Last year when I brought it home, plugs gaps was the first thing done along with a very expensive oil change, I think I might have put 200 miles on it caps after initially getting her going. getting sick last fall hurt more than my head as the bike ended up uncovered and unprepped for the winter as I lay in ICU with my head cut open. Going to Houlton Payday, new set of plugs plug caps etc. along with some piano wire and a new torch head cleaner also good for jets and the like. The new list is thanks to the input received and I hope it grows as its 60 miles to the nearest parts of any kind and being a recent lobotomy [atient dont help the memory. Update. Bike started and ran at around 1300 rpm without the choke on . i let it run about 20 minutes. throttle cable might need replacing , does not reset after twist is bike isnt running, checked adjuster screws at the grip, NO JOY.. she starts better and didnt hiccup. How Weird..... Onward the List!!! Many Thanks Brethren!!! Inded! -

You are most welcome. I have found its easier to offer backup to sound advice than to offer a different perspective based on personal preferences when the previous advice is solid. Just because I might do something a smidge different dont make the previous statements invalid or worth arguing. Its always a good thing to Back someone up vrs creating more dust when theres work to be done. If theres solid leadership in play get behind em and Getter Did! -

IM really praying I dont have to get too deep. if so, I will likely buy another scoot mid June or so and wrap this one up till I have better conditions ( roof) to work on it. I already Love it and cant ride it! Looking Forward to the Tec chats! -

Listen to the Man, He knows his stuff and pretty Spot on with regards to the inside coil. Sometime after 2002, Georgia became the lets steal the compresser coils State as the price of copper hit a ceiling and took the roof with it. Not too long after while sopme of these newly installed units wereyet under warranty a Law was passed barring DIY purchase of good to help the average Tec minded Joe. If you could solder do minimal quality electrical work ( follow instructions and youtube) you could repair swap your own system, R22 if you can find some will hit you at $50 - $75 lb if you can find it. They was so much pressure on the industry there, that some folks were forced to upgrade to a new system if for some reason they only lost a line and only needed a Vac an recharge after repair. At the same time the 410 was right at $110 a can vrs the $50lb for R22.Its a serious Mess. was I you I would take the offered advice literally Per the Quote or prepare the Fork over dance. Theres a tag plate on your outside unit with the needed info, might have to remove some covers to access it. If there is NO TAG Plate, STOP. its too old to monkey with unless its a heatpump meaning it was/is used to heat as well as cool as stated increasing the odds of compatibility. I still have an account with a supplier that moves tons of this stuff. If you wind up in the pickle jar, I will work with our Brother here as Im too unfamiliar with this stuff anymore to call any shots , but can help with aquisistion. I will straight up give you the site and phone number and yawl go at it. I dont need want anyboys money or cuts. just doing my part for whats its worth to help out. Good luck on the repairs . My 2 cents. -

i FORGOT to add the name of the dealership. St Hilaire Motor Sport in Barrington NH. Im Sorry I cannot remember the gentleman's Name that was the Owner who passed away.. If His wife is representative of who he was, then he had to be one heck of a nice Guy!! -
Father we ask your Strong Hands of support for this Family. Close knit and caring as the world is already in turmoil there is much grieving added to their weight to carry. Father you say to us Joy Cometh in the Morning. Let morning come soon for them. give them all the strength to grieve without restraint that they may begin to heal and take care of each other as need be, For the Parents having to outlive their Child we the living dont have words for that Father only You can help. The son to lose his Betrothed. Again Only you have the power to Heal and strengthen. Hold them and Love on them that they endure this tragedy and move forward for she is in a better place and surely would not have them suffer her absence no longer than need be. In Jesus Name we Pray, AMEN.

First things first, history, the Bike then Mine. So we can all start lobbing Bombs on the same page. This is my 4th Yamaha, 2nd Venture Royale. The 83 I had I bought it at 17lk miles as a basket case of parts from a dealership of all places, literally a pickup truck full of parts. 2 months later Im all over the place riding short long didnt matter. I had my own shop. My XS11 special was the first shaft drive daily driver bike to wing class Champion and Grand Champion at Norwalk 84 or 85 , been a minute. This current bike sat for years as the owners health was bad. He was a well known Guy that had a dealership in New Hampshire. His Wife was a wonderful Lady we had prayer the day I picked up the bike. Her Husband the owner of the dealership and This Bike had recently passed away. The Bike was and Is Special. considering it was missing nothing and beautiful in appearance, the price was to low to put here but for what ever reason It sat there until I made the 6 hr drive to go get it. It had been ridden once a year for 10 years. according to the wife it didnt get 50 miles a year Parades only. So Now I have it and the carbs dont wanna cooperate. without going into details, My health and living conditions went from the best of times and facilities to zero. No Home, No Shop, No Garage. So what ever I do has to be done when its not raining or snowing. Sunday Evening I gave her a full can of seafoam. For all you guys that are on the fence about the Foam, Its the best product of its kind on the market. If it dont work, FIX The Problem! This evening after climbing down off my cabin building site, I got her fired up and baby walked the rpm down as it warmed up for about 30 mins. it seemed to idle a tad better but based on throttle position and the idle screw position, its not measurable other than its not shutting off when I leave it alone, Holds steady at around 1150 rmps. any lower and she hiccups and stalls out. Other issues in play, the 2in x 4 inch chrome and black rectangular cover on the side of the right hand rear cylinder has a slow but steady coolant drip, Head Gasket?? Haven't run a pressure test yet. Wiring Harness connections had the green death all over the place when I first got it, nothing electrical worked except headlight and parking lights, no turn signals brake light nothing. Fuse panel and most connections full of green corrosion. Picked up a wiring harness off ebay for $35. that did the trick. I got everything working except the cruise control. I have another spare Harness, New Radiator. She needs some plastics repairs, I tend to use fiberglass for those as it lasts and holds better even if it is a pain to work with. So heres what Im thinking to do, and feel free to drop bricks on my head to stop me if im going in the wrong direction. 1, Compression Test, Dry and wet check rings and then another go to check valve sealing. 2. Coolant system pressure leak down test. 3. Rebuild the carbs, at the very least diaphragms and clean the jets ( recommendations plz jet sizing?). 4. Where the radio goes, is an empty Box No clue what was there, harness ends misc wires. Thinking it was same as my 83 stereo and intercom?? 5. Finish the rewire on the factory cruise control. 6. Does this bike have an automated ride control system? If it does I cant find it. Its all the way down like riding a 900lb brick with a bad attitude. IN closing , the bike came with a $400 in parts, exhaust seals, wheel Bearings, Filters, misc nuts bolts etc. AND! 2 Manuals. Yamaha Factory Service Manual P/N LIT-11616-07-27 supplement and the Original P/N LIT-11616-10-67. If theres another Manual I need Link me up and I get to it. Im all Ears Gentlemen. Go easy, My Feet dont work well anymore an Im too crippled to run away from ya. God Bless ya and Ride Safe!!

I have pretty much this exact same problem. The 87 I picked up last summer will not idle without the choke until very warm. also, the idle speed screw has to be cranked in all the way for the bike to idle at around 800 rpm. Already did the seafoam thing but have yet been able to run the snot out of it for a couple hundred miles. since I only used what was left in a can, after reading all these fantastic posts Im gunna dump in a can with fresh gas, back that idle screw off some and run what they call the circle up here. its approx 240 miles with 90 miles of it in 75mph limit highways heading south on 95 from Houlton Maine to to Lincoln. If that dont clear it up, OFF THEY COME! Thanks All for the great info. I at least now have a plan ... -

It sucks to drop dead just when it time to prepare for fun! aside from not being able to enjoy a free ride on turbojet chopper inside instead of latched to the skids. I find this great event gonna happen 60 miles from my sisters place Seneca Nation Reservation. Maybe I do a drive by and head on down to the Res to visit, Not hotel fees and I can camp free in the back yard!. Called X2 today, will try again later on.anyone wanna go in on a cabin or site Hit me up, I bath once a year so im not contageous! -
The same is true up here in Maine. Many have moved on as they couldnt afford to stay open. The money for smaller business went to larger businesses with little people booted to the end of the line while many others simply didnt qualify mine included. I build drones for search and rescue support. My reply came 6 weeks after my application stating they are just now getting to smaller folks and thanking me for my declined application. Being a disabled Service connected veteran was worth absolutely zero. the big rats got all or most of the cheese. Gonna change the riding experience especially on Date days with not many places surviving the shut down.

I wear mine 100% of time during a 2 cruise. the Interstate is the only exception as I figure at 70+ the helmet aint gunna save much if theres anything left to save. Been kicked back across the deadline 3 times since 1990. none of em were bike accidents. I wear a DOT for riding up here in Maine. Moose Deer and Bear are large and not prone to running of of your way. I wear a Decor Brain Cap for parades etc slow moving non traffic stuff. My 2 cents.

Losing a Brother is like having some of self removed from the body. Having buried all of my Brothers I feel you. Give yourself time to Grieve. allow your humanity to flow out of self. Take it from a Guy thats been resucitated 3 times in 29 years. you will see him again. Now is your time of grief, but he will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. Prayers for you and the family
