Ditto on the price, but it's the only game in town... It looks good chromed, and it doesn't interfer with the sidestand... The foot lift is black if that'll help....

Whada difference. Had the E3's mounted and balanced on Seven yesterday morning. Even though the Metzler on the front was virtually like new... On the way to the dealer it felt like the bike was all over the place. Afterwords on the way back to the barn the bike felt like it was on rails. I'm a happy camper, and I should have expected as much seeing as how I experienced the same thing on the '99 just prior to riding to Cody. DeJa Vu!!

YEP! too... I searched and they didn't even offer a trunk in their accessory area. Maybe a Harley trunk will work....??? It ain't a touring machine unless it's gotta trunk....

Hey Owl... I'd come!! But.... that far west will cut off a lot of members along the Atlantic coast states. No way I'd expect someone to travel 4-5 days to attend an IR. Same thing for those of us out here on the west coast. The IR ain't Sturgis. That's why I suggested somewhere in the middle. One of the reasons that Cody and Ft Collins turned out so great is we had awesome historical riding, great lodging, terrific fellowship, and it was accessible to a lot of members within a 2 1/2 day ride or a 1000-1300 miles, and it was worth the ride. Now that I think about it a bit...Sturgis or somewhere in the area in June would be a possibility. The Black Hills, Rushmore, are a couple of rides in the area that I haven't seen yet and are on my bucket list... I might also add that treating an IR like a big meet and eat with a couple of rides tossed in doesn't excite me any. We have enough local M&E's. If I'm going to be gone for 2 weeks I wanna be intertained.....

Advice? Switching to V-Max cams
Condor replied to BadPigg's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
You may want to start a new thread as this one's 7 years old.... :backinmyday: -
I'd come if it was held somewhere in the middle. Western/North and South Dakota, and Nebraska. Eastern/Colorado and New Mexico. Otherwise youse guys have fun....

When I talked to the Rivco gal on the phone I did put in a mild protest about the price, and agree $400 bucks is steep. The price used to be $349, and was probably less than that 10 years ago. I lucked out big time on the one I have on the '99. Can't remember exactly where I found it... this board or eBay, but it cost $150. I guess if I cost averaged them it won't hurt as much....

You're still trying to compare the effects of lower pressure on a 4x car tire and trying to apply it to an MC tire, plus your recomendation of 33psi is bad advice. Most MC tires are designed to run at 40-42psi.., unless of course you want to go off roading and run balloon tires.. Max sidewall tire pressure is where you want to be, and I have never seen an MC tire that runs that low. MOF you keep saying that the contact patch is very important to you, but when the sidewall of an MC tire with low pressure goes into a turn the patch may be longer, but only half of it is making contact due to sidewall warping. BTW isn't it about time to become a supporting member??? I'm also a lay person, and didn't realize you held a PHD in Physics...

I think your problem is you're comparing apple to oranges.. That link you provided is about car tires. MC tires are a whole 'nother animal. Rather than going into a long disertation about tire psi's try reading THIS...
-
A lot of manufacturers are recommending 50psi in their tires to prevent sidewall flex. 33psi will only get you tire cupping and premature wear....

Take heart youse guys... It ain't even broke'n in yet.... You'll get plenty of chances...

Clutch not shifting - on the road in CO
Condor replied to Mike G in SC's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yeah.... I'd like to get more feedback on this. Like what wasn't it doing to not shift?? Was it stuck in gear, or slipping?? Fil us in when you can. -
Had to buy one of those square rubber chingaderos to cover the clutch slave bleeder... $22.00 bucks... After reading Bob's post below I got to thinking. Banjo-bolt Crush washers. You know the ones they charge $3.50 +/- ea. for at most bike shops. I ran into them somewhere... Carr-McMasters it think??.... and bought a 100 pack for $30 bucks. $.30 cents each.

I have the set you have pictured on the '99 and a set that has sort of a spike on the '07..I guess to gore rabbits??. Both from P.O.'s. They both look OK, but if the chrome does start to peel I'll get 'm stripped and polished out. They are aluminum and chrome doesn't want to stick for some reason??

Congrats Omer.... Sadly it looks like my winning streak is over... -
I just did a little surfing looking for the Puralator F10024 fuel filter and ran acrossed this which I thought was kinda interesting.... The filter is a metal unit, and the OEM is plastic, but the strain on the pocket book is a heck of a lot kinder.... The WIX 33027 is $3.69 at O'Reilly's... I ran acrossed a couple of tests on oil filters a long time ago and the cheepest...the WIX.. came out on top. So they do make some good stuff. Lexan is more impact resistant, but scratches easier..... Acrylic is the way to go because of the reisitance to scratching. Otherwise you're going to need to replace the windshield a lot more frequently....

Replacement starter
Condor replied to MasterGuns's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I've been reading 4 brush starter posts for years and always wonder.... Is a two brush so bad??? A lot of my bikes are 1stGen 2 brush bikes and they start just fine. Some with gobs of miles on the odo. I really can't see changing out a starter unless it's DOA, or you've shaved the heads and added high compression pistons. And if one does go I'll replace it with a 2-brush for less bucks..... -
