Since the 2ndGen metal front fender is much stouter than the plastic on a 1stGen, a front fork brace isn't really neccesary, and the reason no one makes one is there wouldn't be a demand.

OK, I went to replace the lens covers on the '07 with some that are tinted smoke. I ran into a problem once before when working on the '99, but I've forgotten what I did back then. Anyway, how many of you have pitched that dam rubber gasket when replacing a bulb etc.??? Is it just me or do the rest of you have the same problem. After screwing around for 20 minutes trying to get the gasket back in there, I fianlly said the he11 with it and left it out and it fits just fine without it.....

My understanding was the big reason to having the raffle was to fund the SAF, and the trailer was the traditional prize. One of the reasons I bought raffle tickets was not to win a trailer, but because it was a way to support VR.org. I wanted to change the grand prize for Cody, but was over ruled. I didn't agree, and logistically it was a PITA, but it did raise SAF bucks which now should be very comfortably funded. I'm glad to see that thinking has finally changed. So tossing in my suggestions for a Grand Prize would be a Carribian Venture Cruise for Two, which would be about the same value as a trailer, or a 50/50 cash raffle. Neither would be anywhere near the hastle of lining up a trailer... IMHO...

They'd better hurry up. I don't have that many 2 wheel miles left in me. I'd hate to be smitten and then let it sit....

droping out of First HELP

Simple answer is it's in the tranny and it's not really a gear. If you take a look at the tramission page in the online parts catalog #D2 Part #20, it will give you a better idea of what's going on. If the transmission is baby'd when shifting, the leading edge of the dog or disc that engages into a matching impression in the matching gear face, the leading edge will start to round off and eventually will start to jump out of gear under hard excelleration. You can feel the action if you try to engage a gear slowly. It's much like what goes on in the old 1stGen pre-'85 bikes because of a weak washer. The leading edge can be rounded off in much the same way with the soft engagement although it's not very common with second gens. Try a hard shft into 1st. After a while it will stop jumping... I actually have gotten dogs to seat doing this.... I think what happens is the hard shift beats the leading edge bak into a sharp edge again and engage deeper in the recess. I remember one of the members actually splitting the case and undercutting the dog for a more possitive engagement. -
With my Nolan bluetooth I use a Nolan media hardwire for the CB. The wire is designed to plug into a Honda or Yamaha 5 pin and a Nolan helmet. Not sure if the Uclear even has an auxiliary plug.

Electrical question

It is cool. I see where if you were to buy a used bike out of the 5 year warantee from a dealer you can apply for a YES contract. The kicker would be how much would they charge for the policy??? It might be worth it to get a 1 year just because..... -
Trunk Rattle Last Cure

That was cool!! Good thinkin'. I usually don't go slow enough to hear anything over helmet noise, and the exhaust note drowns out all the noises when sitting at idle. Now ya got me thinking, and will need to check to see what I've been missing. -
This post should probably be moved to the 1stGen Tech forum....

I'm with Freebird on this one, and I didn't even need to ride it. I sat on Big Bob's up in Cody a couple of years ago and couldn't figure out where to put my knees, plus getting off the thing was a real chore. So for those of us that are horizontally challenged it doesn't fit. For those that are vertically challenged it's great!!....

It sounds like the first gear dog may be rounded off a bit. 'Nother question. When you down shift do you ease it into gear slowly, or aggressively?? -

Without trying to shift does it jump out of first when you pull in on the clutch lever, or jump out when rolling on and off the throttle?? If not you might adjust the toe position a little higher to give the toe a bit more room.... -

My '99RSV trunk had minor star cracks when I bought it. I wouldn't even had checked but another member posted about them. So I went ahead and bought the fix plates and sealed the cracks with IPS abs repair. The plates ran $5.00 bucks, and I already had the IPS ABS solvent. Unless the trunk is badly cracked this is a lot cheeper way to go.... http://www.weldon.com/solvent Here's a list of the parts needed to fix the problem. #88- PLATE 7 4XY-2846P-00-00 - $1.79 #89- PLATE,RUBBER 9 4XY-2849J-00-00 - $0.99 #90- PLATE, 8 4XY-2846R-00-00 - $1.76 #91- PLATE, RUBBER 11 4XY-2847T-00-00 - $0.99 -
Yes you did with that kind of milage on the ODO. However here's a 2006 on eBay that's about to close, out of Baton Rouge, that looks like a steal unless I missed something.... I'm suprised no one has popped for it yet?? Maybe just a sign of the times?? I would have if I hadn't already picked up Seven of Nine (2007) for $6000. eBay 2006

It might, if the holes match up to those that you mount the passenger seat to, still there is no adjustment in it's position. One size fits all is a myth.....

Be still my heart....!! I guess she got tired of playing second fiddle on Body of Proof?? I might need to change the license plate...

Between $7500 and $8000.

Dan, I can relate. Prayers spoken. Sometimes I wonder if these places are more interested in getting their co-pay than finding something. And you can stand up for your rights.... I had a herniated belly button that they kept blowing me off on, til I finally got in their face. Then they fixed it. Sometimes ya gotta shake the tree...

A lot of auction company's are starting to do this. Basically it's a method of jacking an absentee bid up. I don't like it, but I guess they think they're pulling a fast one. If it's close by I'd get a letter from the broker authorizing to bid on it in their name, and attend the live auction. Screw the prebid....

The design is much like all the rest of the hitchs available for the 2ndGen Venture. Since our Venture has finally been discontinued a lot of the larger dealers are starting to blow out accessories. So shop around. There are a couple of members who also make them. The installation is fairly straight foreward. Remove the crossmember on the frame and replace it with the hitch. 4 bolts and you're good to go. The wiring will take more time.

I'm taking a wild guess here, but if your original battery was only a month old, you have a huge short in the system...or you're rectifier is bad, or the stator isn't putting out.??? Have the dealer check the charging system. I bet you didn't need the fuel pump, and $310 bucks is way too much. $210 to $225 is more like it....
