  1. Thanks Dion. That's what happens with TMI. My brain starts to reject..... I also don't like to read things twice... I'm surprised George is having so much trouble locating the problem. He's a pretty savey guy....
  2. I scanned through your story, and might have missed it George, but did you replace the Mass Flow Sensor. They're very touchy, and can be damaged very easily. 1998 Suburban w/Vortec V8. 200,000 miles.
  3. Just remembered... Back in ancient times I had a switch installed in the ignition wiring between the seat and the tank of my Ariel Square Four. No one knew it was there. That was back in the days when a screw driver could substitute for an ignition key on most UK bikes. Plus you could always chain the bike to a carport post on the new house....?? Or build a garage....
  4. Definitely not an ATGATT kinda guy... More like an organ donor..... Cool econo-rail tho... Wonder if that was a fuely class??
  5. The way I look at it is, if you can't buy it for cash you can't afford it.... I paid less for my house...
  6. Yes it will. I did use it when installing a Voyager trike kit free standing, but when I tried to take the bike off, it slid along with the scoot. So I'd suggest mounting it to half a sheet of plywood. That way you can plant your feet and pull, and the chock will stay put... The RSV front tire doesn't sit all the way down into the 'valley', but it is solid. Actually it pro'bly would be harder to back off if it was lower...??
  7. I don't know what the Victory's have, but the RSV's have a double lock. One on the ignition, and the other on the side of the tree where you can put a pad lock. At 900lbs it'd be kinda difficult to move it with out some sort of crane.... That said, ever since they stole my tow behind I've been looking at tracking devices. Something that can be tracked on the net or smart phone. Haven't found anything that I can afford yet, but one of these days??
  8. When trailering my RSV's I don't get carried away with strap placement any longer. I picked up one of these from Harbor Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/motorcycle-standwheel-chock-61670.html and permanently mounted it to the floor of the trailer. It keeps the bike upright. Ride on to it and get off. No screwing around, no side stand. I use one long strap from right above the front fender to the trailer rail, do a tug boat hitch on the rail, and then run it back to the saddle bag crash guard, do another tug boat on the guard, and then over to the trailer top rail again with a third tug... Takes a matter of a few minutes to do both sides. The bike rides without compression to any of the shocks, and the bike rides rock solid.... I've trailered both 1st and 2ndGens over the years, and that HF ride on chock is the best thing since sliced bread.... It's a steel copy of the 'Condor Chock' (no relation) at about a 5th of the price...
  9. I never heard about the road either Puc...and it's in my back yard. But.... after Googling it, it looks like a great ride. Gonna put it on my bucket list. After playing with Google Maps a bit it looks like a great weekender. Overnighting in Ft Bragg and back to Sac via Clear Lake.... Thanks for bringing it up... http://www.motorcycleroads.com/75/1306/California/Skaggs-Spring-Rd.html If I remember correctly my wife and I had lunch in Stewarts Point while running up Hwy 1 way back when....
  10. ME too Dan... Vic 'Lone Eagle' is the Pres of the Contra Costa chapter, and I've given it some thought, but it's too far away. The local Sacramento chapter has some pretty strict rules on do's and don't's, so they're out too. Too independent I guess.. ??
  11. I'm on the Indian email list and every time I look at that bagger I dream and stare. They're running a few specials on the 2014 right now to make room for the 2015's. Here's the link . $27000 smackeroos... Wonder if they'd take a bunch of Ventures in trade...
  12. Yep, good memory Steve... And I picked up one of your plug and play light bars too... , but alas I haven't installed anything yet. Since my wife passed my 'Honey Do's' are worse than ever.... I think she's getting even....
  13. Interesting. Did you have to run the wiring thru a 5 to 4 isolator/convertor??
  14. If you're talking about this one, I didn't make it all the way through.
  15. Depending on where you are, you might try contacting a local dealer. They might be better versed on dealing with the problem. The warrantee is good with any Y dealer.
  16. First off, I'm not doing the brace any longer due to the demand slowing way down, and the quantity I had to buy to keep them available meant they sat for long times. Secondly, the eBay brace looks pretty good, and the price is very close to what I had to charge to our members. For $71 bucks at your doorstep compared to others on the market, it's a deal..... The only difference I can see is the fender curve being duplicated on the top of the brace. This brings up the question, are they cast or machined. Our brace was CNC Machined and held to very exacting tolerance's. Still a nice touch. Fitment depends on how accurate tolerances are held during manufacture. Strength depends on the grade of aluminum used. Performance wise, with a set of Progressives and a brace there's a big difference in handling. Carving curves is almost surgical....
  17. Just thinking here, but at 11,000 feet elevation there ain't a whole lot of oxygen so you're actually running rich, and unburned fuel is igniting in the exhaust. It might also be because your jets are one size too rich to keep the head temps down.?? OK in the lower altitudes, but not good higher up. We used to always lean out the jets on cars to get them to run better at altitude. If you're blowing black smoke at 11000ft that's a good indication of unburned fuel. Tell the dealer... maybe they'll re-jet under warrantee??
  18. I'd think so. Here's a pic of my '91 and it's a stock reflector. I think the aftermarkets put the end caps in amber as running lights. They didn't need to do that on this '91 since it looks like a Christmas tree when lit up.
  19. Now that's funny....... BTW... Tippy!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. The first gens are 50 lbs. I imagine the 2nds are as well...
  21. Figured I'd go up to $1,000 on the Indian. Think I have a better chance than passed gas in a windstorm?? Get on that bike a ride Puc. I'm sure we can talk Rick into doing ice cream. Then I can introduce you to a real hamburger at the Flaming Grill.... It's a weekend hoop-a-la that starts Friday and goes thru the auction at 10am Saturday.
  22. There is a difference between the MKI 83-84, and the 85?.. MKII 86-93. Don't know which MK the '85 trunk falls under... ?
  23. One of our local auction companies has a yearly car auction down in Lodi... Yep kinda stuck there... Anyway some of you might find something interesting to buy...or at least talk about... The place is about 30 miles south of me, and I can pick up and store...for a little while if you get carried away. Some of the stuff is pretty mundane, but there are some gems in there. Nice bit of entertainment... http://huisman.marknetlive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/5732/
  24. I agree with Puc and Dave. I bought my '99 w/47K back in 2010 for $4100, and it had a ton of bling on it. All it needed were tires. I picked up my '07 last year from Pop Pop for $6000 w/88K as a favor... it needed a new fuel pump quickly, and just recently I picked up a synthetic '04 Midnight for $3,000 w/65K. All of them were in excellent condition. Asking close to $5,000 for a '99 today,in this economy, is stretching it.
