That will work to remove small amounts of air trapped behind the banjo bolt. Actually just tweeking the lever without banging on the master works pretty good too. When I reverse bled a members clutch at Ft Collins, in not the greatest of conditions, I had to resort to 'tickling' the lever to get the dregs of air out. Haven't had to do it since.... MOF now that I think about it I bet your method would work better if you banged on the banjo???

missing oil galley line?
Condor replied to sandman's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Maybe since you can't find the line in the fische for either the V-Max or the Venture, and yet you have one on your V-Max, maybe it was added??? -
Hmmm?? So I guess it's A, BED, CED, DED, ED, F, GED, H, I J, K, L, M, N, O, PED, Q, R, S, TED, U, VED, X, Y, ZED.... Interesting.....

That's basically the same condition as my '99RSV... same milage, and all the maintenence records. Paid private party $4100 almost 3 years ago with a ton of bling added by the previous owner. It did need a new set of tires @ $300. So together....$4500 with the registration...

I don't want to sound disrespectfull with all that's going on and feelings at this time, but it's hard enough to get one M&E going, let alone one in every state. Let me toss this out. How about a memorial post where all can participate at their own time by taking a pic of themselves in front of their state's 'Welcome Sign' and holding a placard with Gunboat's name on it. Then posting the pic to the Memorial Post. That way he'd be remembered around the world... Don't forget Aus, Ger, UK, Norway, etc. And more than one rider from a state can post. No limit... My

Lynn (Pegscrapper) wrote a post that's in our Tech Section about replacing the shift pin cluster with one from a 2ndGen. Read all about it..... HERE I wouldn't worry about fishing that pin out, but just let it attach itself to the magnet on the drain plug eventually. PS: Here's a link to the 2gen part. http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/yamaha/Y-4NK-18185-00-00.html $31 bucks... Not bad

Feels loose in corners
Condor replied to MongoE9's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I ran into the mushies when I bought my '99. Tightened the steering head for 100% inprovement. Freebird has a write up on how to do it on the cheap. And Dingy sells a tool to do the job if you don't want to take the short-cut. I'll probably end up taking the cut on the '07 as well. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=511 -
There's a couple of switches in the braking and clutch systems, and also the neutral safety switch that might be effected by viabration and heat. Kick stand switch??

Stupid Brake Bleeding??
Condor replied to ericdg16's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The speed bleeders for the R1 calipers are the same as those for the MKI and MKII first gens. If the 8125S are what you have then you already have the right ones. In the bleed dept. The fronts are not connected to the rear. After installing the speeds take two clear hoses and attach them to the bleeders, Put the other ends in a catch bucket of your choice and pump away all bubbles are gone... You probably compressed the pistons before mounting the caliper. Don't close the bleed valve and try to pump them up before bleeding. Leave them compressed. Once the air is out of the lines, shut the valve and pump them up til hard. You should be good to go, and the whole process shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. -
Maybe ignition switch?
Condor replied to sendaro_99's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Has the '07 battery ever been replaced?? The batt on my '07 was an original Yausa when I bought it a few months ago. Actually it had K5 stamped on it so was few years older than the bike. Got hard to start, and finally gave up the ghost. Replaced it with a DEKA AGM and hard starts are no longer an issue. If a battery is marginally low the dash and turn signals will go crazy.. -
I see where Calgary is having flooding problems, and we're expecting rain down here in Sacramento on Monday. Mama Nature is sure pissed off lately....

may be something .. may not
Condor replied to Big Lou's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If it's a 1stGen then put in on the center stand. If it's a 2ndGen do the Eck method. If it's a couple of cc's off one way or the other it ain't gonna make a hill of beans difference... -
Need light weight outdoor cover for 2nd Gen RSV
Condor replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
With 7 bikes I buy lots of covers. The best one I've run into so far is the Cycle Gear BILT cover. Well made, sheds water like a duck, and a 5 year any reason replacement warantee. The RSV takes the XXL. And they are on sale for $49.95..... BILT is the private lable of Cycle Gear, and they hit the ball out of the park on this one. -

One of the things you might want to check on any tach you decide on, is whether it's compatable with a wasted spark ignition.... The RSV are wasted spark systems. The Autometer Pro-Cycle tach I put on the '99 had 4 dip switches and would handle 1 or 2 or half pulse signal.

I blew my back out big time in my mid 20's. Two weeks in traction. So every once in a while I end up 'tweeking' it, and sometimes really screwing it up. I learned to live with it over the years, but when they discovered Motrin/IBpropin it made my life a lot easier. It's the old folks med of choice.... Like Steve said it's probably been agrivated by favoring your knee....

I already have that with my Nolan N-Comm 103 helmet. Bluetoothed helmet couples to my Garmin c550, with GPS, MP3, and it is bluetoothed to my cell phone. I also have a media hard wire for both the '99 and '07 so I can use the bikes audio and CB. I got it all.... Ta-dah!!

Yep, getting old is a biatch... So I'm out running the '07 a bit, and I hear it drop a cylinder. Crap!!! Then it wouldn't idle.... until I turned the fuel on and everything was fine... Duh!! Been thinking seriouisly about down sizing lately. MOF I'm about ready to put the '91 on Craigslist.

Nobody ever said I was quick.... But, finally got the battery from Bohanon installed. This time no sparks on the neg. And... the fuel pump pumped, the carburators carbed, and the pistons....well never mind... The bike did fire the second time and after a rough start it smoothed out and ran great. 1 up 1 to go. When I came home from Cody in '11 I wasn't feeling all that great. Very tired. So I pulled the bike up on the front sidewalk, turned it off, and never went near it for almost two years because of health issues. I know better, but one of the things I did was run the fuel down into the reserve because I planed on working under the tank fairly soon and figured it's going to be lighter. Never happen. Went out this morning and looked in the tank. Rust. I did stick a rag down the throat and it appeared to be surface rust. So tanked it up with fresh fuel, a blurp of 5-30 oil and half a can of Sea Foam. It fired up but the throttle wasn't free. Almost like it needed a little lube on the cables and Deep Creep on the linkage. Been there and done that a few time before... But..... after shutting it down I could smell gas and there was a big puddle of fuel under the bike. I figured it was coming out an overflow due to stuck bowl valve. Then I walked around to the other side to turn the fuel off, and the fuel valve was leaking like a sieve. Turned it to 'off' and it still leaked. Turned it to 'on' and it leaked. Turned it to 'res' and it finally stopped. The pitcock was were all the fuel was coming from. So now it looks like the '99 is going to get a new one....and I'll need to drain the rest of the fuel out of the tank so I can work on it..... Grrr!! Or... has anyone ever replaced the pitcock while the tank was still on the bike???

Nice job..... -
I donno I've been doing pretty good with just the GPS. Besides I think having all that stuff going on in your field of vision would be very distracting while keeping your head on a swivel.... Kinda like texting and driving.....
