LOL..... I'll take your word for it as it's back in the box and stowed away again. And NFS, I'll find something to slap it on around here somewhere.... Maybe the '87??? -

OK Guys. Please forgive me. It's funny how old age will play tricks with the gray matter. I just went out to look at the light bar again and found that I hadn't even opened the box. So went ahead and took a look. The bar I have is a Show Chrome, and is in one piece. At least I got that right... But it does have the amber wrap around tips.. My apologies for stiring things up.... -

OK, so let me get this straight... The links to the lenses, that Camos posted, are for the TRUNK?? Made by BigBikeBandits.... Yes?? I don't think I compared them to OEM, but with the pic, maybe I did?? It's just that they look so much like the reflectors above the saddle bag/bumper bling... And the lighted TRUNK relector I bought from BBB many moons ago was a one piece on a close out... Wish I'd bought them all, but at the time all I owned was one VR... -

I'm a little confused?? If you're looking for trunk lenses, I don't think this is what you're linked to... The trunk reflector is one piece. At least it is on my '91. The lower reflectors are 3 pieces. Here's a pic of my '91. Wish my front lawn looked like that now.... -
Heck, if he wants to pay you with Paypal and pick up the 3% PP fees, I think I'd give him a chance. Just make sure the money is in your account and then transferred to your bank. 'Course he'll probably come back with the excuse that he's having trouble with Paypal and would like to transfer to your bank account directly..... then it's time to dump him. Also if you have his... or hers... email address or name, do a Google search on both. For some reason scam artists never seem to be smart enough to change their ID. Even when there are scam reports on them all over the net....

Gotta question... Why do quite a few feel the need to compress the forks while towing their bike???
-
Thanks Les, I guess Kev doesn't need them after all, so I'll take them... It'll save me the hassle of making up a set. Let me know what you need for them and I'll 'gift' you a Paypal. Jack

Thanks, however I'd be surprised if he didn't.... They do look simple enough to make out of 1/2" aluminum round stock...

Here's one for y'all. A new 1stGen with the 1700 V-Max motor, FI, LCD dash, digital audio system w/Bluetooth , V-Max final, LED's all around, pillow top saddle, Progressives ....

You might want to post condition and prices on what you have for sale..... Pics would help too....

Good idea... I have the same problem as Kevin with the antenna hitting the aftermarket lights when laying it down to put the cover on. Sometimes I can be real dense...

The problem you're going to run into is they aren't making the stand for the RSV any longer. Unless they've changed their mind, or still have a few left over from a special prepaid run of 20 that they offered, that took a long time to fill... What happened is they needed 20 RSV owners to commit before they'd start building them, and they would cost $400 bucks plus shipping. Now if they didn't quite fill the order and had a couple left over, you'd be the benefactor of others stepping up to the plate. I was one of them. And you'll save 50 bucks to boot... The reason I bit the bullet is I already have one on my '99, and liked it a lot, and wanted to put one on the '07. One thing you'll need to keep in mind is that if you plan on lifting the bike with a jack and adapter it won't work, the stand is in the way. However if you're lucky enough to own a table, it's not a problem...

OK Brian, I just got thru installing the new set of points. It took about 15mins. Fit perfect. BTW, I will be keeping the original set as they looked pretty good, but just wanted to make sure they'd swap out. Attached are some pics. The last one shows the label with the part number, and I might add that both the eBay set and the Amazon set were the same part. So if anyone wants a spare set these look like the answer. However.... until I can plug one in to see if it works it's not an absolute. Would I order a set again?? Yes.

I just compared the new set to the set on an old fuel pump , and they look the same to me?? I'll get into it a little more in the morning and do an R&R to be absolutely sure. But right now they look identical....

I've heard rumors here and there..... Fingers Crossed, but not going to hold my breath....

I picked up one set off eBay for a little over $30 bucks, then popped for two more off Amazon, and they were a little over $25 with free shipping. BTW they come from Japan, not China. One more thing relating to the first post.... I did order one of them and the end bibs are about 3/8" not the 6mm they need to be. It would need some reducers to make it fit.... If you want to mess with plumbing go ahead. I returned mine, and picked up the point set.

Been thinking about this, and one way this could happen is when a partially full tank is sitting in direct sunlight the pressure build up 'could' force fuel past the pump. My midnight gets damn hot.... Fuel will expand, but not as much as air in a partially filled tank. I guess this wouldn't happen if the overflow was 2 way. Also a full tank could possibly leak fuel when overheated. There must be some reason why Yamaha went to the type fuel pump that they did.

YammerDan, Tech Sargent Coffey or anyone with both a 1st and a 2nd Gen....
Condor replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Whew!! I can see this one going the way of a best oil thread.... I have all sorts of 1stGen seats, both OEM and custom. Even have a Corbin on the '91. Same thing with the 2ndGens. Early OEM's, Pillows, Butler Pillows, Corbins, but I'm gonna wait and see where this thread heads before going out and playing photographer. That said, I really don't think a 1st can be adapted to a 2nd. Not so much because of the attachment points, but because of the pan depth of a 2nd sits much deeper than a 1st. I think you should be looking at modifying a 2nd for a 2nd.... -

Very Nice...!! -
Great post Puc. Personally I think it's the 'H' factor. Honda, Harley. Name association, and familiarity, play a bunch when it comes to a buyer choosing a product... Datson wasn't doing to well until they switched to Nissan, but still haven't knocked it out of the park. Yamaha recognized it, but I think made the wrong choice when they went with 'Star' Motors'.... Personally I think they screwed up, and should have kept it YamaHa. The name has been around since the 60's, and one of the reasons buyers buy is name recognition. Brand loyalty is a strong motivating factor. There are only two reasons why a sale is made. They, the buyer and seller, like each other, or the price is right. IMHO

Hmmm?? I guess riding allows me to escape the confines of gravity, and the effects of age... A bike is my equalizer, and as long as I can keep one upright I'm happy. PS: I have a trike waiting in the wings...
