  1. I've split a ton of oak and can't even imagine what it would have been like doing it with one of those things. I noticed some ads for a gas splitter that stores the energy in a flywheel and the wedge that is rammed along geared track. Touted as the fastest splitter in the west..... Interesting. Gets rid of the cost of the hydraulics...
  2. Patted mine on the A$$ as I walked by..... Just to let her know I haven't forgotten her... http://cast-aways.com/QUICKY/misspiggy.jpg
  3. Reminds me of another movie idol that died behind the wheel here in Ca. James Dean.
  4. It's a Royale, unless the P.O. went through the trouble of swapping out the plastic. In '83, the gold's were VR, and the Standard's were red. That said, it possibily might be from that first batch of '84 models that had '83 VINs. The way to tell is the choke lever. If it's an '84 model it will be rotating in front of the grip. The only year 'Y' did this....

Hope it serves you well.... I just picked up a new2me 2006 Titan LE. I'm sure yours is gonna get better gas mileage than mine.... Still learning what all the buttons do....
  6. This is just a wild a$$ guess, but are the header pipes stainless or chromed steel?? If they are SS you might have a case of Galvanic Corrosion going on with dis-similar metals. The 'Y' being one type and the tubes and brackets another.
  7. Congrats George!!
  8. You might try to locate a 2008 RSV tank in Charcoal Silver that might match your TD'09, or a 2009RSV in Candy Red/ Raven depending on which color bike you have. Either will come close enough that you won't have to paint. Color list is HERE. I just gave $300... included shipping... off eBay for another tank for my '99. Mint, in like new condition. We dickered. They were originally asking $350 plus shipping, but lets face it, business is slow. There are lots of tanks listed on eBay, but most are dinged or dented, and I can't believe the price these sellers have them listed for.... and they end up keeping them. Good luck in your search.
  9. Since it came off eBay I'm thinking a factory second???
  10. So I'm looking to go synthetic in my 2006 Titan with 73,000 miles on the odo. I'm going with Mobile One, but they make 3 different types. One's extended performance up to 15K between changes, and one's made for cars with over 75,000 on them with a few more trick additives tossed in for the seals etc., and the 3rd is a synthetic for newer cars. So which one do I need to pick up from Walmart tomorrow, considering the Titan is getting close to that 75K mark??? They're all the same price. Whatcha think...??
  11. Looking forward to it. Better than the alternative...... No problem George. Got Medicare and HMO. Nothings changed.....Yet!! Just call me Dino.... Sore... Yep, I go sit in my '92F250 Diesel and get a reality fix.... I leave the VCR to the kids... LOL.... No problem Rick... I get to visit my Dad that way....
  12. I needed another vehicle and thought I'd go after a crew cab Pickup, with a little creature comfort to it, toss a camper shell on it, and replace the Suburban and the F250 with one vehicle. So I found one. A new2me Nissan Titan LE, Crew cab, 2wd, auto tranny, and 5.6 V8. This thing has more options on it than known to God...and Nissan. There are so many buttons on the dash I had to go read the manual, and I still don't know what the 'H' is going on. It might even have a 'Eject' button?? What happened to the old days when everything was easy, and one could climb into a car, and in about 15 secs, have it down pat. Now it takes a Rocket Scientist, and I ain't one, and I'm feeling really old.....
  13. Let me know when you run across one with tires and no rust. I'll buy it and flip it locally. You've been out of the market around here for way too long Buddy....
  14. But I like the idea.... http://sacramento.craigslist.org/mcy/4194286767.html
  15. OK, I agree with the feedback.... However I just emailed Jerry Zimmerman down in Encino and he recommended Thousand Oaks Power Sports. http://www.thousandoakspowersports.com/map_hours.asp It's about 40 miles from you.... 'bout 45 minutes... Good Luck

  17. I think you're going to have to bite the bullet and pick up an OEM set. I found cracks around the rim in the set I now have on the '99. I know they are multi-layered but there is nothing up around the carb throat. The cracks showed up when the carbs were mounted, but after removing them the cracks disappeared unless a little 'squeeze' was applied. I'm not saying they leaked, but there's a good chance they did. So a used set will look great until you really check closely. I also got tough with my local Y dealer and he shot me a price less than any I found on the net.
  18. Yeow!! That's a lot of money for two wheels, a diamond plate bed, a gimbaled axel, and some miscellaneous. You can get a really nice used 2ndGen Venture for less..... And... I've seen some really nice Toy Hauler trailers for a little bit more..... Than there's always one of these...... :mo money::mo money:
  19. Saw this posted to another board and thought it was something to be shared here as well. [ame=http://vimeo.com/64726512]How To Turn A Beer Can Into The Only Camping Stove You'll Ever Need on Vimeo[/ame]
  20. I went thru the same thing in 2011, and you have all my sympathy... Ditto on the hospitals...
  21. I'm thinking probably nothing. Since the radio is located back under the trunk it probably just has a cable... been there..can't remember.... and just unplug it. As far as affecting the rest of the system?? Give it a try and see if everything still works. Why would you want to remove the CB in the first place??
  22. Maybe I made a mistake by referring the TD as a 'boulevard cruiser'. Bad choice of words, and maybe I should have used 'Weekend Cruiser' instead. Boulevard has more of a local street stop light to stop light connotation. I still think the RSV makes a better long range bike, offering greater comfort and protection to the rider....
  23. I'm still don't sure I follow the reasoning for doing this in the first place unless the plan is to pull something BIG?? If it's just to get a regular MC trailer tongue weight off the bike it's an awful lot of work to remove 30-35#'s. Albeit, discussing the engineering aspects is fun....
