  1. I bet if they did revive the non "Harley-styled-retro-Venture" it would sell very well indeed... I see alot of people in here refering to how they were sorry they sold their old 1st gen venture...
  2. I have an 86 venture with a den-ray hitch, tell me where the part number is stamped and I can look for you..
  3. I use the Broker "murtaugh smith" in the link given above....He bounces me between Jevco and Kingsway insurance, those are the two major players that he deals with.. Each year it seems the other one is cheaper so I switch.. Hey I just bought an 86 a few months back, where are you in Ontario.? I am down in the Niagara region..
  4. Ok my sister and her husband came up with 2 dvd's for me... first one was an encyclopedia type thing about house cats.....(because we had some cats in the house) and I must have said that I enjoyed cooking too at sometime, cause yep I got a cooking dvd as well...I am a real handy kinda guy, interests are old cars, bikes boats, etc... and those dvds were what they came up with. We now only buy for each others kids now...
  5. Well it all started for me back when I was 10 years old. 1977 Kawasaki KD 100 1984 Virago 400 1985 Suzuki GS 550 1987 KLR 250 (rode the mountains of BC with this) 2000 Suzuki DR 650 with the proper tires you can go anywhere on this 1993 Suzuki Intruder 800 Very pretty bike but ergonomically too small for me 1988 Ninja 750 fast and fun but hard on the knees 1986 Venture....only rode it home when purchased, waiting for next spring now.....:bawling:Damn winter....
  6. When I was taking my motorcycle training(to get cheaper insurance, back riding after 15 years of not) One task we had to do was accelerate to 60 km's/hr(about 40 mph) watch an instructor in front of you point left or right and you had to brake and avoid by turning the way he pointed... Sounds easy enough, except they also teach us to turn off our fuel petcock every time you leave the bike.. So I come back from a break, its my turn to do the test and halfway up to speed my bike bogs down......had to reach down quick and turn on the fuel while still trying to acheive that minimum speed for the test...I did it, but did not get up to a fast enough speed, I failed that test, was humiliated by "rookie riders", but I did pass the course...

    Good video

cool video, that should suck in a few more yuppies to buy a harley, have it sit in their garage, then sell it a year later because all they do is ride for 30 miuntes at a time by themselves...
  8. Well either way, if that trailer is 6-700 lbs or 4-500 lbs it still says that a 2-300 lb dual sport bike should not be a problem... except for maybe the "stong cross winds" to the bike on the trailer... Doesn't sound like many/anybody has ever tried it.. I am thinking with a light enough trailer it would be possible, like the links for trailers shown earlier in this thread... I am looking at maybe a yamaha wr 250 or kawi klr 250... about 250-270 lbs max..
  9. This is starting to sound like it has never been done before with a dirt bike, hmmm, I do like the trailer in a bag, it looks to be very light weight. As for cross winds, would that not be stabilizedby the axle of the trailer.? I am thinking of the 3 points of contact- 2 wheels of trailer, and the hitch leading to the rear tire of the bike.. now with the bike being centred front to back over the axle would that not soak up most of the cross wind force.? Or do you think a stong side wind would apply "yaw" force on the rear of the bike.?
  10. Thanks Carl, perhaps I am being greedy trying to take in 2 vacations at once...
  11. Hey I gave up and sold my truck when it started costing me over $100 a week for gas... The goal here was to combine a road trip down to Tennesee on the Venture, then off-load a dual pupose bike and do a portion of the Trans-America Trail...Which would make for one hell of a vacation...
  12. I see all these touring bikes pulling trailers these days, was wondering how much weight can you actually pull.? I have an 86 venture 1300 and am wondering if it could pull a trailer with a dirt/dual purpose bike on it..??
