '07 look great and will catch a lot of air if turned the right direction... They actually look like they are made for the G2,, Another thing I find curious is riding in 80degs caused excesive heat off the engine. I've riden in 102-105degs acrossed Nev and didn't notice any engine heat... heck everything was hot....

They'll never send it, and say they did. Then they'll start yanking your chain and say they need to send a check. I actually got one to send me a check. Drawn on some bank..which doesn't exist. I think I still have it somewhere in the office. I wish there were some way we could send them a virus that eats their hard drive....

OK, I misunderstood. My bad. I did go take a look at the hinge on the '93 and they are torx....
-
Had to laugh... Way back when I had a '53 CJ3 and like yours everytime I hit a pot hole it would be an E-Ticket ride with the tires fender slappin' big time. The only way to get it straightened out was to come to a complete stop, and then start again, and all was good til the next pot hole... It was intertaining...

I just took a look at a set of hinges I have. I'm not sure if they came off a MKI or MKII, but in any event the hinge pins are press fit and not removable on this set. To take the to halves of the trumk apart the hinges need to be removed. I assume this is for security reasons. Otherwise anyone could open your trunk without a key?? Just guessing here...?? Another thought is that the hinge pin might not be stock and already modified on your bike by a PO, if your the second owner?? I just took a look at the manual and these hinges look the same as those shown. So it looks like if you want to keep the bike absolutely stock, you're going to have to replace the hinges... Otherwise take a trip to ACE Hardware.

I never had to go to the trailer since my wife always told me to get out of the house and leave her alone... However, I did go to one on the '99 before going to Cody in 2011. Needed the extra space to pack all the raffle prizes. http://www.cast-aways.com/CODYPICS/P1000518%20(Large)_small.JPG http://www.cast-aways.com/CODYPICS/P1000425%20(Large)_small.JPG

On my '83VR I just carried a duffle in the passenger seat. Tools and 'stuff' were delegated to the saddles. Pack all the soft stuff... T's, Skivies, socks etc.... to one side of the duffle and it makes a great back rest to lay against while slabbin'.... Now if you're riding 2 up....go buy a trailer...

I can understand and share your feelings Steve. It's scary. Both my wife and I went through bouts of cancer in 2012. Sadly my wife didn't make it, but thankfully I did. Her's was liver, and mine was colon. So I can understand more than most, and pray that you're outcome ends up like mine, and you're a survivor too....

I bet that does get your attention. However.... I do have another question being gun shy and all. I've never paid any attention in the past when swapping out batteries, but can we get a spark when connecting the negative side on an RSV?? It wasn't a huge blast, more like a little more than a tickle. I can't remember... I tried using the wet cell batt I picked up in Wyoming after killing my Deka until the new Deka arrives from Bohannon. When I touched the positive it sparked a bit and I immediately separated it because I had the yips!!. After thinking about it a bit I thought there might be a little maintenance flow at the git-go, but wanted to ask just in case I have something serious going on. Clock, off radio, I don't think would draw that much??
