  2. Hey Neal... I had the same problem when I first tried to get insurance on the '99. Everything I had was with State Farm, and they quoted me $800 every six months for just 15/30. After I got the nose to stop bleeding I checked with Progressive and for everything you have hi-lighted the quote was $175 per year. I started breathing easier. Just for the heck of it I also checked Geico and the quote came back at $125 per year. So it was a no brainer. MOF the second year the premium dropped to $95, but in subsequent years it has risen. I now have three 2ndGens insured thru Geico. The '99, 04, and 07. It breaks out to $150, $250, and $350. That includes a trailer, and the Voyager kit on the '04 which didn't effect the premium at all. I'd recommend checking with Geico before doing anything else. J
  3. We just replaced the fuse block on my son's '83. It had been sitting for a while and the battery was really weak, so I tossed in a 20 from a 2ndGen and with the lower batt profile the block cleared the cover with out having to McGuiver anything...
  4. $200; $350; $450; $525; $1000; $1300; $1500; $3000; $4100; $6000 = $18425.... Still less than a Harley.....
  5. Brings back some memories. I bought a '56 2DR/265 in the early '60's..... for $100 bucks. A co-worker had just had it painted and upholstered, and then popped the radiator cap, and scalded the 'H' out of his hand. Then he went to a Friday night party and some jerk hit-n-run side swiped the right rear quarter. He was telling me about it at work and said the first guy with a $100 can have it. I wrote him a check then and there. He brought the 'pink' the next day and I drove it home. Ran and handled great. Couldn't open the passenger door because part of the quarter had bent over the edge of the door, so I took a hammer and beat the cr@p out of offending metal. The door worked fine after the custom body work. My wife drove it back and forth to work for about a year, and one day during the Watts Riots it sprung a leak in the lower radiator hose. She was afraid to stop and when she pulled into the driveway the engine was about 15 seconds from melt down. Snap crackle and pop. I let it cool down over night and added water the next morning. That little 265 never ran the same again. Sold it to my barber for $100 bucks when we moved to NorCal.
  6. I think they like making these videos to make some of us feel bad. Using this method works great for those that are vertically challenged, but for a lot of us getting our ass down low enough and getting leverage to lift ain't all that easy. It's one thing to lift with legs that are partially bent versus legs that are completely bent. For tall fat guys like me...forget it.... That's why I carry a 6:1 block and tackle and a length of rope in the saddle. Makes picking one up easier....
  7. Yep... Took it out of the box and plugged it in yesterday. Don't wanna rush things....
  8. I've been riding on Corbins for a while now. One of the '99, and one on the '07. I just picked up a used studded Corbin off eBay and thought once repaired would do nicely on the '04 Midnight Trike. Turns out it isn't as easy as I thought so it's going to be dropped of at Corbin in Holister on the way down to my daughters in Lompoc. It's going to get a complete rebuild with some modifications to sit higher in the saddle. BTW my '91 1stGen is also running a Corbin....
  9. Can't remember exactely what it looks like, but there is a spacer that fits on the right side of the axle. I lost one when I had my front tire mounted by the dealer. Luckily they found it laying on the shop floor....
  10. I've R&R'd the carb set on my '99, and didn't have to take the knob off. However if you're thinking of rebuilding the carbs, I'm not totally sure about this, but you can unlink the rod where it hooks into the choke mechanism on the other side between #4 and #3 and slide the whole rod out.
  11. My feelings as well.......
  12. The 1stGen joints have a metal sleeve sandwiched in the joint wall. The 2ndGens have a plastic liner on the inside of the joint except for that portion under the clamps. I replaced the '99's because joint cracks started to open up at the top when the clamps were tightened. In my mind they could cause a vacuum leak, so went ahead and replaced them for peace of mind...
  13. I don't think Corbin even makes a single seat for the RSV. Is there a problem using a dual touring??
  14. I have friends that say good things about their Dillons... Personally I use RCBS presses because the were cheap, and instead of getting a progressive loader I have 3 stations. Most of the equipment was picked up off Craigslist.
  15. I use a 5x10 half wall trailer, and I'm sure the same would apply to a toy hauler. In my first attempts at trailering my '83VR I used a couple of 2x4's on each side of the front wheel with a cross piece to keep the bike from creeping forward during stops. Then tied it down with a ton of 1" ratchet straps. Looked like a spider web, but figured the more the merrier.... It was a chore getting the bike centered up off the side stand, and took quite a while to get it secured. After a couple of years, I went out and bought one of the heavy duty Harbor Freight chocks. Got it on sale, and I guess that's what motivated me. The thing is a 'sorta' copy of a Condor... no relation.... aluminum chock that sell for close to $300 new. The HB chock is made out of steel, powder coated, and ran about $60. I lagged it to the floor of the trailer, and have never been happier. Ride the bike on and into the chock and get off. No more side stand. I just leave it on the trailer. In a toy hauler it could be secured to the floor using blind nuts, and removed when not needed.
  16. As Brian already mentioned, that's what I experienced a few months back when I tried one out. Notified the seller that it wouldn't fit the bike without re-plumbing, and he told me to keep it and issued a full refund. I was going to take a pic for comparison purposes alongside an OEM, but dang if I could find it in the stash.... I did order 3 of the point sets, and they work as advertised....
  17. This may be a better link to K&L/Amazon. Free Shipping. Amazon.com: K&L Supply Universal Fuel Pump Point Switch Kit 18-4615: Automotive
  18. Wonder if they ever clear coated it??
  19. I just ordered an AGM Battery from Sears. Ran into the ad while messing around in eBay. Sometimes an ad link will be placed at the bottom of a page that has nothing to do with eBay. Saw one about a 'Chrome' and thought it was worth looking into. CHROME SEARS The price was very good so thought I'd check one out. Around $55 and no shipping. With state sales tax it ran around $60 bucks. A lot less then the DEKA's. And these have a 18 month Sears warrantee. I'll let you know what I find when it arrives.
  20. The first gens go to 17psi.... Common mistake....
  21. Down at the bottom of the this page there's a box to check color preference. You might also need to go into your personal file and change it there.
  22. Time flies when you're having fun.....
