I would look for the 4 1/2" lights from Yamaha. You can get them in sealed beam or H-3 bulb. and they are easy to change to LED if you would like to go that way. I have the lights from a Road Star on my RSV with Trucklight Phase 6 LEDs. They are bright.

That "Area" is a pretty good ride thru some hills that can get ya lost real quick!!!
Dan you of all people should know that all roads lead to almost heaven WV. All jokes aside we will have a few good guides for this rally that knows the area very well. If you take off on your own just do not turn on to a dirt road. You may get lost or stuck.

I have not voted yet. I volunteered to host the IR for the simple reason that the last three have been in a close area and if WI. would get the vote it would be four with in 938 miles of each other. I would try to go to it any where at any time it is held other than Jan. in NY.

I don't know if the same gov is still in office but when we went there, the govr was openly welcoming bikers to WV for the riding, they were redoing a lot of the roads to make them more open to bikers. they have a good web site,
http://www.wvcommerce.org/travel/thingstodo/outdoorrecreation/motorcycles/default.aspx
I always like for someone from the area to helps out, they can show you more places that you may miss and places to avoid.
SLOW ROLL, it's your turn to show us around your area!! LOL!!
You got it. You make it up here and I will show you roads that most riders avoid but don't know what they are missing.

My whole thing was were am I picking my wife up at what airport. Her time restraints, she can fly in do the tour and ride home with me.
There is a small air port in Elkins, WV but your best bet would be to fly into Clarksburg,WV. it is about 2 hours away.

Less than 24 hours to VOTE HERE: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?109666-Run-Off-VOTING-for-2016-International-Rally-Location
He could not have said it any better even if he had you putting words in his mouth Puc. Good job. OH BYW you said 24 hours. I think it is more like 48.

Don if you or anyone would like to come to this area to ride for a couple days during the summer months I would be happy to meet up and show you some of the roads. I am only about three hours from there and I grew up riding those roads.

You will like the stretch from Roanoak VA. to Davis,WV. So here is a little heads up. The stretch from Davis WV.to Wardinsville WV. is a new four lane that they are working on at this time. It should be complete by next fall.

Looks good to me. I will come down if you get something together next year.

And riding up and down either side of the Mississippi is a great way to spend some quality time with your motorcycle!
If you just want to spend some quality time with the Mississippi itself there are small boat tours that take half a day or so.
Heck if it is rivers you want to ride up and down come to WV. You can ride beside the Cheat, Dry Fork. Black Water, and Black fork and they eventually end up in the Mississippi.

If WV is the location for the rally. The place I would hold it is http://canaanresort.com/13/home/ it has camping, lodge and cabins, the cabins have 1 to 4 bedrooms. The time frame will be Sept. 26th - 29th. Sunday the 25 th would be arrival date and Fri. 30 would be departure date. Go here for some of the area attractions. http://canaanresort.com/13/activities/area-attractions/

It is sounding better already. I will have to keep this in mind . The spring race may be out as we usually have a lot of snow up here, little hard riding on ice. I retire the end of May so who knows.

FL. is one of the three states that I have not been to on the eastern half of the country. I would like to go there but it would have to be for more than a one day visit. Lets see, If I take a trip to Daytona for the race I could stretch that into a week. Do you think that would work?
-
any idea of when this will be held? July, Aug, Sept???? If it was listed I missed it. Would be nice to know for planning vacation and saving $$........
From what I can remember without reading through the many posts. The WI. and Ontario is mid Aug. The gulf coast in Oct and the WV is last week of Sept.

If that would happen then Don would break out his trusty double headed coin and play some heads I win tails you loose.

I used 320 grit sand paper and then used the green polishing rouge with an 8" wheel to do all the carb covers that I made.

I have been in there and it is very crowded during bike week. Sorry to see it go. I think it will be back bigger and better.
Passenger riding pegs,who makes them?

Diamond-R Accessories was making them. Not sure they still do though. If it wasn't for my wife I would not be riding today. I had a crash in 72 and didn't want anything to do with bikes. After we got married she wanted to go for a ride while visiting my brother and talked me in to it.
