  1. Heck, I'd ask for a raise.... At least it'll give you an idea of what their plans are for the future.... The older you get the harder it'll be finding something else...?? That said by a guy that hasn't punched a time card or worked for anyone in 30 years... I love my boss!!
  2. Sometimes adjusting the idle screws will cure the popping on decel. They may be running lean. Try 3 turns out. Also are the mufflers stock or aftermarket.??
  3. Just a thought.... This all started when the battery was replaced. Yes?? Were any washers or extra power leads placed between the battery anode and the cable ends? Even a batt tender lead?? This will drop the batt amp flow down to were the starter won't even turn over. With the key in run check for dim headlight.... Could also be a bad starter solenoid???
  4. Oh Dan I'm so sorry....... NOT!! Don't worry there'll be another set along any time now. There always is....
  5. Yep, the original packing is probably gone. That's why when a few miles are put on them they'll start getting louder. The packing they use is spun glass, and the exhaust temps will slowly make the stuff brittle and break, slowly disappearing over time. I use ceramic packing and so far after 6,000 miles I can't notice any difference in the sound. The ceramic will stand a much higher temp before breaking down. As far as hurting the scoot...nope!!
  6. I bought the set I now have on the '99 from a board member who thought they were too loud, plus the tips were flaking. Turned out there wasn't a bit of packing in the baffles. Rebuilt/repacked them and they now have a very nice sound. Mellow burple at idle and a medium rumble when under load. No one has delegated me to the back of the pack yet.... Now if I could only locate a set of turndown tips for the set I just picked up from Juggler I'd be a happy camper....
  7. Grant grazing rights to a goat herder......
  8. No..no..no...... Go ahead and send it to someone who needs it... I'm burning digital nowadays... And the 'pantry' is full of 1stGen parts... And youse guys thought it was just the garage.... :rotf:
  9. Progressive might be an option, but I just remembered that I have a mint set of chrome shocks off a Harley somewhere in the garage. Saw them a couple of days ago.... I'll have to see if they'll come close. If I remember they're 13.5" with adjustable coils....
  10. Been trying to get hold of Bub Mufflers, and yesterday their website was non-op. Today their site is working but their phones and email have been disconnected. I sure hope they haven't gone belly up.
  11. Rick isn't that far off. With this drought we're in, NorCal is about to be blown away. My back yard looks like something out of the middle of Nevada. Water?? What's that...?? I went by Lake Shasta on the way back from The Dalles and it's empty. Our local water supply is just as bad, and we still have 2 1/2 months left before there's even a chance of rain. And the next time you're in town visiting Kinfolk I'll show you where to find the best burger known to the Almighty... I figure there's two types of burgers in this world. One is cheap and you eat it because you're starving and quit when you're full. The other is God food. Manna from Heaven.. Because it tastes so good, you can't stop eating... http://www.flaminggrillcafe.com/
  12. Years ago... We used to do that by putting a spark plug in the tips. It does give one an appreciation for just how much fuel we DON"T burn.....
  13. Gotta agree with you Puc. Beautiful scoot. If I were ever inclined to own a TD it'd hafta be this one. Heck I'd even put up with the mouse motor.....
  14. Ran into the same problem with the Voyager Kit on the '04. Called the factory to find out what the part # and who the maker was in order to buy them locally... hey they're just shocks... and was told they were made for some old truck, and were only made by Gabriel especially for the Voyager Co. By now youda thought they could come up with a more current style.... I'll probably take one off and run down to the local auto parts store and start comparing. I wonder if they make a small gas strut that would fit??? Hmmmm.....
  15. I could see the digital writing on the wall and dumped my darkroom equipment while it still had some value. Whew!! Now I have a pantry....
  16. Higher fence???
  17. Same thing happened with the Cycle Pro tach I mounted on the '99. In my case I failed to throw the right dip switches on the back of the PC board. So I just 2x the reading until I need to get back in there for something else. Then I'll start experimenting....
  18. That explains it...
  19. The biggest market would be eBay. If you've been kicked off just create a new eMail address with another handle. Create another Paypal with another bank account. Some folks have 3 or 4 seller accounts. It's not all that hard to do... Another thought would be to contact Wheels of Time... I think in Connecticut?? They may be interested. Also there's a guy on the Delphi Board that deals in used parts. http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/main.asp?webtag=star4sale&nav=start&prettyurl=%2Fstar4sale&gid=1890699925
  20. With all the 1stGens I have around here I go through a lot of covers, and an XXL will fit fine. MOF the XXL will fit both the 1st and 2nd Gens. Don't get caught in a windstorm with that XXX... That eBay listing is from down under and it'll cost more to ship than the $19 bucks. Just hope it's what they say it is. I go through a lot of that type, and 2 months in the sun and they're toast. I use them as sacrificial covers over the more expensive type. However that said, if the bike is kept in the garage out of the weather they do make a nice dust cover, or something for the motel parking lot... The best bang for the buck I've found so far is the BIKE cover from Cycle Gear. Seems to be always on sale for $50. What makes it so great is their 5 year warrantee. Over the counter replacement. So if it decides to start leaking, take it back and get a new one.... No questions asked.
  21. Hey Larry- How much are the arm rests going for these days?? I tried to look them up in your vendor listings but couldn't find an ad....
  22. One of the Star Riders who attended the VW14 'The Dalles' had his '07 triked last year, and the total for the Hannigan was $11,800. He had to take it to Salt Lake City to have it installed, but from what I gather he paid Hannigan directly, and they dealt with the 'official' installer. By the way he loved it, and I gotta admit it did look great. Attached is a pic of his sitting next to my '07. Sorta a before and after....
  23. I have a 5x10 trailer with a ramp gate, and the RSV fits on it very comfortably. Anything shorter and it get's iffy.... BTW I just put one of those Harbor Freight chocks that's a copy of the 'Condor' chock in steel instead of aluminum. It's the best thing since sliced bread. Ride it on and into the chock and get off. No having to hold it upright while fiddling with the tie downs. http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_24675.jpg
  24. I know nothing about the rear shock.... so far.., but wonder?? Can the mono shock off a 1stGen fit a 2ndGen? The first gen shock never seems to fail, and they can be found cheap on the net. It would save folks a bunch of $ if they could be used... Another thing is the 1st will pump up to 71psi while in the manual I think the 2nd is recommended to be max at 45psi. Just curious??
