  1. Never seen that in any of the groups I've ridden with, but dang that is a good idea...
  2. Great sound Puc. Kingston Trio sounds mixed in with a Jimmy Buffet ballad. I like it... and there's more.
  3. Must be a setting somewhere. It's just a link to a youtube.... Looks like others are getting it.
  4. I'm nutz about Venture MC's, but here's my other great love....
  5. Answered yes to most of them... All except the one on a V-Twin only, and the 500/750. Guess I just like the sound of a scoot no matter what it sounds like....
  6. I think you still have air in the clutch line.... You may think you've gotten it all out when you bled it, but you haven't.....
  7. WOW!! Beautiful....
  8. Yeah That.... I'm thinking it's a bad Schrader valve....
  9. I was having a nice morning.... now I'm blind!! LOL
  10. There's a pic earlier in this thread that shows how they attach to the fairing.... And man this thread is old.... Just like me.
  11. When I bought my first '83 the engine was noisy but I thought it was normal. Then I changed the oil to 20-50 Valvolene MC Specific during routine maintenance. Holy Molly!! did it quiet down.....
  12. There a lot of good ones. Personally I use The Weather Chanel for current and forecasts. I also use Raindar for getting the low down on stormy days and watching storm tracks in real time.
  13. Very true...forgot about that. Pump could be a possibility, but if it clicks 99 times out of a 100 it's OK. The part number for the point kit is
  14. I don't think Lone Eagle will be up to it. He's no longer the prez of Star 186 after serving faithfully for 3-4 years, and I don't get much response when emailing. I think he's ridden off into the sunset on his Harley.....
  15. I don't know how this evolved into a bad fuel pump thread, but the key here is that the kill switch is always left on. After cycling it a few times it fired up and ran fine the rest of the day. Ergo, dirty kill switch contact. One good reason to use the kill switch to turn the scoot off, and keep the contacts cleaned off. Use it or loose it....
  16. Like tools, buying trailers is like a disease. Driving down to the bay area tomorrow to pick up my 4th tandem axle. This ones for the bikes. Some people know that my garage is stuffed to the rafters with biz and Venture junque. So I started buying trailers for the overflow and they seemed to fill up quickly. Meanwhile all the first gen bikes are spread around the property under HD bike covers. My 2ndgens too. So this ones going to be dedicated to getting the 2nds in outta the weather. Luckily I live in an area that doesn't have harsh winters like a lot of you, but we do get 17" of the wet stuff on an average per year. So it does get sloppy occasionally. #4 is a 7x14 and I plan on moving the stuff out of my 8x16, and using the 16 for 2nd gen bike storage. I plan on getting all three bikes, '99, '07, and '04 trike in there with a lot of room to work on the '99, and get it running again. Might I mention that I also have a 5x10 utility set up to trailer a bike, 2 MC tow behinds, and a 30' sailboat on a trailer in the back yard. How many other board members use portable garages for their bikes??
  17. Got up to 76° here yesterday. Took a couple of motrin and went out and only started the bikes 'cause it was so cold.....
  18. She sure is purty....
  19. Sorry, but gotta agree with Goose. DOT 3&4 turn black when moisture is absorbed into the fluid. To get the stuff to turn black via heat the temp it would need to be close to combustion. The boiling point of DOT 4 is around 260degs with 3% moisture. Lots of moisture will cause the 'feel' of the clutch to soften, but not cause the clutch to grab. That's another issue. Mechanical. Moisture could be sucked into the master via a bad gasket when it cools at night and not show any evidence of a fluid leak. Even in a dry climate. A one way seal, or bad crush washer could be another possibility. Personally since the bike is still under warrantee I'd wait until the clutch starts to grab and then take it to the dealer. Don't say anything about the black fluid. Let them figure it out. If it starts doing it again, take it back until they get it right...
  20. The hose is obsolete but can be found on eBay at Radiator Pipe Hose 3 26H 12578 00 XVZ12 XVZ13 | eBay On the non-op fan. On the right side frame upright you'll see a metal coolant junction with two sensors. One is for the fan, and the other is for the temp gauge. Also check to see that the brown ground wire connection is clean. Probably is since you say you're running hot. Next check the drain valve and make sure it's in the right position and not by-passing the thermostat.
  21. Early '99's have a weak plastic base for the antennas. Make sure they aren't cracked. Whine!!
  22. I think Don does a great job riding herd on this bunch of misfits. Even if he does ride a Harley.... Hey he coulda bought a Wing....
  23. Finding exhaust's in good used condition on eBay is an adventure at best.... Unless you can find an NOS set, it's a waste of time. I've been looking for a set of Harley V&H turn downs, and they are either new, at close to new price, or toast. And be careful on a LN used set. They may have a misleading description. Ask lots of questions. I even bought a set of Bubbs off one of our members here and what I got didn't even come close to what he'd described as condition. Rather than make a stink I wrote it off as a learning experience... Next time I'll know better.
  24. Thanks Jeff. I just didn't scroll down far enough. The old board had a link on the side menu. That's where I thought it would still be... Doh!!
  25. OK, I'm looking all over the place for the link to the tech section... Need someone to point out the direction...
