  1. Here's one on eBay. New with free shipping. [ame=http://compare.ebay.com/like/290941656903?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar]YAMAHA 1NL-25836-00 COVER DUST *NEW on eBay![/ame]
  2. There's a gromet that fits in the front slot that the front tab slides into and keeps it fairly snug. The tab at the rear should keep the cover from sliding forward and smacking you in the chest. If the tab is gone, the reason is there originally was a crush sleeve that kept the rear tab gromet from getting crushed and breaking the rear tab off. The crush sleeve falls out easily when removing the cover for anything, and that's the reason a lot of the tabs are broken off. Many riders use a large washer to keep the cover from sliding forward. So, if you have the front gromet and rear tab secured there's no way that cover could come loose... My
  3. You can go ahead and replace all the pads with HH. ...or Sinistered.... your choice. If you're going to go the HH route you might as well do them all.
  4. To keep the 70/30% mix the same I'd replace with an OEM style organic pad. You do know that the left front and the rear are linked?? When using the right brake lever you are only actuating the right brake caliper...
  5. Some great minds think alike.... others just love to mess with things electrical... I honestly didn't read #6. I got my idea from Cadillac, where they ran fiber lines off the signal lights up to small fins on the top of each fender. Those were the indicators.. I think it was the same model that had the auto-dimmer on it???
  6. With all this electronic McGuivering.... how about fiber optics??? Just thought I'd toss that in there... Drill a small hole in the housing and run it to a small hole in the dash. One could get real fancy with the dash cluster....
  7. Where is your clutch release point on the lever??
  8. No way that trailer weighs 440 pounds unless the frame is built out of 2x2x1/4 wall square stock. It may be a tad longer than average, but still towable. There are tent trailers being towed that weigh more. The problem I can see due to length is keeping the tongue weight at around 30-40#'s. I'd put a couple of 2"x6" cross stops to keep the load sorta centered over the wheels and load that first, then do the balancing act.
  9. I think we just didn't move fast enough for him...
  10. I've never seen any sort of tube in any that I've opened up. Might be a McGuiver attempt by a PO to get rid of moisture...???
  11. The Beem'er 6 is inline, and the V4 is not revolutionary....
  12. I wonder if their timing couldn't have been better now that H has released the water cooled twin. Heat has always been an issue wih the H V-twin. Probably the number one complaint since CC size race started. I don't care what they have done to make the Indian engine run cooler, I think they've dropped the ball. I also think they should have scrapped the nostalgia trip on the motor, and came out with something really revolutionary with the Indian Logo slapped on the side... Something that no one else has done. V6??? My
  13. That's the reasoning I used on the '99. I even went with black up front too. They grow on you.... It is OK to mix brands. I ran my '83 with a Venom on the front and an EII on the rear for 5000 miles before finally installing the rear Venom. Even though I'd bought them both at the same time.
  14. I bet it's the same type you'd use in the forks. 10 or 15 wt BellRay
  15. If you want to swap out the gears I think all V-Max finals will work, but if you plan on using the V-Max case you'll need to make sure it's one of the later styles that have the speedo pick up flat spot in order to drill and tap. Not sure what year they went to the new style casting, but I bet it was '99... maybe??
  16. Seems like a combination of 'letting 'm hang out', and 'Letting 'm air out'... Ditto on the bad camera work...
  17. Dang, I haven't thought of this in years. Back in the early 60's down in Azusa Ca. I was riding home on a dark and deserted road around 10 at night and passed a bike parked off to the side. Flipped a U, and stopped to see if I could help. . The rider was on his knees groping around on the ground. No flashlight. He explained that he'd been pulled over by a cop and given a ticket, and after the cop took off he couldn't find his key. Figured he'd dropped on the ground somewhere. It was a UK bike, and back then they didn't have cut keys like they do now. Just one of those stamped out El Cheapo one key fits all things. So being a UK rider myself I whipped out my trusty universal screw driver and turned the ignition on, the bike fired and he was one happy camper.... Told him to pass it on...
  18. Running the bowls dry is a good idea. Just make sure you park it with a full tank of gas with Sea Foam. I wouldn't go thru the trouble of hoisting the bike off the tires. 5-6 months isn't going to damage them. Also double check the coolant and make sure it has enough antifreeze since it'll be over the winter. Battery on a tender.
  19. Knock on a big chunk of wood. I guess I'm blessed. I picked up 2 used LN Garmin Streetpilot c550's off eBay for $50 and $80 bucks 3 years ago and so far they have performed flawlessly. One for the bike and one for the suburban. They look just like the C550 Zumo's except they are not waterproof and the screen is a little hard to read in the direct sunlight, but still do-able. They do have bluetooth for the cell phone, an MP3 player, and of course the GPS. The only glitch I run into is Garmin keeps hammering me to upgrade the maps every time I go to their site online. Up grades are a waste. 99% of the map info is still current, and I'm not going to pony up the bucks just for that 1%.... My
  20. 2400 miles one way for me. 5 days plus going and coming. That's why I ain't gonna be there....
  21. I took the wrong turn in Victorville Ca a couple of years ago and ended up on RT66 headed north to Barstow. It was a hoot just to think I was actually on RT66 even for that short period of time. It's on my bucket list too...
  22. WOW!!!!!!
  23. One of the things you gain with a long tongue is being able to control backing up easier. The trailer wil not react as fast to the much quicker movements of the trailer ball on the bike. With a shorter tongue the trailer almost has a mind of it's own, and backing out of a motel parking space is a PITA... I think by the time you add an ice chest it won't look as remote....
  24. The CMU light control needed to be resoldered on my '83 when I first got her. Being a lazy sort, and since I didn't do a lot of night riding, I just left the switch on high beam and adjusted the beam down to low. About a year later I found a mint lo-mile dash assembly on eBay for a few bucks and did the R&R. Head light went back to normal... .
  25. I'm not sure about the 660 and 665, but some GPS's have a reset button accessed with a pointed object. I had an older unit go wacko when in Ft Collins. Drove me nutz until the light bulb went on and I hit the reset. It's been sane ever since. I just noticed that my c550 has a rubber plug covering a hole near the volume control. Could it be???
