  1. In response to YamahaParExcellence's post, my previous ride was a 2012 Gold Wing. I really wanted something a little lower, and with an easier clutch, and more of a cruiser style. I was really surprised at just how easily it handles; feels like a very low center of gravity, especially given the weight. Course having my feet flat on the ground helps as well. The clutch is somewhat easier than the Wing - not as much as I had hoped, but less just the same. Helps with the arthritis in my left hand. I'm no audiophile, but the sound system sounds great. I used to play music on the mounted speakers on the Wing, and these are at least as good. As noted elsewhere on this site, I'm somewhat underwhelmed with the GPS right now. I used BaseCamp to plan detailed routes then uploaded them to the Wing. So far I have not figured out how to get more than about 5 way-points uploaded into the Venture. I am planning a week-long trip to the West Virginia area next month and hope to wring it out pretty good there.

     

    I have had trouble with Base Camp also. I have had good results with HD Ride planner but you have to transfer the route to Tyre to travel to load to my Garmin but you may not need Tyre for the new Venture. I live in the eastern Panhandle of WV. if you get this way give me a shout.

  2. Holy cow, Abdul, yes, I completely forgot!!! In the meantime, I came in possession of one over the winter, but I am still interested!! If you can hold on to it until July I plan on making the Niagara Falls Rally, or if you can transport it to Caledonia Wizard765 comes over here often, as a matter of fact, he was just here today!

     

    I know, why would I want two?? Well, I'll keep the brand new one for myself and donate the used one for a door prize or something like that...

     

    Bob what rally in July at Niagra Falls? I heard it was in Aug.

    Well he didn't miss me. We got a total of about 14". The good news is he is done for this year around here.

  4. Yesterday was the first day of spring . :clap2: Today it is the first day of winter. :bawling: Jeff have you got your seasons mixed up? We have 10" on the ground and it started to :snow2: at 8:00 AM Well I hope summer and fall does not go so fast.

  5. have'n probab's with my fuel pump, wont kick in when i take it for a ride and get on it heavy, wont keep enough gas in the carbs to keep go'n or keep the carbs fed . i lose 2 cyclinders, starter has been acting funny lately also. i took side cover off and felt the fuel pump go'n down the road, just not run'n when i think it should to feed the carbs. also changed fuel pump to another one i had and still hav same prob. any hep would be greatly appreciated!! have already ordered new starter relay. THANKS:scratchchin:

     

    Have you checked the fuel filter? It could be getting clogged and not letting fuel flow at high RPMs. If it is the filter get one that is smaller with a cartrage that you can change and you can locate it just behind the tank for easy access under the seat.

  6. When I was a young lad. The men that bought old cars would use Kerosene and pour into the carb while it was running to clean the valves and pistons. That was mid to late 50'S. Didn't need to stabilize the gas because at .50 a gallon it didn't last that long. :Laugh:

  7. I commute about 40 miles to work and another 40 back. 1/2 my commute is interstate and I run anywhere between 75 and 85mph. So 40 miles a day, I'm running around 80mph. Maybe that's why I can't get any better than 30mpg. I guess that's the reason for the humongous engine sizes we see on cruisers and touring bikes today. I'm still happy with the bike. At least I know when I need to fill up. :)

     

    I have an 03 RSV that I got in 05 with 4200 miles on it. The PO that I got it from used 92 gas from the day he got it. When I ask him why he said that is what he ran in all his previous bikes. When I got it home I looked in the owners manual and found that the bike was set up for 84 gas. So I went to 84 and my MPG dropped like a rock to 125 to reserve. I thought there was something wrong with the bike. I then tried 87 and the MPG went up to 175 to reserve. I have been using 87 since then and I run about the same MPH as you on the slab. I do keep my carbs tuned and air filters clean. I check tire pressure at least once a week or if it sets for a while. OH and I have not done anything to the carbs and run the 4-2-4 Nasty Boy pipes. I now have 108,000 on the clock.

  8. I ride an 03 RSV and I also have a 2014 V Star 1300 Classic Tour. It rides as smooth as my RSV and is FI. If I was going to down size the Venture it would be another V Star 1300 and they are water cooled. You said that you have a Road Star. Does it have the Bat wing fairing and hard bags?

  9. I have a 14 Mustang Convertible that we got in Oct. of 14 with 27,000 on the clock and have 100.000 on it now. Yes we use it a lot. I have been thinking about an extended warranty for it also. But if I do get one I would have to include electrical and cooling with it as they can cost as much as drive train to replace. What ever you do or don't do it is a nice looking ride.

  10. We just got a 60" flat screen tv for the living room last fall and we are just about to cut the cable ties and go to Dish or Sling TV. Tired of the big bills. And if we go with Dish we can get the small Dish for the motorhome also.

  11. Yes it sounds like your clutch is slipping. You do not have the slipper clutch in the 07. It is very easy to change in about an hour. Mine did the same thing and I went with the Barons clutch plate and new fiber disk. My old disk were not bad and can be used again as they are still in spec. The spring in these bikes are weak. When you are ready to replace it you can lay the bike over on the left crash bars to access the clutch cover with out loosing any oil. You will need a long ball end Allen wrench to get to the boles at the bottom of the pan close to the exhaust pipe.
