  1. When a low ftlb torque is called for, I don't bother torquing them. Snug with a 1/4" rachet is close enough. I think it's anal torquing to 5.8ftlbs. I've never torqued clutch bolts yet, and have never had a problem....
  2. I run a Corbin on the '07, and have another waiting in the wings for the '99, and it works for me. However, did you know that the trunk can be moved back a few inches to give the passenger more room?? Also on the lower center of gravity. Compared to the OEM seat(s) the Corbin is much heavier. I just shipped a set of pillowtops to another member and they only weighed 7#'s total. The Corbin weighs 15+ pounds unpacked. Probably closer to 17 in the box. This will not lower the center of gravity on an RSV.. Unless the Corbin is a custom it will not let the rider sit any lower in the saddle... Hope this helps a bit.....
  3. Ditto on that.... I use Irish spring and haven't seen a critter in the shower yet.....
  4. I enjoy an ice cold beer, but only on a cruise ship out in the middle of the carribian somewhere, and I ain't driving.... It's bad enough listening to the daily commuter traffic reports, and hearing about another MC'ist down, and I'm sure they hadn't touched a brew at 7am. Drinking and riding and rationilizing about whether it safe or not, is like being a little bit pregnant. You either are or you're not.... I don't need any help being stupid....
  5. Welcome to the board. I've seen quite a few GTS's listed on CL over the years. Even a couple of them locally in NorCal. Always thought they were neat looking, and would have picked one up if I didn't already have a stable of VR's and RSV's. There is a GTS owners website and they do have a yearly gathering..... Do a google search. You'd think they were really rare, but not that rare.....
  6. If I remember correctly those bolts are torqued to 10ftlbs. Seriously doubt that they are deformed or stretched...
  7. 68230-97B CHROME LICENSE PLATE/LIGHT KIT 68230-97A CHROME LICENSE PLATE/LIGHT KIT 68230-97 CHROME LICENSE PLATE/LIGHT KIT 68230-88B CHROME LICENCE PLATE/LIGHT KIT 68230-88A CHROME LICENCE PLATE/LIGHT KIT I just found the other no's. it looks like the rounder style are the 88's
  8. Thanks Steve. I finally found a new one listed on eBay. Took a bunch of different searches to find it. However it looks like it might be a newer style. Not as rounded looking. Price was decent....
  9. Steve, what's the official name of that light assembly, and do you have a pic laying around you could post??
  10. As long as it's about 10/15 cents a mile it's OK. Ours used to run that about 5-6 years ago, but since then it's gotten rediculous.... Hmmmm?? Wonder where it's all going....???
  11. Thanks for the feedback.....
  12. Have you posted this HERE....
  13. Nice job. Sorta reminds me of something I saw at Arlen Ness.... Did you do the paint??
  14. Yep, great write up, but it didn't have the info I needed. I have the complete throttle assembly including the junction box. So my plan was to disconnect the ends from the grip control and remove it totally, and then feed the entire replacement around the front of the tree from the left hand side so I don't have to deal with the box. Although the article was interesting, I don't need to take the junction box apart. What I do need from someone is whether I can feed, with the end fittings around the tree to the other side and not hit any obsticals. Feeding just the cables only through from the right hand side probably was pretty easy since there's aren't any end fittings to deal with. Thanks for the link... BTW there is a link at the end of the writeup to a .doc file write up that is much better than the one that originally comes up. I was hoping that someone might have already been down this road, but I guess not?? So it's going to be a 'learn as you go'.....
  15. Yep, that's when I did it....
  16. So I went out and yelled YES at it and nothing happened. Please explain....
  17. I've never been in this area before so I thought I'd ask around. What do I need to do to replace the throttle cables on the RSV? Can I snake the replacement cables around the front of the tree, or do I have to remove the fairling and left lower to get to the cruise control, to install?? I already have this bike naked with no fuel tank and no carbs. Inquiring mind would appreaciate a little feedback....
  18. Very nice.... HD?? I thought I was looking at Blue Ray. 23"LED.
  19. Heck, I'd just go ahead and lap them....
  20. Are they white, fuzzy, an cold?? It might be the same problem my daughter was having this morning when she sent me this....
  21. Too many goofy things going on with it... Not for me...
  22. Independance is one thing. Empty wallets is another.....
  23. How ironic.... I just ran acrossed a used Voyager Kit for sale with the Royal Star adapter for a firm $2500 this morning. It actually has a choice of a couple of different adapters. I'm really thinking about making an offer anyway. It would go on the '99 for long range touring since it's already rigged. I'd keep Seven as a 2 wheeler for around town.
  24. Bob, those crash bars are easily reconfigured. Try bending it to fit the fairing, rather than trying to make the fairing fit the bar....
