  1. :yikes:AT LEAST YOU WOULD LOOK GOOD UNTIL THE FIRST TIME YOU HAD TO STOP! LIKE THE BILLY CRYSTAL CHARACTER ON SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE [FERNANDO LAMAS]" IT IS BETTER TO LOOK GOOD THAN TO FEEL GOOD"!!!
  2. Has anybody had any experience with CarbMate from tecmate.com. One of the cycle mags gave it a great review. It's all digital. $109.90 plus extra for multi cylinder adapters [3+4 cylinder ]. The writer said it's almost foolproof.
  3. No matter where you stand on the bailout in the end it will affect every last one of us, that means the pain will eventually trickle down or up depending on your situation and where you are on the economic ladder. To those who say let them fail and those who say help them out get ready to secure the fort, it's going to get ugly.
  4. I guess my question would be , why would anybody pay that kind of money for a nine year old bike. They haven't changed the bike any since then. With an new one at least you get a warranty, which is about the only solid reason to get one of these bikes. Is this "MM" edition supposed to have something special other than a plaque that tells you what number it is? Any gold plated parts? Just curious.
  5. Get 15-50 mobil one! Same price as the other one, but this stuff is not energy conserving.
  6. Just got home from Wal-Mart, bought 5 qt. jug of 15-50 Mobil 1 for 23.00. I have used this stuff on both of my bikes from first oil changes . It is not the over priced bike oil that Mobil sells. One local bike parts store sells Mobil 1 V-Twin oil for 13.99 a quart. That's a ripoff! Never had a problem with this stuff, ever. My 07 Venture chirps like a box of crickets, it was that way from day one. Oil is like religion, whatever brand you believe in the true way to heaven. I hope I get there but with a few more bucks in my pocket, which by the way I'll spend on more accessories. Hope nobody takes offense.
  7. What's s good replacement for the standard passing lamp? One of mine burned out today on my 07 RSV. The one I have is the sealed beam type.
  8. Thanks, apppreciate the info!
  9. How much delivered?
  10. How big of a job is it? I know you have take the weight off the shock. Is the spring going to cause a problem reinserting the bolts? I've read the procedure somewhere here before but can't seem to find it. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
  11. I HAVE AN 07 VENTURE THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, I BOUGHT MINE NEW IN APRIL 07, THEY CHANGED THE REAR WHEEL FIRST THINKING THAT THE WHEEL WASN'T MACHINED PROPERLY. THAT DIDN'T HELP SO NOW THEY DECDIDED IT WAS THE REAR END, ORDERED A NEW ONE, SAME RESULT, BUT NOW I HAD A TICKING NOISE TO GO WITH THE THUMP. THEY GAVE ME THE IMPRESSION THEY THOUGHT I WAS TOO PICKY. I TOLD THEM THE NOISES WERE NOT ACCEPTABLE . THEY FINALLY WENT TO A FACTORY SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT HOW TO PROPERLY SET UP THE REAR END AND THAT DID IT. THE ORIGINAL CAUSE WAS NEVER FOUND. YOU JUST HAVE TO STAY ON TOP OF THEM. THE WARRENTY IS THE ONLY LEVERAGE YOU HAVE. MY BIKE WAS TIED UP FOR WEEKS OVER THIS MESS. IT'S FINE NOW BUT I HAD A LOT OF SECOND THOUGHTS ABOUT BUYING THIS BIKE.
  12. This may sound dumb, but why can't you use the original ones over. I haven't had to take my seat off yet but I will soon to charge the battery. Is there something about the stock ones that they can't be reused when you take them off?
  13. Mobil 1 is a synthetic oil and nowhere on the container does it say (energy conserving). It is one of the oldest and most reliable products out there. I didn't mean to ruffle anybody's feathers. Mobil 1 even markets a 15-50 motorcycle oil, of course it's 4 bucks a quart more. Smart marketing.
  14. I've dropped mine over at least three times, from a stop that is. The crash bars do an excellent job of preventing any damage to the bike. as long as the ground is level there shouldn't be a problem. Mine doesn't have a mark on it, at least not from tipping over onto the bars.
  15. I've used Mobil 1 15-50 non specific car oil in both of my bikes, 05 1100 silverado and 07 RSV and have never had a problem, 25000 miles between both bikes. Dealer told me he uses regular car oil also (mobil 1), only difference between bike specific and car oil is about 4 bucks a gallon. Great marketing ploy! He pushes Amsoil for his customers and Mobil 1 in private to friends and aquaintances. I've known the guy for twenty years and he's always been straight with me. I guess you go with what makes you feel better.
