  1. Some people have more money than brains......
  2. I talked to Vic about doing something next year and he sorta said he wanted to lay low and see which direction he wants to go... He finally giving up his Presidency of the local Star Rider group, and wants to relax a bit Things have changed since you were here last time Brian. The back yard is full of trailers and sailboats. I think it's hit max density. Last time I checked there's 6 trailers camped out back there.... This whole thing has gotten away from me.. Time to retire...
  3. Oh oh.... Maybe more like a VW Tour..??
  4. So where's the seat, or did you remove it so it wouldn't blow off while you were towing it home... ?? And the link to the video??
  5. Finally back on and see this post. So not ignoring you Dave. If you want to see green then turn north. South has some beautiful vistas, but not many. North has some awesome country to see... MOF you could start out by going over the Golden Gate, and turning right at 299 to Susanville. I guess it all depends on how much time you'll have?? Let me know. If I'm up to it, I might ride it with you??
  6. I think I see one of those cracks widening while I look at it...
  7. We use the same site here Eck. Great way to keep up with neighborhood gossip and events.
  8. Pull a plug and see if you have spark, and check it for wetness. Not wet...no fuel. This is a good starting point....
  9. I bought a complete 1stGen MKI clutch basket a couple of years ago, boxed it up, and forgot about it. Just ran across it a couple of days ago. The reason I picked it up was to see if it would replace the clutch in a MKII instead of running out and buying a new Barnett conversion pressure plate for big bucks, but like I said.. never got around to it.. Now I wonder if it would be compatible with a 2Gen. If it fits it would be a lot cheaper than shelling out the money for a Barnett in order to get away from the spring disc??
  10. I'm jealous Eck. I've been looking for a true garden tractor...not a riding mower... for a while now. This Wheel Horse looks like it'd do the trick, and is just the right size. Problem is I've never seen one before?? Must be an eastern US thing??
  11. The issue isn't only with IE 8.1. I'm running IE7 and it happens to me also. Friesman told me about the next-next-next trick, so I live with it. When there's only one thumbnail I open the pic in another tab. I might also add that VR.Org is the only site that I have this issue. It might be a switch somewhere in I.E. because there are lots of I.E users on this site that don't have the 'glitch;...
  12. You're not weird Puc.... Well said
  13. Once you find another lid you might want to add a set of keeper wires to each side. I tried to scout up a pic but no luck. What you want to do is crimp a couple of eye terminals on about 8" of wire... pick a color.. and attach it to one of the latch bolts and the other end to the latch loop bolt. Put one on both ends of the lid, and on both sides. No more lost lids...
  14. Ignition switch failures are common in 2ndGens... I think it all depends on how much your riding, starting/stopping, and how many accessories your running. I'd go ahead and do the by-pass just because. If that cures the problem, then you're good to go. Then start checking connections, and wiggling wires if it still persists. Electrical gremlins are a tough critter to wrestle with....
  15. Pashnit a local MC board just went thru a complete software upgrade, for what I imagine was much the same reason. They were down for the better part of 4 days while the new bulletin board software was installed. That was a month ago and they are still tweeking...
  16. That's neat. Did you have to McGuiver a hanger bracket for the muffler as well??
  17. I never thought I'd say this, but.... I've been thinking about a car tire on the '04 with the Voyager Kit when the Avon wears out. I've read in quite a few places where the Voyager eats rear tires....
  18. Give them a call.. Maybe they'll do another 20???
  19. LOL.. Yeah Man!!!!!!!!!!! No nutz like banana nutz......
  20. Actually Jardine and MAC made slip-ons for the 1stGens, but both have quit production. I do see a set of MACs appear on eBay once in a while. The starting bid is usually around $200. If you don't have the patients to shop daily, I'd suggest drilling out rear plate on a set of OEMs for a little added rumble....
  21. Oh!..Oh!..Oh!....I know!!! It'sa..it'sa it'sa.... No I don't...just kidding... Actually I think it's a shackle of some sort....
  22. Depends on how much fuel is still in the tank, and how long it's been sitting. I had an '83 that sat for 3 neglected years, but still had a little bit of fuel on the bottom of the tank. I just filled it with fresh fuel and a whole can of Sea Foam. Didn't drain a thing. Got her fired up and let her idle. The longer it ran the smoother it got. So you might consider going that route instead of draining everything. I doubt if there's anything in the bowls left to drain anyway....
  23. Nice vicarious morning ride.... Thanks... The guy must not be a member of this board or he'd know how to get rid of that speedo moan. My speedo did that one cold morning up in Susanville way back when. Scared the crap out of me as it was my first long distance ride on the '83. It too went away once I slowed down to a crawl and then never came back until next time. Eventually found it to be the end fitting on the speedo cable to the back of the speedo had come loose. Once tightened it never did it again.....
  24. Yamaha can kiss my a$$!!! They've been yanking our chain for way to long. Go out and buy a late model used Venture and save some money.... Or a late model Harley for half the price of new...
  25. You need to bleed the clutch... If the fluid isn't clear and watery looking it's time...
