  1. We will leave Urbanna at 6 AM, GPS shows 1 1/2 hours to Riderdukes. That gives us one quick stop at McDonald's to be there at 8. Wife ( Mary Ann) says she is coming too. If you want you can email me your cell phone and we can stay in touch if any thing changes. Mine is 804-337-9084
  2. I'm thinking on it, wife is out of sorts now. Will discuss it with her tomorrow, if she comes we will stay in Gettysburg for the night, I will let you know for sure if were coming. Thistledown
  3. I live in Urbanna, about 65 miles east of Richmond near Rt 17. I am about 1 1/2 hour from your starting point in Fredericksburg and I think the ride would be a good time. Is any one planning on staying in Gettysburg and coming back on Sunday?
  4. I have a 06 RSV with the pillow top seats. Have just noticed that there is an area on both the passengers and riders seat that is turning gray, like the black dye is fading. has any one else experienced this? Does any one know how to fix this an do you think it would be covered under the factory guarantee ? The bike is always garaged and I have frequently used leather products on the seats.
  5. Ok, i've read all the comments and I agree that hurting some one by my neglect is unacceptable, but consider safety a chain on a one wheel trailer such as a uni-go. If it is connected by a chain and comes un hooked you (me in this case) are in very serious trouble, likley not only a wild loose trailer flying around but a motercycle and a tralier flying arround uncontroled. Just the loose trailer is far less dangerious and injery to me and passanger are almost certian with it hooked with a chain where un hooked it may not hit any thing. I and my passanger need to be my 1st safety concederation.
  6. I guessed that that mite be the case. I am trying to find some place a convex mirror can be installed so that I can see it. schoolhouse gave me a lid that wasn't up to snuff when i told the salesman that I was thinking of making one to put a windshield on and a box for my 20# dog. He loves to go on the bike with me. When I've found that I cannot see the trailer , I am not so sure I want my dog to ride in it. He may just have to continue on the luggage rack when were 2-up.
  7. that seem a good idea, thanks
  8. I am wondering why the tire couldn't be patched, not that I doubt your word, but I am wondering what would have happened to it and also would it have been possible to temporarily install a tube to finish your trip? Have you looked into installing a 12 inch tire?
  9. Well ,I did it. Picked up a new Uni-go from schoolhouse in Ohio last week. Brought it home in the back seat of the car and installed the tongue and wheel. Did the wiring thing and had a go at it. Never pulled a trailer before and I have about 40,000 on my '06 RSV. Put 70# in it and tried it out, didn't know it was there, can't see or feel it. Had a friend ride behind me to see if all was OK. It just follows along. so far I've tried about 3 rides of about 40 miles each. took it up to 70 for a shot and did a lot at 62 or so. Seems like its going to be OK. Got an extra set of wheel bearings with it just to be have it they go out on a trip. I think the bike center of gravity is lower with it connected and actually seems easier to handle in the parking lots than with out the trailer, I will keep you posted as I gain experience with it
  10. 66 and can't think of any reason not to keep riding. If you live too long you end up in a nursing home, that really sucks
  11. Heading out to Yellowstone July 16 for abort two weeks plus, First trip this spring will be to Charleston, will camp one nite on the way down, stay at a friends 2 days then camp one day on the way back. I'm sure we will ride the blue ridges some, were so close and it is some fine riding
  12. I looked at the literature on all the single wheel trailers I could find. I just ordered the uni-go to tow behind my 06 RSV, It is being painted the Black Cherry color. I agree they are too much money for what they are but they look like quality to me, I also order a spare set of wheel bearings just to have. Some have said they were a problem.Totaled $2700 Someone posted that Napa sells a wheel bearing that will fit ( hope they will post that info again). I guess that when i go out to have fun with one of my toys, not having it work well just takes the fun out of the whole thing, so I would rather pay a little more and get what i want. Also from what i read on this site, should i decide that i don't want it any more, selling it should not be a problem, so the real cost to own is not that much. Time will tell
  13. sell them used as is, damaged
  14. Thanks for the info. I guess I will be placing an order for a new one. Sounds like the rear wheel replacement problem can best be solved by just spending another $95 and stocking your own tire and rear axle assembly. They look like a well built product but someone is making a bundle, there just is not that much L&M in a trailer like that. One of you talented younger guys should start you own business
  15. I have worked in construction all my life and I like to think that given enough time and money I can build most anything, ( the third or forth try) but when it comes to welding, I have to stick to JB weld cause any welding i do looks like what you find under the chickens roost
  16. I guess we have decided to buy a Uni-go trailer and I am wondering if there are any used ones out there. I have read all there is on this site about them, pros and cons. My intent is light camping,(no cooking) with about every 3rd day in a motel. We are planning a trip from Virginia to Yellowstone this summer. My thought is that even when we don't camp, much of the time we need both summer and winter clothing as well as rain gear, ect. Wife is not a light packer and she well fill what ever size trailer we get, so I think small is best. We just got back from Key West, trailered to Daytona , then put 1200 miles on the bike riding arround. Sure would have been nice to have a little less junk on the bike. We have a 20 dog who loves to go also, he rides in a box on the luggage rack on our one day trips. Any suggestions or leads on a used trailer would be appreicated (forget the one about a lighter packing wife, got to keep this one)
  17. I am thinking that we would like to take a trip on the RSV leaving Virginia and riding a loop seeing the Grand canyon first and then proceeding north to Yellowstone then on back to Virginia. I would plan on camping a couple days then staying in a motel the third day. I would like feed back on the best time of year to do this as well as routing and camping information. Maybe there is some suggested reading material. Our trips in the past have been 3 or 4 day, staying at night in motels. Wife agrees to try the camping, but we will still eat in restaurants. I am planning 3 to 4 weeks to do this trip. All suggestion appreciated
  18. I understand that the idle speed should be set to 1000 RPM. Other than not stalling, is there a reason for this? Suggestions on an inexpensive tachometer to but to set this the RPM, been doing it by ear Thanks
  19. I had to remove the cables from the grip end ( not to tough) and re route. I had to remove front flaring and really had a problem getting slack, even took the headlight out so i could get in there better, BUT you CAN may it without new cables. Keep trying
  20. Eugene, what size do you think would be the best for the RSV. I would be using it the same as you for storage and travel
  21. I was thinking a 7x12 to haul behind a Ford Explorer, there is several hundred dollars difference in the cost of a v nose
  22. Does anyone know, or have they seen figures on just how much gas is saved with a V nose trailer over a regular square front unit?
  23. If you live where you ride on the right side of the road then the left side of the front tire will ware faster, not because of crown but because you travel more miles in left turns than in right turns and because the radius of the left turn is greater than the right you travel at higher speed causing more ware.
  24. If i speak into the mike my voice can be hard in mo own headset, this is feedback, it is supposed to be that way on many systems and thats OK, some systems it can be turned off completely, question is can the volume be adjusted, the volume for that is not adjusted by the IC volume on passengers volume control, It would be and internal adj inside the system.
  25. I have an 06 RSV and am using the JM helmet sets. I can hear my own voice in the headset, and that OK but the feedback is too loud. I must talk fairly loud so that passenger can hear on intercom but it doesn't need to be that loud in MY ears. Volume control doesn't adjust feedback volume. Can the feed back volume be adjusted??
