  1. Bill my tires aren't that old and have about 60% of tread. If I don't ride any more next year than I did this year they should be ok, they do not have any sign of cracking and I do keep it in the garage.
  2. Speaking of the E3 I put a set on in May of 16 and they are still in good shape. Plenty of tread but the date Coad is 2713 over 5 years old. I have not had the time to ride as much as I did in the past few years so I will have to change them in the spring.
  3. Puc the turn buckle you found is a chain binder. I Have five or six of them.
  4. Have you looked at the Dunlop E 4 it is the replacement for E 3? It seams that a lot of people are using Continental on the rear also.
  5. Dave when the bike starts to sputter, do you switch to reserve before the bike stalls? Mine does the same as you are saying but I switch to reserve then head for a gas station.
  6. I am on the same line as Don with the fuel level. I have to switch to reserve at about 1/4 tank and the fuel light never comes on first.
  7. Dave congrats on the retirement. Now the real work begins.
  8. Yes some have done it. I have heard that they used a Stratoliner wheel on the front But left the rear wheel alone because you can't see much of it. Some have had their wheels chromed and they look very good. BTW all of the gen 2 wheels are the same.
  9. I hope you ordered a middle gear cover gasket, you will need it to change the slave. And it is a good idea to change the neutral switch "0" ring too while your in there.
  10. I Would check behind the fins first to see if they are leaking. It doesn't take much of a leak on hot metal to smell it. You may have a drain plug leaking. As for a temp gauge, I have one on mine and it reads about 210* before the fan kicks on.
  11. Did you flush the clutch and brakes when you got the bike? May have been low and got some air in the system. It is best to change the fluids once a year and the coolant every two years.
  12. I thought mine was leaking earlier this year (marking the floor) and ordered one. When I got into changing it I found that it was not the culprit. But having a new one on hand I put the new one in. When I removed the fins from the rear jug it had oil on the back side so I find that my valve cover gasket is leaking and running down beside the clutch slave. I found that the bolts that hold the chrome heat shield and cover were loose. Now I have a spare slave and valve cover gaskets.
  13. I do not put to much into what the Mags. say. I think the bike of the year is the one that the rider throughs a leg over time after time and every rider is different.
  14. If I was doing a lot of riding like I did a couple years ago I would buy two. One for me and the other for the wife. As for replacement foam liners, by the time you would need them they should be available.
  15. Steve that is ugly just lookin at it. Glad the rider was not hurt.
  16. Don it was not stupid is as stupid does. I don't think that at all. Just a little Brain Fart is all.
  17. Ron sorry to hear that you and Tina went down. Glad that you two are OK. If you need anything you have my #.
  18. Don congrats on the new bike. I knew you would. You just can't get enough of the Yamaha's. :mo money:
  19. We had that problem in our neighborhood. I was on the bike and my son was following me in his truck. The dog took off after me and missed but turned into the path of the truck. That was the end of the dog. The people that owned the dog got mad at him and called the cops but could not do anything about it. They got a fine for letting the dog run loose.
  20. Mine did that at the WNY rally. Put a new battery in and still not charging. BongoBob had a RR and we put that in and it worked fine.
  21. Puc I am glad you and Tip are home safe. Sorry to hear Tweeksis has some damage. Been wonderin' how you to were with out hearing any thing. Now for the big question. How did the Dunlop do on your trip? And just remember those grand Pucsters will come when they are ready.
  22. Tom that is not all the winners. Celia and I were by far the biggest winners. Well all that attended are winners. I say this because we had the privilege of spending our 45 anniversary with a great bunch of friends.
  23. Thanks for the up date Jeff.
  24. Thanks Don for what you do for all of us. I was wondering why it would not open for me the other day but I thought it was my PC.
