  1. Visited the site and didn't see a donation button for suporting members???
  2. I think I may have figured it out.... He's looking for the front air scoop from under the head light... maybe?? And the Luggage rack for the trunk aka the 'box'....
  3. I can't emagine what it is you're looking for??? Could you be more discriptive....
  4. Two things I'd check out. #1 the rectifier, and make sure it's not allowing a voltage higher than about 14.2-3vdc when charging the battery, and #2 if the battery is a wet cell give Bohanon a call and install a DEKA AGM. From all the corrosion you're experiencing the battery is gassing or boiling over. Clean it all up, and it'll do it again on your next long trip....
  5. I was going to make you an offer but you'd have to come up with lots of CASH!!
  6. I just poked around a bit and came up with THIS Although it isn't made to fit our bikes perhaps the seller could design something for the RSV. I also ran across a few Harley references to something they use for their rear air shocks...??
  7. I think we've already paid for it.... in full.....
  8. BOAT..... Break Out Another Thousand.....
  9. I took a look at the part number for an '83 and the number is the same but it has 26H in the prefix. It then changes to 1FK in the '86 and that number is the same into the second Gen's. The actual part number is the 16381. When ever they change even a small something they will change the prefix to indicate the year it first appeared. Even a color, or machining process. As long as the number is the same they are interchangable. So go for it. They will all fit from '83 on.....
  10. Wonder if you'd be saying that if you were getting 10mpg and having to stop every 50 miles to fill up....
  11. I believe they are all the same Dan. Here's a link to what Y calls the 'push lever' and if you scroll down it lists all the model years it'll fit. Damn near everything. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/yamaha/YP-1FK-16381-11-00.html?gclid=CNWk6K-50LkCFSU6QgodBCIAKQ
  12. That's what I said the first time around.... now I own two!!!!
  13. LOL.... I bet it smells nice.
  14. With all the extra's on this bike, and the milage, someone's going to get a h3ll of a buy. My '99 has a bunch of Ventureline Bling on it to the tune of around 5 g's retail, and this one has even more 'stuff'.....
  15. Gels must be charged at below 13.4vdc to avoid gassing. What happens over a period of time with a higher charge rate the bubbles will stay suspended in the gel, generally seperating the gel from the plates, and reducing the efficiency of plates to transfer amps and performance to deteriorate. Our rectifiers charge at 14.2vdc and will cause gassing. Wet cells and AGM's don't have this problem. Gel cells generally are not a good choice for any motorcycle. Personally I'd take the thing back to the store you bought it from and exchange it for an AGM. Hopefully a DEKA if they have them....
  16. Gotta question?? The link takes me to a Road Star page and the schmatic shows a different location of the TPS. So... Would there be a difference from the Road Star readings and those for the RSV since the TPS controls the timing curve... or is that something that's converted in the TCI?? According to Goose the resistance goes down not up from idle for the RSV??? This is interesting as I'm in the process of swapping out the carbs on the '99 and figure as long as I'm in there I might as well make sure everything is Kosher while they're off.....
  17. It may be the mirror arm being too small, or you're in need of a carb sync?? A friend just gave me a set of new cool looking mirrors for Seven, because they were metric, and he's an SAE Harley rider. I thought I'd give them a try even if the arm diameter looked a little smaller than OEM. IF they do pick up a vibe they're coming off. Although I gotta admit Seven could use a carb sync. She's vibrating more than the '99. It might help....???
  18. A lot of us have found that riding in the twisties and staying out of 5th gear will generally give them better mpg. Happens all the time with my 1stGen, and even with my 2nd....
  19. I wonder just how much good they do anyway. Most later model calipers don't even have them. I think opting for more cooling rather than trying to keep dust and dirt off them... IMHO......
  20. Randy, I responded to your post #5 where you asked how cluch fluid could get in the engine oil? I responded with a possible way. Maybe I should have just ignored your question rather than get into a lengthy debate.....
  21. OK Randy, I'm all ears. Where's the DOT3 going??? Remember according to the owner there's no external evidence of leakage anywhere.... Also take into account that the bike is going on 30 years old. Seals don't last forever. Engine heat, and wear will take their toll...
  22. Maybe you call it something else, but that's the best description I could come up with. The slave is physically linked to the clutch basket by a pair of push rods, one short..one long, with a steel ball between them. This passes thru the engine from one side to the other in a "push rod channel".... Perhaps tube would have been a better term?? It's possible for DOT3 to leak past a bad slave piston seal and also leak past the tube seal that the rods pass thru. I thought you must have, but have you ever rebuilt a complete clutch system???
  23. Call Rick at Buckeye... He'll fix you up....
  24. Leaks past the slave piston seal and enters the engine thru the push rod channel.
  25. On boat canvas we use 303 protectorant. If you do a google you'll get all kinds of hits. Here's one
