  1. So I've been lurking around here for a while , and got to wondering with a member number of 224, just how many are left that have one that's lower?? 'Cept Don with #1 of course... :-) I used to be in the high 100's before the crash of '06, but stubbed my toe re-registering....
  2. I love these 'What If' threads... For a touring scoot, with towing capacity, it needs low end grunt along with a dose of HP. Here's my fantasy motor. Take that 1700cc V-Max, and make it a water cooled V-6. If BMW can stuff an inline 6 into the 1200LT chassis, and not have it hang out like the old CBX, Yamaha can add two more cylinders to a V-4 and no one would even notice.. That 1700c would grow to 2550cc with a ton of grunt. Fuel inject it, and it becomes the panacea of touring bikes... Anyone remember the Triumph 2400cc triple?? Put it in an RSV and also offer it in a Sport model based on the older VR's... With a trunk!! That Indian is getting close but it ain't there yet...
  3. Maybe?? that also includes the truck and trailer?????? If it doesn't...it should... :-)
  4. They will work with the RSV. That bend sits right at the bottom edge of the RSV dash and then goes vertical... So they raise the grips and keep them forward and off your lap.. That's especially important for those of us that are the large economy size.. Just because they are listed as fitting Harley doesn't mean they won't fit anything else... Again.. http://www.khromewerks.com/shop/detail/300200
  5. The R1/6's are 100mm mounts, that's why the mark 1's at 88mm will need the forks replaced as well. I did the swap on my '83 and the braking was awesome..... Specially riding her over Bear Tooth Pass in Montana/Wyoming...
  6. PM'd you but I'll add a little here.. R1-R6 Either gold or blue dot will work.... '86 thru 2ndGen
  7. Yep, but look at it this way. You're only going to do it one time.... then relocate it.. It is a PITA.... However if it looks clear I wouldn't mess with it.. My '07 has 86K on it and it's still running the unmodified OEM..
  8. Nice video series Gramps.... Now if I ever need to adjust the valve lash on a Yerf Dog??? :-) ...
  9. What an amazing place!! I did watch your video when you first posted and just now getting around to commenting... Welcome back BTW... :-) During your tour I kept looking for an aerial camera and didn't see anything. Then finally during one of your video pans I caught the glimpse of one on a display shelf... And here I was gonna brag that I had something that they didn't.... Theirs was more modern, but a camera none the less. Mine was converted into a lamp by the previous owner.. A 4x5 K-20 Army Air Corp model. I've owned it for 35 years, and every once in a while think about listing it on Craigslist... but it never happens. I never served... too tall etc., but married an Air Force Brat from an AF Family. Father in Law and both Bro in Laws served from WWII to Desert Storm. With two of them being 'lifers'.. MOF My oldest B-i-L's MOS was munitions and had quite a life. Full Bird Colonel Ret. Back when I worked for the Gun Co. I was driving South on Hwy395 just north of Reno. While going by Herlong Ammo Depot I had the pleasure of watching them blow up expired ordinance off against the mountains that flanked the depot to the east.. It was an incredible sight... Some of those baby's were huge!! A lot of folks don't know it, but inside the army base there is actually an AFB training facility where they build bombs. My wife and I were guests at one of the graduating cermonies where my BiL gave the graduating speach. It was kinda cool. He started off with a cheer.. Gimme a 'A'.. Gimme an 'M'.. Gimme another 'M', Gimme an 'O'.. What does it spell?? AMMO!! If you ain't got AMMO... you ain't got shlt... You can emagine a room full of 60 men giving it their all... Needless to say it was humorous and inspiring... :-) Some of those men might have built some of that ordinance in Keyenta... Again I really enjoyed the video... One thing... We need to get you a mono-pod... :-)
  10. Good idea Don. Not riding any longer.. A little thing like old age has finally taken it's toll. Still enjoy reading and keeping up with the VR haps... All the Best... Condor
  11. There were a couple of them on their list that went for way over a mill.... I can't even wrap my head around that sort of money...or the folks that have it... I guess for some it's just pocket change... Remember it takes two or more bidders to run the price up... and for a lot of them it's just an ego thing, not the item... I've seen auctions turn into pissing contests...
  12. That's why I like those Spaghetti Westerns so much.... All of them cost more than my house... and in a few cases more than the whole block is worth.... Spaghetti's are cheap... I did run into a couple of unusual black powder repro's last month. An 1847 Walker Colt 1st Ed., and an 1851 Colt Navy. Bought them from an auction house close to where my daughter lives down on the central coast. I paid for them and they picked them up and brought them up the last time they visited. So it was a sight unseen purchase. When I finally got to look at them they didn't have anything engraved on the barrels or receivers other than a very light proof mark NP which is Italian for black powder. No maker... no nuttin'.... I wonder if they might have been movie props?? Beautiful guns.... and a heck of a lot cheaper than the real thing... and probably a lot better made...
  13. So I follow Rock Island Auctions and just received this link to some of their very expensive firearms. It's entertaining to say the least with a lot of 'YA GOTTA BE KIDDING ME'.. Rock Island Auction
  14. Good to have you back big guy.... Getting any bike time in with the Parkinson??
  15. OK It's been 2 weeks since the Pucster has posted anything in the forum. Not like him. I'm getting worried... I sent him an email last week and so far no reply?? Now if I find out he's down in Wilton..The land of no cell phone coverage and GK's... eating Butter Pecan ice cream without calling me I'm really going to be disappointed.... :-(
  16. Hey Chuck.... If your talking about the spring loaded magazine rod #53 in the pic below you might try http://www.winchesterguns.com/support/parts-and-service/obsolete-parts-and-service.html. Those 275's are getting very collectable and finding a used part could be tuff..... I'm also wondering if one from a different model could be modified?? Or?? https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/396960B
  17. OK I take it all back.....Sorry Jim.. So who can I congratulate???:think:
  18. For you riders that are requesting pics if you scroll up to the start of this thread they are already posted.....
  19. Congratulations Jim. Keep us posted on what you needed to do to make it yours,,,,
  20. Your absolutely right if you try to ride it like that two wheeler you've been riding for the last 40 years. It'll fight you every inch of the way, and old habits are hard to break sometimes. Instead of leaning to the left to go left, you lean to the right to go left.... More so at lower speeds and harder cornering. One of the things I did when going from a two to a three is while just sitting in the saddle I lean in both directions a couple of times... Tells my well trained 2 wheel brain that I'm not gonna fall over and go boom....... :-) It also makes it easier to push the bar instead of pulling....
  21. Or $11,501.... Ya never know?? I was watching a Sports Afield 18 gun fire safe on a local online auction, and the bidding sat at $200 bucks all week. So the thing is about to close and and I'm about ready to hit the sack, and it's still sitting at 200. So I placed a bid of $200.25 and got the dang thing... It was the same size as one of my gun cabinets so sold the cabinet for $80 bucks... $120...Not bad for a 18 gun fire safe...
  22. I flew into Victoria way back on the way to Yokum... So I know where your at... :-) Never been to S.Dak, but you have a safe trip...
  23. I agree with the lazy boys for the big guy, and I've gone thru a few over the years. But I picked up a Home Stretch recliner in an auction in early summer and it's the best one buy far. Got it NIB and it's motorized. It isn't one of those that stands you up... I can still do that thank you... but it reclines under power to any degree wanted, and has power lumbar support and power head rest... Let me tell you it's kick a$$... No more pushing pillows around to get comfortable.. You might take a look... https://www.homestretchfurniture.com/
  24. Yep. They used to run around $25.00 a set. Not very hard to replace.... Guess they still do... https://www.amazon.com/Supply-Universal-Point-Switch-18-4615/dp/B0034ZMVKU
  25. Good joke.... I've only had one run in with a game warden... I was fishing for Steel Head on the upper Sacramento River with a buddy after work one late afternoon, and wasn't wearing the waders etc. and bare foot. And we had to climb down a bluff to get to the river. Anyway this game warden stood at the top of the bluff and asked to see our fishing licenses. My friend held up his and I had left mine in the car cause I didn't want the wallet to get wet. The guy insisted I show him the license. So I had to climb bare foot back up the bluff and get it out of the car. He asked to see it and I told him I'll show it to him down by the river, and if he needs to check it climb down the bluff, and headed back down... He just walked away... Lazy bass turd...
