  1. Yeow!! That's a lot of money for two wheels, a diamond plate bed, a gimbaled axel, and some miscellaneous. You can get a really nice used 2ndGen Venture for less..... And... I've seen some really nice Toy Hauler trailers for a little bit more..... Than there's always one of these...... :mo money::mo money:
  2. Saw this posted to another board and thought it was something to be shared here as well. [ame=http://vimeo.com/64726512]How To Turn A Beer Can Into The Only Camping Stove You'll Ever Need on Vimeo[/ame]
  3. I went thru the same thing in 2011, and you have all my sympathy... Ditto on the hospitals...
  4. I'm thinking probably nothing. Since the radio is located back under the trunk it probably just has a cable... been there..can't remember.... and just unplug it. As far as affecting the rest of the system?? Give it a try and see if everything still works. Why would you want to remove the CB in the first place??
  5. Maybe I made a mistake by referring the TD as a 'boulevard cruiser'. Bad choice of words, and maybe I should have used 'Weekend Cruiser' instead. Boulevard has more of a local street stop light to stop light connotation. I still think the RSV makes a better long range bike, offering greater comfort and protection to the rider....
  6. I'm still don't sure I follow the reasoning for doing this in the first place unless the plan is to pull something BIG?? If it's just to get a regular MC trailer tongue weight off the bike it's an awful lot of work to remove 30-35#'s. Albeit, discussing the engineering aspects is fun....
  7. Don't ya just love those neighbors that plant their trees right on their property line without regards to what's going to happen years down the road. Not all that bad when they're saplings, but when they end up 40-50 feet tall and shed leaves and... in my case...those dam Liquid Amber sticker balls by the ton, they become a pain in the A$$. I hate raking someone else's leaves...and don't even bring up those balls.. I finally got the guy to cut down the three trees in the front yard, but I still have one of them in the back. I also have some sort of Japanese Maple on his side, right next to my office, and the thing ended up covering part of the office roof and the eaves of my house. Filled up the gutters every year. I finally invested in one of those pole pruners with the chainsaw on the end. The Maple now ends at his fence line... Sorry for the rant, but your post got me going...
  8. One of the things I like about the DEKA is they have the same foot print as the OEM. The Odysseys have to be padded. Also the DEKA is rated a bit higher than Odyssey's. And... very importantly... the DEKA are a better buy. :mo money:That said I still have a couple of Odyssey's sitting in the corner of the office. Charge them once a year. Takes about 15 minutes to top them off.
  9. My wife and I did a Caribbean cruise aboard NCL about 10 years ago, and we did Roatan and Cancun as well. Anyone going on this trip is going to have a great time. One of the few times I could drink, and not have to worry about driving...
  10. Another thought... might be your side stand could be bumping the kill switch??
  11. No debate about it... If it's what you want and fits your likes and taste, go for it....
  12. You're gonna love that '07, but I think it's just a matter of taste and life style. The TD is more of a boulevard cruiser. The RSV is more an interstate cruiser.
  13. I'm sure you already have, but I gotta ask. What is the VDC at the batt terminals when the bike is running over 2,000RPM? Should be 14.2-14.4vdc. Also there are AGM's and then there are AGM's.... DEKA seems to be the batt of choice for many Venture riders. Good quality 'Made in the USA' battery. With proper maintenance it should last 5+ years.
  14. I lusted after an '83VR when they first came out, and it took me 22 years before I finally got one in 2005. So I'm just a nu-b. The combined mileage, on all the V4's I now own, comes to 524,000, but who's counting...
  15. There's only a couple of members who have the need for speed. Beyond a little tinkering like the Jason Mod and exhaust/jetting, the majority of us are satisfied with the performance of the Venture as it sits. For the small stuff there are some good articles in the tech section covering most...if not all of them. Hence the non-response by many.
  16. I think it was back in High School. When you bought your tickets early for the Senior Prom you got a discount....
  17. You go girl !!!!!
  18. Well said for the most part Bob, but this part is what I'm talking about. It seems like lately they aren't getting replaced. I usually log on in the early AM and there always was 50 + posts to scan through over the years. For the last year or so that number has been dwindling. This morning.. 19 new posts. I get surprised when it gets above 25. Same thing in the evening...
  19. Locally we have a company, Blue Diamond Almonds, and their slogan is..."A can a day is all we ask". Maybe we should make ours " A post a day that's all we ask". How long does it take to type something???
  20. Where did you go on your last long weekend ride on the bike.?? Any pics??
  21. I really don't care, and if that's what Don want's to do, it's his board. But..... I've been supplying fork braces to the members only for about 4-5 years now, and still will if anyone want's me to. The price has been very competitive as I don't make anything on them, and if Super Brace want's to offer the same pricing as a courtesy to our 1stGen'rs then I don't see why I'd have reason to continue. BTW: I still have 2 braces left from the last batch. The ad is in classifieds under 1stGen parts.
  22. I'm with Randy on this one. I run E3's on both of my 2ndGens and they are rock steady.
  23. Most of the old crew have moved on. Site needs to be named the 'Biker Blog'.....
  24. Hope everything goes without a hitch Larry.... Can you hear me now????
