  1. There's another video of this bike out there somewhere where he picks up a 'Babe' hitchhiker. It either gets great mileage or has a huge tank....
  2. Just for the heck of it, check to see if you don't have a rusted tank. There's a lot of variables that could cause your symptoms, but the color of the fuel makes me think it's the tank. Could be when you ran the Sea Foam it liquefied the crud that had collected in the bottom of the tank and it's on the move... Rust will get thru the filter and make it into the carbs. Pull the fuel line off the petcock and put it on reserve and see what comes out....
  3. The K&N's have a lifetime warrantee. I had one do the same thing, called them, and they sent me a new replacement... por nada...
  4. Looks like a Voyager Kit with some real nice wheel dressing....
  5. OK here's the deal. I hope it's just a sign of old age...... and not something more serious.. May all your tests today turn out negative...
  6. I find that very odd that it has to be in mint OEM condition before you can register it as a collectable. Requiring a bike to be older?? Yes... What happens when a Harley collector brings in a 1908 rust bucket?? They have a collector plate, here in CA ,but when registered can only be riden to and from 'Events'. Swaps, shows, parades, etc. I thought it would be neat to have plates for my '83VR but decided against it because of the restrictions...
  7. I wonder if that's all tire manufacture hype?? Kinda like helmet hype about replacing them over 5 years old.... Helps sell tires and helmets?? I rode a rear EII that was on the '83VR to Ft Collins and back, and it was at least 15 years old. I thought about replacing it before the trip because the tread looked a little thin, but after posting pics here on the board the general consensus was Run 'Em... The front had an Avon Venom, and it also did fine...this time... These MC tires are built to take a beating, and I don't think a few years storage, even with a 5+ date, is going to hurt them any.
  8. Beautiful area. Used to work for Ithaca Gun Co. back in the '70's. Always enjoyed attending sales meetings there during the fall....
  9. I'm not going to name names, and I ain't gonna tell ya how I know about the plugged hole, and spending lots of money rebuilding the entire clutch... And I can't claim the wire tie trick. Klaus down in Vegas came up with that.. I'm just saying it doesn't take much to check it out, and maybe save a bunch of money.... Another way to tell if the hole is open is remove the reserve cover and gently squeeze the lever. If it's OK you'll see a deformation of the fluid surface as it squirts thru the hole. If the hole is open then it's time to start looking at other things....

Thanks Joe, but most of us here on the west coast don't take notice until they hit 7.0+ which would be twice as strong as a 6. I remember one year my wife and I, on the way back from a family wedding in LA, stopped for the night at a motel down around Bakersfield. I woke up in the middle of the night with the hanging lamp in the room swaying big time. Open up the door to see what was going on and a tidal wave from the pool was heading right at me. Slammed the door just before it hit the wall. Turned out to be the big Tahachapi Quake with the epicenter about 12 miles away. Wife slept thru the whole thing...
  11. Woke up at 3am and could go back to sleep. Now I find that we had a 6.1 quake about 60 miles west of Sacramento in American Canyon area. I-80 runs right through the center and I've gone thru is 1000's of times over the years. One thing I've noticed is that there is a fault line that runs right across the freeway and sinks every so often and needs to be repaired or it's like hitting a gully. I guess it finally sunk a bunch.... http://quakes.globalincidentmap.com/
  12. Well that was interesting..... Wonder what something like that is going to cost.....
  13. WHEW!! I'd take a vacation and go to Vegas.....
  14. A plugged expansion relief hole will cause a clutch to start slipping in 5th gear under load, and continue to get worse as the clutch fluid continues to heat up. Before doing anything else take a piece of wire from one of those wire ties you find in market produce sections. Strip the cover off and run it through the hole....which is located in the bottom of the reserve... If that doesn't cure the problem then go to plan B. PS... Listing your bike make and model under your screen name will help a bunch, and keep us from having to go to your profile..
  15. Sounds great, but too far east for this old man......
  16. OK, after re-reading your statement several times, I finally deciphered it, and see what you mean. It's almost like a double negative. By failing miserably as a 'beginner' website editor you mean it's more advanced in comparison to some of the plug and plays available today.
  17. When drilling the caps, remember they are very thin and it doesn't take much. After drilling a hole with an 1/8" bit, the best thing to use to remove them is a small wood screw. Screw it into the hole until it bites. Then take a pair of pliers and pull the cap off....
  18. Back in the early 60's we had a local business, in Alhambra, Ca., that turned wood products. Table legs, model airplane wheels, etc... They would buy cheap hardwood and cut the checks, splits, and knots out and toss them. We'd go over and fill the bed of the pickup with wood to burn in the fireplace. Great stuff, and a bed full would last us about a month... Hey it was L.A./SoCal....
  19. In defense of Front Page, I started out building my website using HTML coding. It was a struggle, but I actually did get a few pages up and running. My next door neighbor who worked for Intel came over one evening and gave me a copy of something new from Microsoft to try out. It was Front Page 98, and it was a hell of a lot better than writing code...most of which I've now forgotten. So FP is what I built my business website with. Nothing fancy, but got the job done, and I controlled the site, and did not have to go through a second party every time I wanted to make a change, and it's very easy to use, and I could up date the website anytime I wanted. I've received compliments from visitors on how much they enjoyed the site, and how easy it was navigate as well. I think the last version is FP2003. And you know what? It's still doing just fine. MOF a lot of the registration forms for the various Internationals and Venture Wests were built using FP2003. So to say it failed miserably might be a little strong. Sure it doesn't have any skyrockets and fancy tricks, but it's still a good solid editor and it suits me just fine.
  20. Didn't we just have one in Kitchner a few years back?? Not sure of the year. Will have to go find a T-Shirt.....
  21. This is the one I've been using for the last 20 years.... http://nic.com/ You can search for names you might like, and they'll let you know if it's been taken. Your also going to need your website hosted. Probably the ISP you have now will do it, although it pays to shop around. Size plays a lot into the costs. FORD pays a ton.... me? I'm a pipsquick... There are also places where you can make your own website, but if you'd like to get carried away I've been using MS Front Page since I started... IT's a wyswyg editor and is easy for the basics. Good Luck....
  22. :icon_lurker:
  23. Maybe it's time to do another?? Give it some time....
  24. Now these are some great suggestions.....er....chatter.... Ya know, after looking at the map, for me personally, Montrose would be kinda cool. I've always wanted to ride that section of Hwy50 between Fallon Nev., and Ely NV, Americas Loneliest Hwy, and it's right on the way. 2Days and 1000 miles. Head east a thou and there's a lot of members in that circle. There would be a lot of members left out on the east coast, but join the club..... Maybe it's time to start a Venture East....
